Legality
Main 40 / Extra 15 / Side 0 — status under the rules at evaluation time: Illegal. 2 violation(s).
Identity & game plan
- Win condition: Fusion Summon a 2800-3000 ATK Pyro or DARK fusion boss (Veidos, Embers of the Ashened, Starving Venom) after Obsidim, the Ashened City in the Field Zone enables Ashened monster Special Summons from hand; Ashened King, Hero or Priestess boards that stack Special Summons off Obsidim, with Knightmare and Charmer links as extenders
- Turn 1 (going first): Activate Awakening of Veidos or Terraforming to place Obsidim in the Field Zone, then Special Summon Priestess or King from hand and search an Ashened monster toward a Fusion or Link Summon
- Turn 2 (going second): Hold Ash Blossom and Infinite Impermanence for the opponent's first engine or search, then rebuild through Obsidim, Ashened to Endlessness and a fusion boss
- Recovery: Recycle banished or GY Ashened monsters through Shaman of the Ashened City, Inferno of the Ashened and Rekindling the Ashened, returning Obsidim to the Deck or Field Zone for another route
- After siding: No Side Deck is registered, so there is no post-side plan; any side-in would have to come from the current Main Deck
Why it scores here
The deck's power comes from its system rather than from averaging card scores: Obsidim in the Field Zone is the gate for several Ashened Special Summons, and the searchers and Fusion or Link routes give it multiple ways to reach a 2800 to 3000 ATK boss. Its ceiling is high on text alone (Veidos, Embers and Starving Venom are all 2800+ ATK with removal text), but no recorded boards exist, so the median output is scored as an Inferred guess and held near the middle. Interaction is solid on paper, with six hand traps, eight negation texts and nine removal texts, and recursion through the GY keeps the engine going after disruption. The score is capped low because the list is illegal: Ash Blossom and Super Polymerization are both run three times against a two-copy limit. Popularity did not earn points: the archetype core is present in 58% of its usage-stat cards, and that only confirms the list is real.
Dimension scores
| # | Dimension | Score | Evidence |
|---|---|---|---|
| D1 | Engine Accessibility & Consistency | 60 | P(>=1 Obsidim in opening 5) = 0.34 and P(>=1 Ashened core in opening 5) = 0.999; searchers present in 92% of openings, but Obsidim gating limits the starter count (Inferred) |
| D2 | Opening-Hand Quality & Brick Management | 58 | 24 zero-level spells and traps with 8 singletons and 8 triple-copy cards; several Field Zone and GY-dependent cards can be dead in hand (Inferred) |
| D3 | Combo Conversion & Ceiling | 70 | No parseable boards; ceiling read from text: Veidos and Embers Fusion routes reach 2800 to 3000 ATK with removal on Summon (Inferred semantic read) |
| D4 | Combo Floor & Median Output | 52 | No combo data; the median is a text-only inference that the deck usually reaches a board but not always a boss (Inferred) |
| D5 | Interruption Resilience & Route Redundancy | 60 | Two backup hand traps (Ash Blossom, Infinite Impermanence, 3 copies each) plus Rekindling negation and GY recursion give independent continuation routes (Inferred) |
| D6 | Resource Economy, Recovery & Grind | 65 | GY recursion via Shaman, Inferno and Rekindling, plus Obsidim returning to the Deck, gives strong regeneration (Inferred from card text) |
| D7 | End-Board & Interaction Quality | 70 | 6 hand traps, 8 negation texts and 9 removal texts including Harpie's Feather Duster for Spells and Traps (Inferred from text flags) |
| D8 | Going-Second & Board-Breaking Power | 62 | P(>=1 hand trap in opening 6 going second) = 0.65; Veidos and Ashened removal support a going-second response (Inferred) |
| D9 | Offensive Pressure & Closing Power | 68 | Boss ATK 2700 to 3000 with direct-attack and second-attack text on Embers; closing read is text-only (Inferred) |
| D10 | Main Deck Efficiency & Flexibility | 55 | 40 Main with 20 distinct cards and 3 copies on 8 cards, so consistency is high but two cards are over the legal limit (Verified count, Inferred efficiency) |
| D11 | Extra Deck Efficiency & Coverage | 60 | 15/15 Extra: 8 Fusion, 5 Link, 2 XYZ, with Fusion boss redundancy but a 4-copy Fusion dependence across Veidos and Embers (Verified breakdown, Inferred coverage) |
| D12 | Side Deck Adaptability | 15 | Side Deck is empty (0 of 15 allowed), so there is no post-side adaptation (Verified) |
| D13 | Matchup Coverage & Format Fit | 50 | No tournament link and no dated meta sample; archetype usage is present but matchup fit is Provisional (Provisional) |
| D14 | Pilotability & Error Tolerance | 55 | Multi-step Field Zone, GY and Fusion sequencing with many decision points; heavy for a new pilot (Inferred) |
How the score was computed
Strategy profile: Combo. Structural ≈ 61, Going First ≈ 58, Going Second ≈ 62, Meta = provisional, Tournament Reliability ≈ 50. Modifiers: banlist and copy-limit exposure (-6); unrecoverable choke point (-4); illegal-list theoretical cap (0). Final formula: No reliable metagame: 0.80*Structural(61) + 0.20*TournamentReliability(50) = 58.8; modifiers -10 gives 48.8; capped at 40 because the list is Illegal (theoretical/structural-only)
Probability & combo summary
- Opening a starter: P(≥1) ≈ 0.34 · key two-card combo ≈ — · full-brick estimate ≈ — (all Inferred)
- Combo output: best PowerIndex —, median —, board-per-starter —
- Turn order: 0 going-first lines vs 0 going-second lines
Strengths
- Obsidim-gated Special Summons give the deck several starters from hand
- Six hand traps and multiple negation or removal texts cover the first disruption
- GY and banish recursion keeps the engine going after an interruption
- Fusion bosses at 2800 to 3000 ATK with removal on Summon give a high ceiling
Weaknesses
- Illegal copy counts on Ash Blossom and Super Polymerization
- No Side Deck, so no post-side adaptation
- Dependence on the Field Zone for most hand-based Special Summons
- Many zero-level spells and traps that can be dead in hand
Critical choke points
- Obsidim, the Ashened City in the Field Zone is required for most Ashened hand Special Summons
- Veidos the Eruption Dragon of Extinction is a Fusion material that is also a main-deck removal route
Recommended changes
| Priority | Remove | Add | Reason |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 1 copy of Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring | 1 legal replacement of your choice | Brings the copy count to the 2-copy OCG limit, the first fix needed before the deck can get a normal score |
| 2 | 1 copy of Super Polymerization | 1 legal replacement of your choice | Brings the copy count to the 2-copy OCG limit and removes the illegal listing |
| 3 | A Side Deck of up to 15 cards | Gives post-side adaptation; currently the deck has none (D12 = 15) |
Evidence & confidence
- Verified: Main 40, Extra 15, Side 0 are within OCG size rules; Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring and Super Polymerization are each run 3 copies against a 2-copy limit (Illegal); Limited cards Bonfire, Harpie's Feather Duster, S:P Little Knight and Terraforming are each run at 1 copy (legal); Archetype usage shows 58.3% core presence across 24 core cards
- Inferred: Consistency estimates from hypergeometric draws (Obsidim 0.34, core 0.999, hand trap 0.65); Ceiling and interaction reads from card text (Veidos, Embers, Starving Venom, hand traps); Brick risk and pilotability from composition and text
- Provisional: Matchup fit and Meta Power: no dated meta sample or tournament link; Tournament reliability and Side Deck adaptation: no performance data
- Data gaps: No combos supplied; combo floor, median and ceiling are text-only inference No tournament link; archetype meta-share and per-pilot match record absent No win-rate telemetry; going-first, going-second, matchup and brick rates are Inferred or unknown Meta Power is Provisional unless a dated metagame sample is supplied No Side Deck registered
