To be honest, when it first came out, Trickstar had a bad debut, lacked support and couldn't compete with meta Decks. But now we have another key support (Field Spell), even in f2p, Trickstar has reached Tier 3.
Previously, there was an article on how to play Trickstar, but that was written by stone, but this is the person who wrote it =))))). So let's see why this deck has anything to go to Tier 3 =))
IMPORTANT NOTE: All of Trickstar's damage effects on Duel Link have been reduced by half, but the card displayed on the web is still the same so please pay attention!

Instructions for playing Trickstar (Update)
Sections covered in this guide:
Style play
Briefly talking about the gameplay, Trickstar will focus on gaining card advantage (specifically, more cards in hand compared to opp), burn a little more and add a bunch of annoying staple bonuses.
- We will mainly use Trickstar Crimson Heart to draw 2 compared to opp draw 1 (+1 card) after using skills, setting traps, using hand traps and finishing off the opponent.
- Trickstar's burning is really insignificant, but once opp is <2000 Lp it's different, so try to burn when possible.
Skill
First of all, let's talk about the Skill part, which will give us an advantage that is not too OP but is relatively annoying
Before, when we didn't have this skill, we had Three Effects to buff LP. But after the edit, Three Effects is not as versatile as before, the LP buff was also nerfed as it can only buff 1200 LP when targeting Link 2. Instead we have Holly Angel Trick : Target and buff LP directly equal to Link's ATK. Trickstar (quite similar to eff 3 of the old Three effects but more blunt).
In addition, the additional x2 damage effect of " Trickstar Holly Angel " is not significant but can also be called a slight buff.
Although buffing LP sounds simple, it is suitable to combine with Link 2 Trickstar Crimson Heart
Main Trickstar Monster
The main searcher of the deck, so there is no wonder that this card is x3. Trickstar Candina searches for 1 "Trickstar" from the deck to hand (including monsters, spell/trap cores such as Field cards, Trickstar Festival) . If Eff burns, if you're lucky, we'll be able to structure opp's LP
This will be the starter combo that we always want to see in the first hand, usually there will be a few cases like this:
- We will Search Trickstar Festival if we take turn 1, then we will have +1 card, 6000 LP, 1 Link 2 Trickstar has very good ability to prevent site destruction.
- When tossing a coin on turn 2, we can search Field Trickstar Light Stage -> add 1 Trickstar (+2 cards) to easily handle, Link,... and finish off the opp (I will talk about it later)
When combined with Wightprincess , we can easily perform an otk phase .
Depending on your preferences, you can give this girl 1-3 slots in the deck. I usually play 2 because of her very good recycling ability, even when going with Lilybell she can create a combo that causes more than 1600 LP with 2 recycles from the grave. In addition, burn eff when opp adds a card to hand is quite easy to happen when the enemy draws, adds,... unlike Candina .
Furthermore, Lycoris's effect is Quick Eff, we can chain at all times to dodge bad effs, or chain in the battle phase to get an extra turn of 1600 ATK. (We can also summon Corbane, attack with 2000 ATK then return the card. Returns to hand with Lycoris -> buffs ATK)
This girl's effect is quite similar to Salamangreat Meer : can be summoned to the field when added to hand (except when you Normal Draw it). You can add this card to your hand with Candina's eff or return Lilybell on the field to your hand with Lycoris. (similar to Salamangreat combo)
Combining with Lycoris in hand, we can max attack 2 turns with Lilybell, causing a total of 1600 LP and returning 2 cards from the grave. In addition, we can also burn a few more LP with Lycoris on the field and with Field
The only thing that makes this card often not used by pros is that it is slow, and to do a combo like above, it takes 1 normal summon, which we will leave to Cadina . In addition, drawing it too early can cause deadhand, but I still quite like the eff of this card and set aside 1 slot for it.
Trickstar Extra Deck
Usually, Trickstar Links will not have very strong effs and only have a supporting role.
First of all, we have to talk about Crimson Heart, which is favored with x2 extra slots and is always Linked first. The reason is that this girl has 2000 ATK, activating the skill will buff us 2000 LP, from there combined with the effect (when more than opp 2000LP, we can discard 1 Trickstar to draw 2, opp draw 1) and bring it back. advantage over target +1 card.
The first effect deals a maximum of 700 damage while Foxglove Witch is specially summoned depending on the number of cards your opponent controls. Her effect after leaving the field will allow you to bring out a Link 2 or lower (Trickstar monster) from Extra and burn for up to 700 additional Eff damage.
So that this is not an article but just translating cards, I will tell you a few things. Although the eff is not too op, it can help us defend the field well. After the eff is destroyed, we can summon Crimson Heart to prepare for the next turn to draw and comeback. 2200 ATK is not too bad a number when x2 with Corbane will increase to 4400, and Burn will also be very poor when accompanied by Field.
Although it is a boss monster with summon animation, this is not a very useful card. Right now is the protection effect. Although it is Link 2, in reality it can only point to 1 cell, equivalent to protecting 1 card. Just like the burn effect, very little damage can be done when it can only point to 1 cell.
But because of the Skill (which helps Holly Angle x2 damage burn) and the Field card that adds damage effects and increases ATK, Holly Angle still deserves a slot in the extra.
1 support is not in the Stage of Trickstar mini box, this is actually the boss of this deck. Just by looking at it, we can see that 2800 x 2 = 5600 ATK (Corbane's eff) is an extremely large number in Duel Links or even in other formats.
Worthy of the deck's real boss, it is not affected by any active effects and even burns some LP when its Link Arrows do not point at any monster. What's scarier than a boss with 5600 ATK, unaffected by eff, nothing can stop Mommy =)))
*NOTE : Try to place it in the Extra Monster Zone on the left side from your perspective to limit the places this card points its arrow to (we will have 2 main monster zone boxes to play with). When the enemy has filled both monsters along both sides of the Main monster zone, you can Link another Trickstar and place this card in the middle of your field for maximum effect.
Trickstar Spell/Trap
Limit 1 Field Spell, it can do so many things compared to 1 field card. Search 1 Trickstar monster when active, extra Burn and even better, block 1 enemy Backrow (complementing what Trickstar lacks is the difficulty of fighting backrow).
Because Trickstar Festival takes up x3 slots, its hand creation rate is quite high, so Trickstar Light Festival will be the card that we often search for through Cadina.
1 Card Link 2, can also protect Trickstar Link monsters from destruction (similar to Neo Fusion). Besides being limited to only summoning in "Trickstar" and activating one per turn, this is truly a perfect combo card for this deck.
The limitation of only being able to summon in Trickstar is sometimes a pretty big disadvantage. At that time, we will not be able to summon Knightmare to clear the backrow, making it difficult to finish off the opponent.
Staple/ Support
Staples are one of the important things of the Trickstar deck, it can account for up to 40-50% of the Deck's strength.
Because they are staples, they have plenty of discomfort, so we don't need to hesitate and can put up to 10 slots in the deck (50%).
Simple skill, quick eff, hand trigger: 1 Banish card/1 Negate card.
And f*ck the Black Luster Soldiers, +7 cards in the grave for nothing. Skills and decks are too trash, we have to use these cards to counter BLS and many other decks. We can even play x2 per card.
These two cards have something in common: Destroy all monsters on the field. This will be an advantage for us because Trickstar Festiv will protect our Link Trickstar from being destroyed.
- I will have other trap cards to protect on turn opp, not necessarily Needle Ceiling
- Dark Hole is located right in the Future Circuit box (box with Trickstar Festival and boss Bella Madonna ) while Needle Ceilling is in a quite old box that no one wants to open.
- Needle Ceiling can only be activated when there are more than 4 monsters on the field and many times we will hesitate whether to destroy our regular Trickstar monsters or not.
When this card is combined with Corbane, we can deliver a pretty effective blow to the opponent. The amount of ATK it reduces is quite a lot (x300 for each level or Rank), countering quite a lot of bosses of all types while our bosses are not affected because the Trickstars are Links (no rank or level).
But that also means that if opp plays the Link deck, they will not be affected by Wightprincess and sometimes we can squeeze it when reducing the ATK of the Trickstar itself from the Main Deck, creating a weakness for the opponent to target. next
Combo
Trickstar Lilybell ( in hand ) + Trickstar Lycoris ( in grave or in hand ) = 2 Recycle + >1600 damage
- Normal summon Lilybell and attack directly (her eff)
- Activate Lilybell's eff, return 1 Trickstar to hand (can be Lycoris)
- Activate Lycoris's eff from hand, add Lilybell back to hand and summon Lyoris
- Re-summon lilybell through her 2nd effect and punch opp directly -> return 1 more time
With any one of the three cards "Light Stage, Festival, Candina" plus Skill, we can create Trickstar's basic combo that we will use in 99% of the matches.
- Example 1: Active Light Stage -> add Candina -> add Festival
Example 2 (because the possibility of Candina and Festival being in hand is quite high): Candina normal summon -> add Light Stage -> Add 1 random Trickstar - Active Festival -> +2 Tokens
- Link summons Crimson Heart with 2 Tokens
- Activate skill, Target Crimson Heart +2000LP
- Use Crimson Heart's ability -> Discard 1 Trickstar draw 2
