Altergeist is a slow control deck that usually wins by depleting your opponent's resources while at the same time gaining a lot of card advantage, stealing all of your opponent's cards. If you love long matches then this is definitely the deck you are looking for.

The deck is weak on setting up a very large field on turn 1 (similar to Dragonmaid ), and for this reason, will need a lot of traps and handtraps to slow down your opponents and give you a chance to set up your field ( similar to the golden boy). Traps will also be how you start playing, as once resolved you will be able to summon Altergeist Multifaker , which is where the deck really comes into play.

Indeed, the special summoned Multifaker will go on to special summon another Altergeist monster from the deck (usually Altergeist Silquitous or Altergeist Meluseek ). Although it seems to be a deck with old mechanics, it has powerful cards in the Extra Deck in the form of Links that will allow you to negate spells/traps, add cards to your hand, summon from the deck, Recycle from your grave and make otk. Overall, the deck is very diverse in fighting styles!

The target is usually summoned by the Multifaker during the opponent's turn to add another interruption in the form of "bouncing" cards in the hand. If it goes from the field to the grave, it allows you to recycle Altergeist traps in the grave, adding them to your hand.

This card can attack directly. When this card inflicts battle damage to your opponent: You can target 1 card your opponent controls; send it to the GY. If this card is sent from the field to the GY: You can add 1 "Altergeist" monster from your Deck to your hand, except "Altergeist Meluseek". You can only use this effect of "Altergeist Meluseek" once per turn.


Despite its small stats, this card is extremely important for the deck: if played second, it will lure out some nasty cards when just normal summoning and entering the Battle Phase ( remember : effect The response is to send it to GY, not destroy it). If you go first, it's beneficial because if it goes from the field to the grave (summoning Link), you can search for an Altergeist (most likely Multifaker).

Meluseek, Silquitous, Marionetter, all 3 cards have SR rarity and almost take up a large area in the deck's slot, which makes crafting them extremely expensive and not cheap. Therefore, if you want to get them, you should rely heavily on rolling packs.

If an "Altergeist" monster you control would be used as Link Material for an "Altergeist" monster, this card in your hand can also be used as material. You can only use this effect of "Altergeist Pookuery" once per turn. If an "Altergeist" Link Monster is Link Summoned to your field, while this card is in your GY (except during the Damage Step): You can add this card to your hand. You can only use this effect of "Altergeist Pookuery" once per Duel.


  • Pookuery helps you create Links with Altergeist more easily by using them directly from your hand. If it is in the grave, it will recycle itself when an Altergeist Link monster is summoned on the field. You'll want to have Pookuery in the early game because it extends combos quite well for you.
  • Kunquery is the deck's shield in Battle Phase. It can negate attacks while an Altergeist is face-up on the field. Every time it is special summoned, Kunquery can negate one of your opponent's face-up cards as long as it is on the field, so it can sometimes be useful to summon it from the deck, via effect Multifaker, to block several cards (usually Field spells, or consecutive spells/traps).
Remember : Kunquery is not once per turn, so if you can get it into your hand, you can stop a variety of attacks.



Altergeist Trap

Altergeist doesn't seem to use magic too much and will rely mainly on traps. It is also for this reason that the prototype line will not have a single magic card.

    The activation and effects of "Altergeist" cards activated on your field cannot be negated. When your opponent activates a monster effect: You can send 1 other face-up "Altergeist" card you control to the GY; negate the activation, and if you do, destroy it. You can only use this effect of "Altergeist Protocol" once per turn.


    Protocol is both a card that negates the deck's searchable monsters and a card that allows you to play under negations (what is Skill Drain ???). Remember that your opponent won't be able to negate your activated effects but can still negate persistent effects (like Meluseek's direct attack or Altergeist Hexstia 's damage boost).

      Target 1 "Altergeist" monster in your GY; Special Summon it in Attack Position, and if you do, equip it with this card. When this card leaves the field, destroy that monster. You can banish this card from your GY, then target 1 "Altergeist" Trap in your GY; add it to your hand. You can only use this effect of "Altergeist Manifestation" once per turn.


      Manifestation is the searchable reincarnation of the deck. It can summon any Altergeist monster from the Graveyard (also Extra Deck). It can also be banished from the GY to add another Altergeist trap from the GY to the hand.

      Note : this is not a persistent trap, so if it leaves the field BEFORE it resolves (the effect occurs), you can still summon the monster from the grave. This is often important to combine with Silqutous or Personal Spoofing effects:

      • Activate Manifestation
      • Chain Silquitous to return the Manifestation
      This way, you will return one of your opponent's cards, summon an Altergeist from the GY, and still have Manifestation in hand for your next turn. Conversely, if it leaves the field after resolving, it will bounce the newly summoned monster out of the GY.

        Once per turn: You can shuffle 1 "Altergeist" card from your hand or face-up from your field into the Main Deck; add 1 "Altergeist" monster from your Deck to your hand.


        It can search for any Altergeist monster by placing an Altergeist card from your hand or face-up on the field into the deck (it can also search the same card you shuffled back into the deck).

        Pay attention: if you think your opponent has Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring , try baiting it out, otherwise you will lose 1 from your hand (cards that you shuffle into the deck as a cost)



        Extra Deck

        Please note : the odds in the Extra Deck are affected by the Pot of Extravagance . So the "1-3x" ratio means you play 3 copies to ensure there is at least 1 copy of that monster in the Extra Deck after the Extravagance resolves its effect. If you don't play Extravagance, you can play 1 copy of those cards.

        First of all are the Link monsters of this line that I mentioned a lot at the beginning of the guide
        • Hexstia is the Link monster you will want to summon the most. It gives you negate spells/traps and if it goes to the GY, it can search any Altergeist card (either monster or trap). At the same time, it allows you to destroy large monsters thanks to the effect of continuously increasing its own strength.
        • Primebanshee causes you to summon a replacement monster directly from the deck. And if it goes to the GY, it can cause you to recycle an Altergeist card (either monster or trap) from the GY into your hand.
        • Memorygant is the only card in the deck that can give you a chance to otk (sacrifice a Hexstia pointing at Memorygant, you will have a "meteor" with 7100 atk and pop 1 card on the field).

          Even when Nibiru conflicts with Multifaker (if you special summon a monster that is not an Altergeist monster, you cannot summon from the deck to get the Multifaker effect that turn) sometimes you just need a blow out purely for winning against some combo-heavy decks.

          You can also play the deck without these techs, but they will help you a lot in some matches.

                                    Combo 1

                                    Like I mentioned before, Kunquery doesn't have a once-per-turn effect, so in some cases you'll be able to block multiple attacks:
                                    • Summons Kunquery from hand and stops the first attack
                                    • Return it with Silquitous and continue using it to prevent the second attack
                                    • If you have Personal Spoofing , you can shuffle it into the deck and put it in your hand (in this case, you need to turn it ON and do it before the third attack is declared)

                                    Combo 2

                                    Once you can stop your opponent's turn without Silquitous's effect, you can decide to use Multifaker in the End Phase and summon Meluseek from the deck. Now let's start the combo that makes you touch the deck a bit:
                                    • Use Multifaker and Meluseek to create Hexstia
                                    • Activate Meluseek in the grave to search Pookuery
                                    • Link Hexstia and Pookuery (from hand) to create Primebanshee
                                    • Activate Hexstia from the grave to search Marionetter (or manifestation/protocol if you already have marionetter in hand)
                                    • Normal Summon Marionetter and place manifestation/protocol from the deck (based on the card you need)
                                    • Marionetter effect sends itself to GY to summon Multifaker
                                    • The Multifaker effect summons Silquitous from the deck
                                    • Link another Hestia using multifaker and Primebanshee
                                    • Activate primebanshee in the grave to recycle the multifaker in hand
                                    Assuming you have both manifestation and protocol, you must use manifestation during your opponent's Draw Phase to summon another Hexstia in the grave. So you will have a field set with 2 negate spells/traps (2 Hexstia), 1 bounce (Silquitous), 1 negate monster (Protocol) and multifaker in hand ready to be summoned, and most likely a Other common traps/handtraps you would use in a deck.

                                    Combo 3

                                    If you can end your turn with 3 monsters on the field (or 1 + hexstia), you can create otk with Memorygant.

                                    Let's say we have Multifaker + Meluseek + 1 monster instead:
                                    • Create Hexstia with Multifaker + Meluseek
                                    • Activate Meluseek in the grave to search for Marionetter
                                    • Normal Summon Marionetter. Send Marionetter to summon Multifaker
                                    • Multifaker summons Pookuery from the deck
                                    • Use Multifaker + Pookuery + another replacement monster to create Primebanshee
                                    • Activate the Pookuery effect in the grave to add it to your hand
