Guide to Link Monsters and Link Summoning

Here are some basic concepts about Link monsters and Link summoning for beginners to have a clearer concept of this new mechanism.

Vrains will be released at the end of September 2022, but you can learn it later because after vrains is released, you usually just play for fun or get acquainted, but before now there has been no deck that has a very new meta after the release of the world.

First of all, you have to know what the link monster is

First of all, you have to know what the link monster is

The Link monster is blue like the Ritual monster, but has arrows, no defense and changes DEF to LINK-.

It does not have a Level/Rank, the arrow that has it is called Link Arrow and Link monsters cannot be defended (of course including facedown DEF), this monster can only be summoned to the Extra Monster Zone, if you want to summon it. If it is in the Main Monster Zone, look at the arrow on this card. Wherever it points, you can Link Summon the box this card points to, including the main monster zone.

Summoning to the Extra Monster Zone is required

Summoning to the Extra Monster Zone is required

You must summon a Link monster to the Extra Monster Zone if there are no other Link monsters on the field.

For example, the Decode Talker monster in the picture.

The link monster you want to summon in the main monster zone must have a link monster in the Extra Monster Zone box pointing the arrow at it

The link monster you want to summon in the main monster zone must have a link monster in the Extra Monster Zone box pointing the arrow at it

For example: To summon the 1 Link monster Linkuriboh in your Main Monster Zone, you need 1 Link monster with an arrow pointing to the box in the main monster zone.

In the picture, the Decode Talker monster has a Link arrow pointing to the bottom left and right corners of the Main Monster Zone. Therefore, you can summon Linkuriboh to the box where the Link arrow is pointing.

NOTE: IF THE 2 ARROWS OF THE LINK CMON POINT TO EACH OTHER, IT IS CALLED CO-LINK

This one is the same, but it is a 3 link, it requires 2 monsters or MORE, so in theory you can use 3 monsters to make this one.

If you want to use 2 monsters, you will use 1 link 1 monster, or a non-link monster (considered link rating 1 like buh-eyes) and 1 link rating 2 monster.

You can target 1 face-up monster you control and 1 "Rokket" monster in your GY; destroy that monster on the field, and if you do, add that other monster from the GY to your hand. You can only use each effect of "Striker Dragon" once per turn.

In theory, any monster above can be linked, but there are some cases where the correct monster must be used to link, for example a level 4 dragon or lower.

3 monsters with different names If this card was Link Summoned using a Level 7 or higher monster(s) as material, your opponent cannot target it with card effects, also it cannot be destroyed by your opponent's card effects. When this card destroys an opponent's monster by battle: You can activate 1 of these effects; ● This card gains 1500 ATK. ● This card can make a second attack during the Battle Phase of your next turn. ● Banish 1 card on the field.

You can build this one very easily, but if you use the right link material it will have additional effects

Some terms and rules related to Link

I. Some terms:
1.Link Material: material used to Link Summon (if there is no effect to prevent it, the materials will be sent to the grave). Materials can be Monsters, Tokens, or Traps (in the form considered Monsters)
2.Link Marker: indicates the Link monster's arrows (the number corresponds to the Link number of that monster). Seeing the direction of the Link Marker is very important, which I will talk about later.
3. Mutual Link: only 2 monsters have 2 arrows pointing in each other's direction. A><B
4. Link Point: Suppose we have animal A with an arrow pointing to animal B: A>B, we call B Link Point
II. Some basic rules:
1. To be able to Special Summon from the Extra Deck, you must place that Monster in an Extra Monster Zone or a Main Monster Zone pointed to by a Link Marker of a Link Monster.
2. If a Link Marker of an opponent's Link Monster is pointing to an unused Main Monster Zone space on your side of the field, you can use that space to Special summon from the Extra Deck.
3. Normally, once you have used an Extra Monster Zone box, the remaining box cannot be used by you and belongs to your opponent. But there is an exception: you will always be able to occupy the remaining Extra box if your Link monsters have links to each other and there is an arrow pointing to the remaining Extra box, then you can always sum it up. that extra box.
