Recently released, Dinomis t - a powerful card line that has taken the TCG/OCG scene by storm, has now appeared at Duel Links with a very promising potential.

A little biography about this article. Dinomist is a prototype line of Pendulum WATER Machine Beasts introduced in Breakers of Shadow , and used by Shingo Sawatari in the spin-off manga Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V The Strongest Duelist Yuya!! . All of its archetype cards are Level 4 or 5, as well as a Pendulum Scale of 3 or 6. Dinomist is a pendulum dependent deck that plays simply like a beatdown deck (OTK meme), but they come with good protection as pendulum effects can protect them from destruction and damage. targeting effect, at least once.

With the use of Dinomist Charge , we can play around a monster sent to the extra deck to minimize resource loss, allowing us to take several turns in succession.

Since it's all WATER attribute, we can also take advantage of Reginald 's skill to easily achieve some WATER Xyz Rank 4. But this can lead to problems due to lack of trap/magic zones.



Skills

Before going into Skills, you need to note that Dinomist is a line of cards belonging to the WATER system - that is, the skills of characters using the WATER system are always suitable for them. At the same time, because it is essentially a pendulum deck, expanding the field to add a pendulum area is an extremely stable thing.

At the beginning of the Duel, add a Pendulum Zone to your field. This Skill will only activate if you begin the Duel with a Deck that has 12 or more Pendulum Monsters (Extra Deck does not count).


Because it is a Pendulum deck, using a Skill that points towards Pendulum is extremely logical. With this Skill, your field will be expanded and you will only use Dinomists and conduct your match. It doesn't provide anything other than giving you an extra Pendulum area to conveniently set your backrow.

The Level of all WATER monsters you control becomes 4 until the end of the turn. This Skill can only be used once per turn and twice per Duel. This Skill can only be used if you begin the Duel with a Deck/Extra Deck that contains no monsters other than WATER monsters.


This skill can only be used with decks that are pure WATER - that is, there are no cards with properties other than WATER. Luckily, the Dinomists are a WATER deck. Giving you 1 Xyz turn to Rank 4 is also quite useful in some cases. However, the only limitation is that you have to sacrifice going to the Pendulum area in exchange for 1 turn of Xyz, which will limit your backrow setting .

[Flip this card over when you activate this Skill.] At the start of your turn, call 2 numbers and roll a six-sided die. If you roll a number you called, your LP do not get lower than 1 until the end of your opponent's next turn. This Skill can only be used once per Duel.


Grit is less used in competitive builds, so it's still suitable for newbies if you haven't unlocked World Arv-V yet. Grit helps you survive your opponent's massive attack and helps you survive to draw the card you need to draw in your next turn (if you're lucky enough to survive drawing that card).

Can be used after your Life Points are at 3000 or below. Play the Field Spell 'Umiiruka.' If there already is Field Spell on your side of the Field, return it to your hand. This Skill can only be used once per Duel.


This is a pretty good choice when used for Dinomists and I personally feel it is quite suitable for Bastion Misawa. With environmental magic like Umiiruka , the ATK of monsters will increase, giving them a moderate ATK, enough to overcome opponent monsters or enough for you to perform a more stable OTK.



The Core

Dinomists have the same pendulum effects according to their pendulum scale, which is to protect Dinomists on the field from destruction or target effects by sacrificing themselves.

Scale 3 Dinomists protect the Dinomist (s) on your field from destruction, while scale 6 Dinomists negate cards targeting the Dinomist (s) your. If multiple monsters are targeted/destroyed at once (through Treacherous Trap Hole for example), then using 1 of the pendulum effects will protect them all.

Pendulum cards when destroyed go to the Extra Deck, but with Dinomist Charge on the field, once per turn, you can restore a card sent to the Extra Deck. Another way to restore cards sent to the Extra Deck is simply to summon a pendulum.

One of the deck's easy win conditions. It can attack twice a turn and attack directly, ignoring all opponent's monsters and having some protective effects from Dinomist pendulum cards.

Summon Pendulum Spinos with other Dinomists and activate Spinos 's effect. If you have Dinomist Charge on the field, the card sacrificed to Spinos returns to your hand. If that card is low level or has a special summoning effect, you can return it to the field to be sacrificed to Spinos again.

Alternatively, you can special summon Spinos from the deck with Dinomist Rush and have it unaffected by everything that turn, but this can be a risky turn. Even if you have Dinomist Charge , you can only recover 1 card per turn, whereas this OTK play requires a lot of cards.

Since the Dinomist monster's pendulum effect is intended to protect monsters on your field from targeting or destruction effects, there is a fairly high chance that Spinos ' attack will succeed. With 2x 2500 ATK, it's enough to OTK for a lot of time, unless your opponent uses "Grit" or has handtraps.

If you have Concentrating Current in hand, you only need to activate the Spinos effect once to perform OTK.

  • Pteran is a useful searcher so you can get both scales to perform pendulum summons or to access combos for an OTK round. 1800 ATK for low levels is just decent, but you can increase its attack power with cards in the deck like Abyss Dweller , Dinomic Powerload or Concentrating Current .
  • Ceratops allows you to activate 2 Spinos effects in the same turn quite easily. Summon pendulum Spinos + Ceratops then sacrifice the Ceratops for the first effect. Follow it up by special summoning another Ceratops or using the same Ceratops as it is added back to your hand if you have Dinomist Charge on the field.
  • As for Stegosaur , its effect only works on your other Dinomist monsters and only works after the damage calculation step. This allows any of your other Dinomists to deal with any monster your opponent controls, as long as they can be destroyed by a card effect. It's less of a loss if you have Dinomist Charge on the field because you can bring the destroyed monster back to life.

  • Rex has a strong ability to remove non-target cards or a suitable OTK option if your opponent has at least 2 monsters. But Rex can only use its effect after it attacks, and needs to sacrifice another monster to do so, making regular use a bit difficult. You can use its effect to remove dangerous monsters like Bloom Diva the Melodious Choir , but you will need to sacrifice another Dinomist monster on your field as well as a low-scale Dinomist effect to prevent it. Blocks destructive effects.
  • Plesios helps turn the deck into more of a beatdown deck, but it can only reduce up to 300 ATK due to only having 3 monster zones. Dinamic Powerload will help increase ATK range so you can defeat most monsters with any Dinomist .
  • For decks that don't use banish effects, Ankylos 's effect is quite strong as it will remove them for the rest of the game. But this is quite situational and needing to destroy them with combat only helps a beatdown version of the deck.
  • Brachion on the other hand gives you an extra special summon from your hand to make it easier to get to Rank 5. In addition, the pendulum effect is also used as much as any other Dinomist card, so it is also ranked as nothing special in the deck.

    Use this card to search for other scales you need for pendulum summoning. If you've got both low and high scale (3 and 6), then Spinos or Ceratops are good options to choose if you want to play OTK.

    Its healing effect makes it possible for you to freely use certain Dinomist sacrifice effects. But since it's only once per turn, you'll have to consider whether or not you need to use pendulum effects for protection.

    If you are using a deck without the skill to create a pendulum zone, be careful with this card because you can clog the field after placing 2 pendulum cards on the field.

      All "Dinomist" monsters on the field gain 300 ATK and DEF. If a "Dinomist" monster you control battles, your opponent cannot activate cards or effects until the end of the Damage Step.


      This card allows you to attack without interruption and also prevents handtraps. The ATK increase is just a pretty good bonus, but it only helps the beatdown version gameplay more so in most builds it is not very important.

          • The best monster to summon with Dinomist Rush is Spinos . As long as you have any other Dinomist monsters, Spinos will be able to attack directly. With 2 monsters, the possibility of OTK is quite high.
            • The only cards that can stop an OTK from a Spinos that can attack twice directly are cards that prevent damage dealt. Since this trap card will destroy the summoned monster during your End Phase, this is not a good play if you think your opponent has any handtraps that are not Sphere Kuriboh as you will be out of monsters. Which animal is on your yard?
          • But Dinomist Rush is a very good combination with Dinomist Eruption . After 1 Dinomist monster is destroyed (whether from you or your opponent), you can target 1 card on your opponent's field for destruction. Thus, if the Dinomists are destroyed after the End Phase by the effect of Dinomist Rush , you will not worry too much about the empty field because you can now destroy the opponent's field as well.



          Extra Deck

          Dinomist 's Extra Deck depends more on Xyz Ranks 4 and 5 than using Synchro or other Ranks, because the pendulum nature of Duel Links is very suitable for quickly summoning Xyz.

          The cards I then introduce are perfectly usable for Dinomists .

          • Bahamut Shark allows you to special summon another 2000+ ATK monster, to block attacks or just to make a safer first turn in general.
          • There aren't any level 3 Dinomists in the deck so you can't Xyz Nightmare Shark summon with these materials, which also means you can't use its effects to attack directly. Mainly used to rank up to Black Ray Lancer . Full Armored Black Ray Lancer has a one-time protection effect, but it's also a pretty good puncher as it has 2100 to 2300 ATK.
          • Number 37 is a pretty strong monster that may be difficult for your opponent to overcome as it is basically considered a monster with 3600 ATK if it still has Xyz materials. The floating effect is also quite powerful as you will be able to special summon any monster in the grave if it is destroyed. This is a way to restore Dinomists if they are ever sent to the grave.
          • Finally, Number 32: Shark Drake , Number 32 can be the second most powerful OTK in your deck if you play the beatdown version. For 1 turn, it can act as a Spinos but acts as an opponent's monster up to 2 times.

          • If you no longer have the ability to defend destruction from scale 3 Dinomists , you can Xyz into Tiras to avoid clearing the field. It has the pretty cool effect of being able to destroy a card if it attacks or is attacked, but Rex can provide a more powerful form of card removal if you can afford it.
          • Adreus gives the deck a card removal effect without having to attack your opponent. This turn can deal with dangerous handtraps or other traps that may occur during the Battle Phase.

          • Number 61 is another variation of the Dinomist mechanical dinosaurs in Xyz FIRE form.               Since Dinomist doesn't rely too much on graves, why not turn it into an even more super annoying deck with Necrovalley ? Locking your opponent's grave completely will cause them to no longer be able to use their combos and eventually lead to them giving up the match.

                                                        Final thoughts

                                                        Dinomist is one of the card lines that is considered F2P (Free to Play - Free) and is worth playing in the current Duel Links format. With the Core cards mainly found in the latest Force of Infinity box and just with them, it is completely possible to build an extremely strong Dinomist deck. The power of this deck is not only at the F2P level but can also be used to compete with other top tiers, worthy of being one of the most potential top rank decks in Duel Links.
