Instructions for playing Toons

Instructions for playing Toons

The latest Minibox has brought us a very strong Tier 1 Skill-sucking deck, Black Luster Soldier. But now we're not here to talk about that damn deck, but Toons-one of the new Decks with support in this minibox!!

The annoying possibility is off the table. Although you have to wait a beat, it can OTK relatively well with the ability to attack directly.
Honestly, this deck is not strong enough to compete with meta decks, but nonetheless this is a very fun and tireless F2P deck to play, suitable for newbies and anyone who wants to troll or find new feelings.

So let's go see what this deck has and try it right away in the Game!! (because it's f2p so easy to build :v)

Style play

Toons in Duel Links currently have 2 main gameplay styles using 2 different skills:

  • Toon OTK : The most popular gameplay style of Toons today, focusing on direct attacks, stealing monsters and playing around Skill Toonvitation

  • Toon It will still be fine on turn 1 but turn 2 is not weak either

In this article, I will focus on the more popular version, OTK, but I will still introduce the XYZ version for everyone to see and refer to.

Toonvitation (Skill Card)

Toon monsters would be no different from bricks without " Toon World ", so a complementary skill for this is out of the question. This is Pegasus's new skill and is probably the best for Toon so far. Exchanging a card for Toon World helps us save deck slots and saves us from eating cosmic

However, in return we will be limited and almost unable to summon anything in the Extra deck, so we can fill the extra to fake the enemy but they will have no effect.

Monster

Toon versions of monsters have effects similar to their originals, however they cannot attack on the turn they are Summoned, so they are quite weak.

In general, they have quite high ATK and effects are up to 80% similar to the original. However, the effect they bring is insignificant, so it's just for mentioning and should not be included :v

Toon Black Luster Soldier

These are two special cases in Toons, they can attack on the turn they are Summoned. But maybe I'll just mention Toon Black Luster Soldier:

  • Toon Black Luster Soldier is what I would consider a boss in our deck, not only can it attack the first turn it is put on the field but it can also be used to banish any threats Any threat from the field can be targeted as long as you control a Toon Kingdom (In fact it even costs an attack roll if this effect is used).

    • Tip - you can always banish with this card's effect, then use it as a tribute to another Toon BLS in your hand, as this card can Attack immediately but cannot attack after use banish effect (generally to optimize the effect).

If we don't have x3 Toon BLS, we can use this card to help because it also has the ability to discard opp's card (but no luck :v)

Toon Dark Magician (x3)

Toon Dark Magician

If you need to search or special summon any monsters from your deck, use a Toon Dark Magician , which is usually the best way to get out if you have other Toon cards in hand to use the effect by the DM to put any Toon Monster on the field or any Toon Spell/Trap from the deck.

This will be the strongest, most flexible searcher of the set. This card is also the way we can progress to TOON BLS easily

The Black Stone of Legend

In addition to Toon Dark Magician , this will also be a card that will help us more easily summon Toon BLS or Toon Dark Magician itself.

For Black Stone:
  • The Black Stone of Legend is a great choice for getting a free Red-Eyes Toon Dragon from the deck, which can be used to send any Toon monster other than Red-Eyes Toon Dragon from your hand straight onto the field.

    • NOTE - If you have other Toon cards in hand but still need Toon Kingdom , prioritize Toon Dark Magician as it has the ability to take any Toon Spell/Trap from the deck. Always grab a Toon Bookmark if you haven't played one in a turn because it's an extra life turn for Toon Kingdom and provides another search for anything you might need.
IMPORTANT NOTE : If you don't read it, I'm going crazy =)), I really don't know if the Black Stone engine works or not because I don't have it =)) Please help me test it if it exists, maybe it works. It won't be too effective but it's worth a try, right?

Spell/Trap

Sometimes during the match, you won't want to rely too much on Toon monsters because it's unlikely you can keep them on the field for long. For this reason, Toon's best supports will come from their Spells and Traps, making the deck more unified.

Toon Kingdom (x1)
UR rarity
Toon Kingdom

Toon Kingdom

Toon Kingdom is the heart of this deck and your top priority to get with any of your searchers/effects in the deck. This card allows direct attacks and protection of your monster(s). Similar to Toon World with some added bonuses. Cost changed from paying "1000 Life Points" to banishing the top 3 cards of your deck face down when this card is activated.

  • Toon monster(s) you control cannot be targeted by your opponent's card effects.
  • If a Toon monster(s) you control is destroyed by battle or card effect, you can instead banish the top card of the deck for each of those monsters.
Note! ALWAYS Look to see which cards are banished when Toon Kingdom activates. (Reason) You need to know which plays you can no longer make on cards banished upon activation.

Toon Bookmark (x3)

Toon Bookmark is an amazing card, not only does it allow you to search for any card that mentions " Toon World " in its text from the deck but it also provides additional protection against destruction by banish it from the grave when your Toon Kingdom will be destroyed (Counter MST).

Typically you will use it before playing Toon Kingdom that way if it is destroyed you can defend it immediately while continuing to search for something else, remember this card can only be Activates once per turn, however grave effect can be applied to however many copies are present.

Comic Hand (x2)

Comic Hand

Comic Hand is a card that can be used to make your opponent's blood boil, the feeling of satisfaction when opp's monster is *YOINK, turns into Toon so that it is protected by Toon Kingdom and can still attack directly from the monster. that animal is transformed into a toon (Top 10 Anime Betrayal).

Remember that
Comic Hand can still target and will return monsters to your opponent if removed from the field. (Similar to Crackdown)

Toon Table of Contents is similar to Toon Bookmark , it can search any card in the Deck named "Toon", therefore it cannot search Comic Hand , however, it can be used to search Toon Bookmark and then use Toon Bookmarks to get what you want from the deck.

Toon Page-Flip (x1-3)

Toon Page-Flip

Toon Page-Flip is a really good Quick spell that every Archetype would want to have. You let your opponent randomly choose 3 monsters with different names that you choose from the deck and then special summon the selected monster to the field. This is a quick-play spell so you can use a spell not only on your turn but on your opponent's as well.

In this deck we will only play 3 Toon cards: "DM, Red-eyes and BLS" and every card is useful so any random card is good. But perhaps the card we least want to see is Toon BLS.

Toon Briefcase (x1)

This card cannot be searched with Bookmark but can be searched with Toon DM (searchable disruption sounds good). In addition, we do not need Toon World to activate this card, we simply need to control a Toon monster.

We can use Terraforming to thin the deck, used to search Toon Kingdom . But perhaps in real combat it is not necessary to use Terraforming because we already have many tools to search.

XYZ Toon

In the above version, the theory sounds good, but in real combat, it is very scary when facing Cosmic Cyclone (1 banish is a lie). So we have this version of XYZ Toon

However, XYZ Toon will also be quite bored when encountering Cosmic but will be better, increasing stability and safety. We will revolve around rank 4 XYZs, balanced in terms of strength regardless of whether we go to Turn 1 or 2.

It's a Toon World! (Skill)

It's a Toon World!

Since version XYZ will definitely need monsters from Extra, using Toonvitation is impossible. So we can temporarily use this skill as well as provide a little support for Toon

Many times, this Toon World card on the field can also bait the enemy to use cosmic, from there we can freely use the Field Toon Kingdom card.

Toon Harpie Lady (x3)

Toon Harpie Lady

Because this is a version that plays around XYZ 4 ranks, level 4 Underated toons will be used. The effects of the level 4 toon cards I will mention below are more useful than many other high level toon cards

First of all, Toon Harpie Lady , because there is a skill that guarantees us a Toon World card on the field, special summoning this card is almost free and can be used as a material for XYZ. Toon Harpie Lady 's side effect is also very good, just need 1 other Toon monster to be able to Destroy 1 enemy backrow.

Toon Mermaid (x3)

Actually, this card is not as useful as Toon Harpie Lady, but it also has the effect of special summoning itself and is level 4. That is enough to make the perfect meat for XYZ rank 4.

Toon Gemini Elf (x2)

This is also one of the level 4 Toons but does not have the ability to self-summon :v. But we will definitely have an extra turn to Normal Summon for this card because the other 2 cards are already Special Summoned :v In addition, there is support summon up to T oon Page-flip

One of these three cards is very good to summon in turn 1. They have relatively annoying effects, but I still like summoning Number 106: Giant Hand the most because almost every deck doesn't use Monster Effects, right?

This is also a card that deserves a slot in the extra. Although it is not too strong to defend on turn 1 like the other 3 cards (because there are only 2 negate attacks), it is still worth summoning to be able to make play on the next turn.

This is what I refer to as "make play" of Utopia. This card can XYZ over Utopia, can buff up to 5000 ATK when attacking monsters and also make the enemy unable to activate any effects when it attacks. That's enough to help us overcome the huge bosses of other decks in some poor situations.

These are also two popular rank 4 XYZ cards:

  • Dark Rebellion: Also a dame buff, helps us out the ATK stat with opp's monsters, finishing off opp

  • Castel: Quite useful in controlling enemy monsters when there are 2 different effects to counter them.

Epilogue

Even though it's both versions, I don't think it will reach Meta :v just play for fun and experience. You also see that recently when going to rank, you also meet a lot of Toon OTK, right?

As for the XYZ part, they are not popular because the extra part is quite expensive, few people have enough to satisfy the UR extra. So instead of focusing on Toon, they just need to experience Toon OTK F2P
