This is an article about the gameplay of the Gimmick Puppet deck, a deck with magical artwork that interests some players who are passionate about character IV in the Zexal section.
Personally, I really like Quattro because it's so cool :v so when climbing rank on duel links, Gimmick Puppet is also my Main deck. From the perspective of a long-time Gimmick puppet player, this single Buff of a link monster has greatly increased the deck's strength, no longer as weak as before and can even compete with current meta decks.
However, it still has many limitations, the Eff sets of the monsters are limited to each other, even the skills are limited to only the Gimmick puppet monster.

Instructions for playing Gimmick Puppet (Update Link)
Sections covered in this guide:
Style play
Level 8 Gimmick Puppets in the main deck usually have very low attack and defense but are easy to special summon.
Gimmick Puppets with level 4 or lower often have effects that help players call other Gimmick Puppets and can adjust each other's levels to serve xyz summons.
The Gimmick Puppets in the extra deck are mostly common xyz monsters, with bombardment effects that help Gimmick Puppets dominate.
In addition, Gimmick Puppet's trap magic supports have clearly defined the playing style of this deck, which revolves around the graveyard area and focuses on summoning xyz continuously.
Now that we have Link monsters and an Extra Monster zone, we don't have to worry about getting stuck or having a crowded field. We can freely Steal, search baby, and monster stealing combos begin.
Core
Gimmick Puppet Terror Baby (x2-3)
Gimmick Puppet Terror Baby
ATK:

DEF:

When this card is Normal Summoned: You can target 1 "Gimmick Puppet" monster in your GY, except "Gimmick Puppet Terror Baby"; Special Summon it in Defense Position. You can banish this card from your GY; your opponent cannot activate cards or effects in response to the activation of your "Gimmick Puppet" monster effects this turn.
Terror Baby is an important combo piece of the deck as this monster has both effects that can create advantages for the deck.
The first effect can be used when Terror Baby is normally summoned. Terror Baby can special summon a Gimmick Puppet monster from the Graveyard to increase resources on the field.
Gimmick Puppet Bisque Doll (x2-x3)
Bisque Doll is a level 8 Gimmick Puppet that can be summoned by dropping a Gimmick Puppet from hand to the grave. Because the deck focuses on summoning rank 8 monsters, high-level monsters that can self-summon are absolutely necessary for this deck.
Gimmick Puppet Dreary Doll (x1)
Gimmick Puppet Dreary Doll
ATK:
0
DEF:
0
If this card is in your GY: You can banish 1 other "Gimmick Puppet" monster from your GY; Special Summon this card. You can only use this effect of "Gimmick Puppet Dreary Doll" once per turn. Cannot be used as material for an Xyz Summon, except for the Xyz Summon of a "Gimmick Puppet" monster.
This monster can be summoned from your grave by removing an unnecessary Gimmick Puppet from your grave. The ability is useful, but because Dreary Doll can only summon itself from the grave, it can slow down your combo if you draw many of these monsters.
Dreary Doll can only be summoned from the grave once per turn and this monster can only be used as xyz material for Gimmick Puppet, you should consider before using Dreary Doll .
Gimmick Puppet Magnet Doll (x2-x3)
Magnet Doll can be self-summoned similar to Bisque Doll and does not require discarding a card from the hand like Bisque Doll , however all monsters you control must be Gimmick Puppet and your opponent must have monsters on them. yard.
Gimmick Puppet Gear Changer (x1-x2)
Gear Changer is a level 1 Gimmick Puppet and has a completely different ground type from the rest of the Gimmick Puppet. Gear Changer 's special ability allows this monster to become level 4 or 8 to call the xyz monster more easily.
Number 15: Gimmick Puppet Giant Grinder (x1-x2)
Number 15: Gimmick Puppet Giant Grinder
ATK:

DEF:

2 Level 8 monsters Up to twice per turn, during your Main Phase 1: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 Special Summoned monster your opponent controls; destroy it, then if it was an Xyz Monster, inflict damage to your opponent equal to its original ATK.
Gimmick Puppet's main monster. Each Giant Grinder allows you to destroy up to 2 monsters that your opponent has special summoned. If you have 2 Giant Grinders on the field, it means you can wipe out your opponent's monsters.
Number 40: Gimmick Puppet of Strings (x1-x2)
Number 40: Gimmick Puppet of Strings
ATK:
3000
DEF:
2000
2 Level 8 monsters Once per turn: You can detach 1 material from this card; place 1 String Counter on each face-up monster on the field, except this card. Once per turn, during the next End Phase of the opponent of the player who placed a String Counter(s) by this effect: Destroy the monsters with String Counters, and if you do, inflict 500 damage to your opponent for each monster destroyed.
Unlike Giant Grinder , the player's purpose of using Strings is only to offset Giant Grinder 's attack power.
Strings ' monster-destroying effect can destroy more than 1 monster at a time, but the time it takes for Strings to destroy them is too long (at least 2 turns), so most players only use Strings to force opponents. method to manually deal with monsters that have been marked by Strings .
Gimmick Puppet Gigantes Doll (x2)
Gimmick Puppet Gigantes Doll
ATK:

DEF:
2000
2 Level 4 "Gimmick Puppet" monsters You can detach 2 materials from this card, then target up to 2 monsters your opponent controls; gain control of them until the End Phase, also for the rest of this turn you cannot Special Summon monsters, except "Gimmick Puppet" monsters, nor declare an attack, except with Xyz Monsters. You can Tribute this card; all monsters you currently control become Level 8 until the end of this turn. You can only use each effect of "Gimmick Puppet Gigantes Doll" once per turn.
As a rank 4 monster exclusively for Gimmick Puppet, the material requirements will be more difficult and there will be a summoning limit. Gigantes has 2 effects and each effect can only be used once per turn.
Gigantes Doll can discard 2 of her xyz materials to gain control of 1 or 2 of your opponent's monsters, which are returned at the end of the turn.
After taking control of up to 2 opponent's monsters, until the end of this turn, you can only special summon Gimmick Puppet and only xyz monsters are allowed to attack.
What you can do with your opponent's monsters is use their special abilities and can be used for other effects.

2 Machine monsters During your Main Phase, if you control this Link Summoned card: You can activate this effect; you cannot Special Summon monsters from the Extra Deck for the rest of this turn, except Machine Xyz Monsters, also take 1 "Gimmick Puppet" monster from your Deck, and either add it to your hand or send it to the GY, then, if all monsters you control are "Gimmick Puppet" monsters (min. 1), you can Special Summon 1 "Gimmick Puppet" monster from your hand. You can only use this effect of "Gimmick Puppet Chimera Doll" once per turn.
Finally comes the new highlight of the deck. The first necessary thing to play Gimmick Puppet well is to read this card carefully. At first glance, Chimera Doll's effects are very strong and mobile: Search or send any Gimmick Puppet to the grave, Free summon,... Usually we will search for Terror Baby but don't rush to activate and special Terror Baby because it will Very wasteful of Terror Baby's effect (can only be activated when normal summoned)
But we have to be careful, this effect can only ACTIVATE when Chimera Doll is Link summoned, meaning we can summon Chimera Doll from the grave via Monster Reborn or Junk Puppet but we will not be able to activate the effect. its
In addition, because it is a Link monster, we will not be able to attack during the turn when we activate Gigantes Doll's effect, so please align Dame properly and avoid Misplay.
Condolence Puppet (x2)
Condolence Puppet
Send "Gimmick Puppet" monsters with different names from your Deck to the GY, up to the number of monsters your opponent controls that were Special Summoned from the Extra Deck +1. You can banish this card from your GY, then target 1 Machine Xyz Monster you control; it cannot be destroyed by your opponent's card effects while face-up on the field. You can only use each effect of "Condolence Puppet" once per turn.
Condolence Puppet helps you fill your grave with Gimmick Puppet. In addition, this card also helps protect 1 of your xyz mechanical monsters from your opponent's destruction.
Junk Puppet can be combined with Condolence Puppet to revive Gimmick Puppet that this card sends down.
Junk Puppet (x2)
Junk Puppet helps you revive a Gimmick Puppet from the grave. Junk Puppet 's ability is not limited to summoning Gimmick Puppet in the main deck, so you can completely call back Strings to get huge attack power from this monster.
Gimmick Puppet Des Troy (x0-x1)
When sent from the field to the grave, Des Troy allows you to summon up to 2 Gimmick Puppet from your hand. Des Troy is a monster that helps you deal with your bad draws.
Most level 8 Gimmick Puppets can be summoned from hand like Bisque Doll or Magnet Doll , but they all have a trade-off ( Bisque Doll forces you to drop a Gimmick Puppet from your hand to the grave to summon, Magnet Doll loves requires the opponent to have a monster on the field) or if you draw Dreary Doll , a Gimmick Puppet monster that can only be summoned from the grave, Des Troy will help you summon them more easily.
If you feel that taking Des Troy from the field to the grave with other cards is too difficult, Des Troy also has an additional ability to destroy 1 Gimmick Puppet on the field. By using Des Troy to destroy Des Troy , this monster can activate its remaining effects.
Des Troy is an extremely good support monster for Gimmick Puppet, but most Gimmick Puppet decks do not use Des Troy because, in addition to normal summoning, Des Troy can also be recalled from the grave with Terror. Baby . These summons drain resources and waste Gimmick Puppet's effects as well as your valuable normal summons. Terror Baby can summon another, better Gimmick Puppet, Des Troy .
Gimmick Puppet Scissor Arms (x0-x3)
Scissors Arms when summoned normally can help you send 1 Gimmick Puppet you want to the grave.
But maybe spending 1 normal summon with a few deck slots is not worth it in exchange for this effect :))
Perform Puppet (x0-x1)
Perform Puppet
You can banish 1 "Gimmick Puppet" monster from your GY; all monsters you currently control become that banished monster's Level, until the end of this turn (even if this card leaves the field). If a face-up "Gimmick Puppet" monster(s) you control is destroyed by battle or an opponent's card effect and sent to the GY: You can target 1 of your banished "Gimmick Puppet" monsters; Special Summon it. You can only use each effect of "Perform Puppet" once per turn.
With Performs Puppet, you will be more ready to summon xyz rank 4 or 8 when you can remove a Gimmick Puppet from the grave, your current monsters will have the level of the other discarded Gimmick Puppet.
Gimmick Puppet Humpty Dumpty and Gimmick Puppet Egg Head (x0)
With the special effect of summoning 1 Gimmick Puppet from the hand when summoned, Humpty Dumpty is not much used because we already have Des Troy that can be summoned by skill.
Gimmick Puppet Twilight Joker and Gimmick Puppet Nightmare (x0)
Gimmick Puppet Nightmare
ATK:
1000
DEF:
2000
You can Special Summon this card (from your hand) by Tributing 1 face-up Xyz Monster you control. You can only Special Summon "Gimmick Puppet Nightmare" once per turn this way. When you do: You can Special Summon 1 "Gimmick Puppet Nightmare" from your hand or Graveyard. If this card is Special Summoned, you cannot Special Summon any monsters for the rest of this turn, except "Gimmick Puppet" monsters.
Twilight Joker 's effect is so slow, you have to wait until your Gimmick Puppet is destroyed in battle while Gimmick Puppet focuses on destroying enemy monsters with effects and finishing attacks on them.
Number 88: Gimmick Puppet of Leo (x0-x1)
Number 88: Gimmick Puppet of Leo
ATK:
3200
DEF:
2300
3 Level 8 monsters Once per turn, if you have no cards in your Spell & Trap Card Zone: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, and if you do, place 1 Destiny Counter on this card. You cannot conduct your Battle Phase the turn you activate this effect. When 3 Destiny Counters are on this card, you win the Duel.
Although it has an effect that helps you win the game without reducing your opponent's life points, Leo is too weak. You have to wait nearly 6 turns for the win condition to apply. The more difficult thing here is that you have to find a way to protect Leo in those 6 turns. In addition, you have to spend a turn fighting in an otk deck, which increases the difficulty of using this card.
Tech
Pulse Mines (x0-x2)
Pulse Mines work extremely well with Gimmick Puppet when you have to take the first turn and avoid attack damage because Gimmick Puppet are all mechanical monsters.
Number 68: Sanaphond the Sky Prison, Number 22: Zombiestein and Number 70: Malevolent Sin (x1)
Number 68: Sanaphond the Sky Prison
ATK:

2 Level 8 monsters Gains 100 ATK and DEF for each monster in the GYs. Once per turn: You can detach 1 material from this card; until the end of your opponent's next turn, this card cannot be destroyed by card effects, also neither player can Special Summon monsters from the GYs.
Number 22: Zombiestein
ATK:
4500
DEF:
1000
2 Level 8 DARK monsters Must be Xyz Summoned and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. Once per turn, during either player's turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card and send 1 card from your hand to the Graveyard, then target 1 face-up card your opponent controls; change this card to Defense Position, and if you do, that face-up card has its effects negated until the end of this turn.
Number 70: Malevolent Sin
ATK:
2400
DEF:
1200
2 Level 4 monsters Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 monster your opponent controls; banish it until your opponent's next Standby Phase. At the end of the Damage Step, if this card attacked: You can make this card gain 300 ATK, and if you do, increase its Rank by 3.
Gimmick Puppet revolves around summoning level 4 and 8 monsters, so running more xyz rank 4 and 8 in addition to Gimmick Puppet is understandable.
Galaxy Cyclone, Cosmic Cyclone and Mystical Space Typhoon (x2-x3)
Galaxy Cyclone
Target 1 Set Spell/Trap on the field; destroy it. During your Main Phase, except the turn this card was sent to the GY: You can banish this card from your GY, then target 1 face-up Spell/Trap on the field; destroy it. You can only use this effect of "Galaxy Cyclone" once per turn.
Techs can destroy magic and traps.
Axe of Fools and Concentrating Current (x1)
You can also add techs to your deck that help you finish off your opponent quickly.
as much as possible
Techs can prevent enemy combos extremely well.
Enemy Controller, Monster Reborn and Treacherous Trap Hole (Tech limit 1)
You can choose 1 of these 3 cards and leave 1 slot for the deck. They are all cards that are easy to flip and have a great influence on the match, so they are assigned number 1.
- Monster Reborn has the ability to resurrect any monster in the grave, regardless of whether it is your own or enemy grave
- Enemy controller is both a defense and a very flexible quick spell. Gimmick Puppet's ability to spam monsters is also quite strong. Tributing a small monster in exchange for opp's boss is too much. In addition, it can also be combined with Des Troy's eff
- Teacherous Trap Hole has excellent defense, destroying up to 2 monsters. However, it also has certain limitations and when you use this trap to destroy your own Des Troy, it will be Missed Timing and cannot activate the destroy's summon effect.
Skills
Appropriate skills can be played with Gimmick Puppet.
(Maybe just for reference, I think you should play Relinquished Puppet)
Gimmick Puppet – 4 or 8, Gimmick Puppet – Gear Changer (1)
These skills allow you to flexibly change the level of Gimmick Puppet, helping the deck to combo Gimmick Puppet xyz more smoothly.
Gimmick Puppet – Replacement (1)
Skill helps players filter cards in their hand, discarding Gimmick Puppet that cannot be summoned like Dreary Doll to get another level 8 Gimmick Puppet from the deck.
Gimmick Puppet sent down will be summoned again with Terror Baby .
Additionally, you can take Bisque Doll into your hand, then summon Bisque Doll with its own effect and recall Dreary Doll by removing Gimmick Puppet and sending it to the grave with Bisque Doll .
Gimmick Puppet – Returning (1)
This skill is mainly used for long battles. Returning can return discarded Terror Babies and Bisque Dolls to use protection effects and reuse them again, and add Gimmick Puppet to let Dreary Dolls reappear on the field.
If you want to experience Leo , this will be a suitable skill for a deck built around Leo .
Puppet – String of Fates (1)
Skill allows you to add 1 Giant Grinder to your extra deck. Usually players only use 2 Giant Grinders in the deck, so with this skill, you can reduce 1 Giant Grinder and add another monster to the extra deck.

Relinquished Puppet (1)
This is a skill that can take full advantage of Des Troy 's power and help Gimmick Puppet fill the grave's resources, so this is the most optimal skill for this deck.
Combo
Gimmick Puppet Bisque Doll and Gimmick Puppet Twilight Joker (Combo Relinquished Puppet + 1 Gimmick Puppet level 8 bất kỳ)
- Use the Relinquished Puppet skill and send Dreary Doll from the deck.
- Self-destructs Des Troy , then because Des Troy is sent from the field to the grave, he can call 1 Gimmick Puppet from his hand.
- Recall Dreary Doll by removing Des Troy from the grave.
- Use the remaining Dreary Doll and Gimmick Puppet to summon xyz to produce Giant Grinder or Strings .

In this combo, the goal is for you to get to a Number rank 4 the fastest with a good harassment effect or turret.
Gear Changer can be replaced with any other level 4 Gimmick Puppet such as Terror Baby , Scissors Arms , Humpty Dumpty which can help you add resources when summoned normally.
With the above combo, you are completely capable of wiping out the opponent's field by summoning xyz Gigantes Doll in the last step.
Use Gigantes Doll 's effect to capture 2 monsters of your opponent's level. Use those 2 monsters to summon xyz to create 1 Gimmick Puppet of rank 8. In case the monsters do not have level 8, you can sacrifice Gigantes Doll to turn them into level 8. Even worse if you only capture 1 monster. If you have a level, call the Dreary Doll from the grave that was sent down when using the skill.

Epilogue
Gimmick Puppet is a deck that has the potential to finish off your opponent in one turn. It is called potential because the Gimmick Puppet monsters and the magic and traps that support the card clan have very clear strengths and weaknesses.
The monsters in the main deck have the ability to self-summon or increase resources, helping your field always have xyz materials with protective effects. However, the attack and defense of these Gimmick Puppet are very low and almost impossible to use in combat.
Giant Grinder has a multiple bombardment effect, the combo of Gigantes Doll and Giant Grinder can wipe out the entire opponent's field. In return, Giant Grinder has an attack power of 1500 and a defense power of 2500. This will make players worry about whether to let Giant Grinder defend or attack, in case you leave Giant Grinder in attack position but fail to finish it off. opponent, you will definitely lose this item in the next turn.
Strings is a Gimmick Puppet with great attack power, easy to summon and the ability to create high pressure. Most players only use Strings just because of its attack power, Strings ' effects are too slow and almost impossible to activate successfully.
The spells and traps of the Gimmick Puppet clan are mostly extremely powerful supports specifically for Gimmick Puppet, but there is no way to get them into the hand through other effects and must be through card drawing.
Relinquished Puppet is a skill used in most Gimmick Puppet decks. Note that you can only use the skill if your deck only includes Gimmick Puppet and dark-type Numbers.
