Instructions for playing Crystal Beasts
Hello everyone, I'm back with tutorials for newbies here at Duel Links. Lately I've had to spend a lot of time on the upcoming Master Duel project. By the way, I'll let you know that after Master Duel is released, you can still follow and update the news. as well as articles from me and my brothers about the card lines in Master Duel. Promise not to disappoint you! So now, let's get to the main content of today! The Crystal Beasts. So what are the questions raised in this article?
Crystal Beasts is a control deck that revolves around Crystal Conclave 's ability to create advantage by constantly recycling Crystal Beast Sapphire Pegasus . Besides the small cores that can be easily found with Crysal Bond and Rainbow Bridge , Crystal Beasts is your top control deck, often choosing heavier backrows and techs like Necrovalley to compete in the Meta.
overview

Crystal Beasts were introduced in Duel Links in November 2017 during Jesse Anderson 's event. At the time, this prototype line was very limited and slow - inferred, not worth using. Shortly after, Jesse returned in the event “ Awaken! Rainbow Dragon! ” ,the event where Crystal Beasts finally became a more cohesive deck, but it was still too slow and gimmicky to be considered truly meta. However, everything changed in April 2020, when Crystal Beasts received two high-impact supports in the Main Box Truth Universe and Pendulum supports from the Mini Box Idea of Armageddon released from 2021. Comes with Meanwhile, Crystal Beast also receives significant support from the exclusive skill Transcendent Crystals . So let's join YGO Vietnam , through this analysis to better understand the operating principles of this deck.
Abbreviations
Like the previous articles I have written, this section is absolutely indispensable for you. Common abbreviations will be the names of Crystal Beasts or some hard-to-read card names
- Graveyard = GY
- Lifepoint = LP
- Crystal Beast Sapphire Pegasus = Pegasus
- Crystal Beast Topaz Tiger = Tiger
- Crystal Beast Amber Mammoth = Mammoth
- Crystal Beast Ruby Carbuncle = Carbune
- As for the other cards in the Crystal Beast line as well as the above cards, some abbreviations will come after the word " Crystal ".
- Level = Lvl
Skills
We will mainly want to use Jesse's Skill because only this Char's Skill provides enough strength for the Crystal Beasts to climb to the top.
Crystal Power (Skill Card) and The Tie that Binds (50%)
If you don't have the budget or just want your deck to be purely F2P, this little mini power buff is quite good, mainly to overcome monsters with high ATK. But for competition, perhaps these Skills are not worth using, because they do not help your continuous combo. Therefore, Transcendent Crystals will be recommended for more use.
Transcendent Crystals (Skill Card) (100%)
It's not too difficult to have 7 Crystal Beasts in the deck, but it's worth mentioning that the Skill helps search cards quite well. Especially in a deck with easy brick potential like this one. Therefore, it is a very necessary skill to complete your combos.
The Crystal Beasts
You will be a little surprised when I say that the main monster of this deck in Duel Links is not Rainbow Dragon . That's true, but mainly the monsters needed in the deck are Crystal Beasts with strong search and float abilities, not beaters like other decks.
Crystal Keeper and Crystal Master (Các Crystal Pendulum)
Even though Support Pendulum of Crystals has been released, are they worth using a lot in the deck? Let's find out!
- Keeper is mainly a handtrap for Crystals. The increased ATK is enough to overcome most main monsters in the meta, but it is worth mentioning that you should not rely too much on the Pendulum effect of this card. Partly because your Magic/Trap zone won't have enough to hold Pendulum cards, partly because it's not a Crystal Beast (this should be clearly remembered) so it won't be returned to the hand to clear the field for you are. Because if you put it in your deck, it will only brick your deck, so I only recommend playing 0-2 copies of this card.
- Master is a Pendulum card that is a bit better than Keeper as it can be a great searcher of the deck but you have to spend 1 normal summon. However, despite the 2 weaknesses I mentioned about Keeper (they still apply to Masters), its Pendulum effect is still very good, especially protecting Crystal Beasts. That's why I recommend you play 2-3 copies of it.
Crystal Beast Topaz Tiger and Crystal Beast Amber Mammoth (Các quái thú lvl 4 cần cho số lượng Crystal Beast)
Both of these monsters act in the deck as additional bodies for the sufficient number of Crystal Beasts in the deck. However, in times of OTK, their effects are quite helpful or also when being attacked by other monsters, they provide quite good protection for your field. But what's more important is that they improve the ability to bring out strong Rank 4 Xyz in enough numbers to meet the Skill conditions.
Crystal Beast Sapphire Pegasus (3x)
The heart of the deck, is the main monster used as a consistent circuit, helping the deck jump monsters faster. Also a low-level Crystal Beast with the highest base ATK.
You can summon multiple Pegasus quite quickly/easily:
- Use Skill to place 2 Pegasus from the deck then Crystal Beacon a Carbuncle from the deck.
- Normal Summon a Pegasus and take another Pegasus from the deck and use Crystal Promise .
With 2 copies on the field, you can play XYZ. Just note that the XYZ monster is not a Crystal Beast , so this won't work well with Crystal Conclave or Crystal Keeper/Master .
If you have Crystal Conclave , use Pegasus to send another Pegasus from the deck to the backrow. This allows you to use Pegasus in the backrow as a cost to return cards to your opponent, so you can normal summon a new Pegasus the next turn and filter the cards further.
Crystal Beast Ruby Carbuncle (0-3x)
Special Summon with Promise, Beacon or Conclave. Best used when you have 2 Crystal Beasts in the backrow, can be done continuously through Skill.
Use Crystal Conclave to special summon Carbune from the deck after your Crystal Beast is destroyed in battle and send it backrow. This will return them to the field and you can then activate Conclave's return effect with any cards you have.
Use Crystal Conclave to special summon Carbune from the deck after your Crystal Beast is destroyed in battle and send it backrow. This will return them to the field and you can then activate Conclave's return effect with any cards you have.
However, Carbune is not very important in some situations because it is not level 4 to Xyz Rank 4, so in some decks, it is best to only play 0-3 copies.
Crystal Beast Emerald Tortoise, Crystal Beast Cobalt Eagle and Crystal Beast Amethyst Cat (Các Crystal Beast còn lại)
The remaining Crystal Beasts are usually not worth using. Although Eagle's recycling effect is nice, it's not really necessary, since you need the bodies to make the cost of drawing cards quickly. Not to mention, among them, it is also very difficult to create Rank 4 Xyz so there is really no need.
Rainbow Dark Dragon and Rainbow Dragon (2 cục tạ)
Even though they are Jesse's main monsters, they are no different from extremely heavy weights in the deck. High ATK, punch is also good but summoning conditions make your deck not too consistent to play. why do you talk so? Although you can use your Master to search for these monsters, after searching, how can you be qualified to summon them? Your deck will be heavier than usual and the winning rate, I won't guarantee it will be high.
However, Master can be combined well with Skill, Rainbow Dark Dragon and Advanced Dark , helping to ensure you if you want to OTK in this direction.
The number I think the most suitable should still be 0-1x.
Good support monsters
Blackwing - Zephyros the Elite (0-3x)
A combo that combines well with Skill when searching while gently removing your cramped backrows. Convenient when you have some Crystal Pendulums you want to remove to install some Conclave.
The best time is when you use it with Pegasus, to continuously use Pegasus's effect, keep re-summoning until you have a strong Rank 4 (great when used in the first turns).
Archfiend Eccentrick (0-2x)
Sometimes you just need Eccentrick's monster effect, lightly turning on a monster to OTK quickly, but sometimes you can just need its Pendulum effect to quickly turn on backrow. Overall, we'll want to just rely on its effect rather than using it to summon Pendulum. In addition, you yourself do not really need Eccentrick because this is a card in the rich box - meaning your chance of getting this card is very low.
Red Resonator (1-2x)
Having yourself a Synchro option to quickly move to a stronger main monster should be a pretty good way to build a deck. However, Red Resonator is not worth using much, although the special summon effect is quite good to quickly enter level 7 Synchro, but if we talk about consistency, it is better to use the Lightsworn engine.
Magic/Trap Crystals
Crystal Beacon, Crystal Bond and Rainbow Bridge (Searcher chính của bộ bài)
The main searchers of the deck and if used correctly, your deck will be very thin with only the first few turns
- Crystal Bond provides up to 2 searches for you and if used correctly with Pegasus, you will have up to 3 searches. Extremely useful, but the game only gives you 1 copy.
- Rainbow Bridge is a free search to start your combos.
- Beacon follows Bond to quickly bring out bodies to create Xyz combos. If used with Carbune, you will be able to remove the pile of body that is piled up in the backrow, but usually it is rarely used.
Crystal Conclave (2-3x)
Core in the deck because its effect is quite strong. The first effect helps float well, while the second effect is extremely useful for interrupting your opponent's turn.
Remember that you cannot just flip it over and return a card immediately in the same chain. So, if you want to return the first monster your opponent controls, you need to turn it over sooner. If it's not a chain, you can flip it over and wait for it to happen, then activate the card kick effect again.

Engine
Star Seraph Scepter and Star Seraph Sovereignty (Star Seraph Engine)
One of the most powerful engines in the game, the club and chair combo allows you to quickly drain your tech, destroy your opponent's cards, and call in powerful Xyz. The engine is also really flexible, as you can create an Evilswarm Ouroboros that rips your opponent's cards if you go first, or set up a Stellarknight Delteros to get some pop. What's great about this engine, though, is that it uses your regular summons, locks you into a 3-material Xyz, and requires both a staff and a chair in hand to pull off the entire combo. If the combo is interrupted by for example Karma Cut , you can use Crystal Bond to set up Crystal Promise and get the third body needed for the Xyz summon. Bond can also be used to set up Crystal Conclave and interrupt your opponent's turn.
Elemental HERO Brave Neos, Elemental HERO Neos and Neos Fusion (Neos Engine)
This engine is more inclined towards beatdown and OTK with protection, making your deck more diverse. Sometimes your victory is guaranteed in some situations and the best part is that you can switch from using Fusion to Xyz with a few simple combos.
Lightsworn Engine
This engine must be called extremely perfect with Crystal Beast due to the ability to thin the deck extremely quickly of both card lines. It must be said very quickly and gives you more diverse playstyles, quick switching between Xyz and Synchro, not to mention that Lightsworn is a strong mercenary card line that is used a lot in the meta and if we talk about the future, the card line is still can exist and its popularity remains high.
Techs
Sphere Kuriboh, Battlin' Boxer Veil and Kiteroid (Các handtrap bảo vệ)
While the deck has the inherently difficult protection of Crystal Pair , it is often not worth using it due to bodies being stacked in the backrow. Therefore, it would be smart if you choose to bring a few handtraps to protect your yard or simply have a few ways to control your LP.
Cosmic Cyclone, Mystical Space Typhoon and Double Cyclone (Các lựa chọn dỡ backrow)
Typically you will want to use these cards more than Crystal Rageki .
- The first reason is that they are more flexible because they are instant Magic cards.
- The second reason is that they are simply stronger and you don't have to destroy the bodies stacked in the backrow for the cost anymore (except for Double Cyclone ). Depending on how you play, you should add about 1-3 copies of each of these cards.
Book of Moon (2-3x)
Like the handtraps, Book of Moon is a less diverse but more powerful option in terms of its overall effects (helps Crystal Beast avoid card effects, helps defend, helps defeat monsters). Not to mention, getting this card 3x is not too difficult, so I encourage you to boost your investment in this card.
Treacherous Trap Hole (2x)
The conditions for activating this card are also quite easy as your Conclave will not go to the grave, so activating 2 monsters is very normal with Treacherous Trap Hole . However, when bringing it with you, be careful when bringing it with some leaves in another banlist. Newbies who don't know will be considered unable to carry it or banned (the game does not allow bringing other leaves and their copies). exceed your limit. Read more carefully in the playing instructions)
Combo đi kèm với Lightsworn
These are the most common Techs if used with Engine Lightsworn . Build a deck that uses powerful draw power, provides useful monsters in many situations, and may even protect you for countless turns. Therefore, it would not be wrong to say that Crystal Beast is quite suitable to go with the Lightsworn .
Super Rush Recklessly (2-3x)
If this card is always paired with Crystal Conclave , it will quickly play 3 copies out of any Crystal Beast deck. Super Rush provides a very powerful form of removal and can also be combined with Conclave to put you far ahead in terms of card advantage. But the biggest drawback I think of this card is that it depends on the presence of Crystal Beast (ie the presence of monsters), so sometimes it will be a bit bricked if you start without a monster.
Extra Deck
Các Number
There is no need to say too much about these Numbers as they are used almost regularly in specialized Xyz Rank 4 decks. The effects they bring are also somewhat consistent with the current meta, for example For example, Number 70 is against Xyz, Number 18 is against Harpies , Cyber Dragon ,...
Gorgonic Guardian and Ghostrick Alucard (Các quái thú Rank 3)
The deck's presence has started to include lvl 3 monsters recently and it will sometimes be worth using them in some versions of the deck.
- Alucard has a pretty good initial effect against face-down monsters or to lure backrows. As for the second effect, we don't seem to use it much.
- Guardian is more versatile as it debuffs (reduces) the ATK of monsters on the field, helping you punch and break your opponent's armor more quickly.
Number 20: Giga-Brilliant, Digital Bug Corebage, Gaia Dragon and the Thunder Charger (Một set bài đơn giản chỉ với quái thú lvl 3)
If you already have 2 Carbune on the field, you might consider summoning Number 20 so you can rank up to Corebage and/or Gaia Dragon. This allows you to return a monster to a defensive position that your opponent controls and have an armor-piercing attacking monster on the field.
Some sample Decks
Tips
- Activate Crystal Power before using techs so you don't miss the extra power boost.
- Pegasus can miss time when summoned from the Crystal Conclave . If your face-up Crystal Beast is destroyed while you control two face-up Conclave and you choose to summon two Pegasus from the deck, only the last summoned can activate its effect. In a similar manner, if you control a face-up Conclave and a face- up Elemental HERO Brave Neos destroys a face-up Crystal Beast in combat, the Brave Neos will activate its effect as Chain Link 1 and the Crystal Conclave as Chain Link 2; Conclave will summon Pegasus and Brave Neos will add Neos Fusion to your opponent's hand. Since the last thing that happens is not summoning Pegasus, it will not be able to activate its effect.
- Crystal Conclave can help avoid your opponent's Wall of Disruption and Drowning Mirror Force by returning your own monster. Also, if your opponent activates Cosmic Cyclone or MST to destroy your Necrovalley , you can return it to the hand and activate on the next turn if your opponent's deck is losing to it.
- It's important to note that to use Crystal Conclave 's second effect, it must be face-up on the field, so it's best to immediately flip it up during the Draw Phase to deal with backrow-breaking techs.
- Since Crystal Conclave says “return them to hand”, the card will always happen to be as strong as possible, even if one of the targets is removed. Thus, if you have two face-up Conclave and only one Crystal Beast in the backrow, you can use one Conclave to target the Crystal Beast and another card on the field, then chain the other Conclave to target the same Crystal Beast and a different card on the field, and return all three of them to the hand. This is called the "Conclave Cool Guy" move.
Final thoughts
Crystal Beast from the article looks like nothing more than a pile of bricks introduced with high card drawing power, but if built correctly and has supporting techs and a power-boosting engine, the line can certainly compete anywhere. where.
If we look to the future, there are still many support cards for Crystal Beast that have not yet been released. According to assessments, if released, the card line will also occupy a sizable place in the meta.
After the article, I hope you will enjoy the Crystal Beast monsters more as well as understand more about their current line of cards and how to play them. Let's follow YGO Vietnam to update more useful gameplay!
