Identity & game plan
- Win condition: Ritual Summon a Reptile boss (Ame no Murakumo, Ame no Habakiri, Futsu no Mitama) via Mitsurugi Ritual or Mitsurugi Mirror, or convert the board with Xyz bosses (Ryzeal Detonator, Number 38, Duo Drive).; Xyz pressure from Rank 4 and Rank 8 Xyz monsters built from Ryzeal and Reptile bodies, with Dragluxion and Hope Harbinger as late-game closers.
- Turn 1 (going first): Turn 1: search with Pre-Preparation of Rites, Mitsurugi no Mikoto (Saji/Aramasa/Kusanagi) or Mitsurugi Prayers to set up a Ritual Spell plus a Ritual Monster, then Ritual Summon a Reptile boss on turn 2 while holding Ash Blossom or Maxx C for interruption.
- Turn 2 (going second): Hold Droll & Lock Bird, Ash Blossom, Forbidden Droplet and Dominus Impulse to answer the opponent's board, then use the Ritual searcher chain to rebuild a Reptile boss the following turn.
- Recovery: Use Mitsurugi Great Purification and Mitsurugi Prayers to special summon Reptile monsters from the GY, and Mulcharmy draw effects to refill the hand once the field is empty.
- After siding: No side deck is registered, so there is no post-side plan; the deck cannot adjust between games in a best-of-3.
Why it scores here
The score is built from the deck as a system: a dense searcher layer (16 searcher-text cards, 93.5% chance of at least one in a 5-card opening hand) reliably finds a Ritual Spell and a Reptile Ritual boss, and the ritual boss then converts into board control or Xyz pressure. Interaction density is high for a 40-card main (hand traps, Forbidden Droplet, Dominus Impulse, Crossout Designator, and Ryzeal Detonator), which lifts end-board and going-second scores. The main penalties are the absence of a side deck (D12 is scored low and no post-side plan exists), the single Droll & Lock Bird and graveyard-banish exposure noted in the guide, and an exact-name archetype purity of only 25.5% across Ryzeal, Mulcharmy and other sub-archetypes. No combo boards were supplied, so the ceiling and median are text-based inferences, and no card scores were averaged into the deck score. Popularity (archetype core coverage of 99% by hypergeometric estimate) confirms the list is real and accessible but was not credited as power.
Dimension scores
| # | Dimension | Score | Evidence |
|---|---|---|---|
| D1 | Engine Accessibility & Consistency | 72 | P(at least one searcher in 5-card hand) ≈ 0.94 and P(at least one Mitsurugi Ritual in 5) ≈ 0.34 for 3 copies; searcher density carries the engine (Inferred) |
| D2 | Opening-Hand Quality & Brick Management | 66 | Searchers and multiple Reptile starters keep most hands functional, but 4 Mulcharmy and 1 Purulia are weak in hand without a field (Inferred) |
| D3 | Combo Conversion & Ceiling | 62 | No recorded boards; ceiling read from card text of Murakumo (destroy board, 3200 ATK) and Habakiri (800 ATK drain) via Ritual Summon (Inferred semantic) |
| D4 | Combo Floor & Median Output | 55 | No combo data; median inferred from the Ritual chain needing a specific Ritual Spell and boss, so typical output is lower than the ceiling (Inferred) |
| D5 | Interruption Resilience & Route Redundancy | 66 | Tribute-recursion through Saji, Aramasa and Kusanagi plus GY special summons via Great Purification give alternate routes after a single Droll or Maxx C hit (Inferred) |
| D6 | Resource Economy, Recovery & Grind | 70 | Searcher-heavy engine with GY recursion via Prayers and Great Purification recovers resources across turns (Inferred from card text) |
| D7 | End-Board & Interaction Quality | 74 | Ash Blossom x3, Droll, Maxx C, Dominus Impulse x2, Forbidden Droplet x2, Great Purification and Murakumo negation give layered interaction (Verified text, Inferred quality) |
| D8 | Going-Second & Board-Breaking Power | 66 | Five hand traps and Forbidden Droplet cover going-second turns; Murakumo and Hope Harbinger provide board breaking (Inferred) |
| D9 | Offensive Pressure & Closing Power | 70 | Murakumo 3200 ATK, Ryzeal Detonator 3000 ATK, Hope Harbinger 3000 ATK and Dragluxion 2500 ATK give strong end-board stats (Verified stats) |
| D10 | Main Deck Efficiency & Flexibility | 58 | 40 cards with 26 distinct names; 17 spells/traps include 4 tech cards, and exact-name archetype purity is 25.5% (Verified composition) |
| D11 | Extra Deck Efficiency & Coverage | 72 | 13 Xyz and 2 Link in Extra, with Rank 4 and Rank 8 access covered by many Xyz options (Verified composition) |
| D12 | Side Deck Adaptability | 30 | No side deck is registered, so adaptability is effectively zero for best-of-3 play (Verified) |
| D13 | Matchup Coverage & Format Fit | 55 | No tournament or meta-share link in the export; format fit is Provisional and only the guide's note that the deck is cheap and beats many decks is available (Provisional) |
| D14 | Pilotability & Error Tolerance | 60 | Ritual, Reptile tribute and Xyz chains require several decision points and correct sequencing (Inferred) |
How the score was computed
Strategy profile: Midrange primary, with Toolbox adjustment weighting D7/D10 (none applied numerically). Structural ≈ 64.4, Going First ≈ 66, Going Second ≈ 62, Meta = provisional, Tournament Reliability ≈ 60. Modifiers: no_side_deck (-2); engine_conflict_archetype_purity (-2); banlist_exposure_limited (-1). Final formula: 0.80*Structural + 0.20*TournamentReliability + ContextModifiers (Meta provisional) = 0.80*64.4 + 0.20*60 - 5 = 58.5, rounded to 59
Probability & combo summary
- Opening a starter: P(≥1) ≈ 0.94 · key two-card combo ≈ — · full-brick estimate ≈ 0.01 (all Inferred)
- Combo output: best PowerIndex —, median —, board-per-starter —
- Turn order: 0 going-first lines vs 0 going-second lines
Strengths
- Dense searcher layer (16 searcher-text cards) makes the engine reliably live on turns 1 and 2
- Five hand traps plus Forbidden Droplet and Dominus Impulse give strong going-second interaction
- Ritual bosses (Murakumo 3200 ATK, Habakiri, Futsu) and Xyz closers (Detonator, Hope Harbinger, Dragluxion) give high end-board power
- Full Extra Deck with 13 Xyz and 2 Link gives flexible Rank 4 and Rank 8 options
Weaknesses
- No side deck, so no post-side plan in best-of-3
- Droll & Lock Bird (single copy) and graveyard-banish hate are known weaknesses per the guide
- Exact-name archetype purity is only 25.5%, with Ryzeal, Mulcharmy and generic cards diluting the engine
- Six Limited cards run at their limit, leaving no redundancy if one is removed
- No combo boards recorded, so floor, median and ceiling are text-only inferences
Critical choke points
- A single Mitsurugi Ritual or Mitsurugi Mirror is required for most boss lines; if the Ritual Spell is dead, the Ritual chain fails
- Droll & Lock Bird or Maxx C during the search chain can stall the draw engine for the turn
- Banish-based graveyard hate removes the recursion of Great Purification and Prayers
Recommended changes
| Priority | Remove | Add | Reason |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Triple Tactics Talent (1 copy) | Side deck of 5-15 cards (anti-Droll / anti-GY-banish answers) | The deck has no side deck, so it cannot adapt to graveyard hate or hand-trap-heavy opponents in best-of-3 play |
| 2 | Mulcharmy Purulia (1 copy) | Second copy of Mitsurugi Great Purification | Purulia is an off-archetype Aqua that rarely improves the Mitsurugi engine; Great Purification adds a Reptile recursion route |
Evidence & confidence
- Verified: Legal status for master-duel with 40 main, 15 extra, 0 side and no violations; All Limited and Semi-Limited copies are at or below their legal limit; Archetype purity exact-name 25.5%; Probabilities from hypergeometric draws over the resolved main deck
- Observed: Usage stats show Maxx C, Ash Blossom, Ame no Habakiri, Mitsurugi Prayers and Saji at 94-100% inclusion in the archetype
- Inferred: Engine consistency and brick rate estimates from searcher density and hand math; Going-first and going-second power from card text and interaction density; Median and ceiling output from text, since no combo boards exist
- Provisional: Meta power and matchup fit, pending a dated metagame sample; Tournament reliability relies on archetype context only
- Data gaps: no combos supplied — combo floor/median/ceiling is text-only inference no tournament link — archetype meta-share and per-pilot match record absent no win-rate telemetry exists in YGOVN — going-first/second, matchup and brick rates are Inferred or Unknown Meta Power is Provisional unless a dated metagame sample is supplied no side deck registered
