Instructions for playing Lunalight - Part 1, deck list analysis

Lunalight or Moonlight is a deck of cards used by the character Serena in the anime Arc-V. In the anime, the deck has a summoning gameplay that combines the deck's main monsters Cat Dancer , Panther Dancer , Leo Dancer with ATK buff supports, attacking multiple times to finish off the opponent. Unlike the anime with the ability to spam many monsters as well as unlimited summoning methods from extra decks, Lunalight is used as an engine in combo decks.

If this card is sent to the GY by a card effect: You can target 1 "Polymerization" in your GY; add it to your hand. You can only use this effect of "Lunalight Kaleido Chick" once per turn. Kaleido Chick is a monster that is used many times in combos.

This monster can send 1 other Lunalight monster from the DECK or EXTRA DECK to the grave, when used as fusion material if this Kaleido Chick monster is face up on the field after using the effect, you can see Kaleido Chick is the monster with the same name as the Lunalight monster that was sent to the grave.

However, in reality Kaleido Chick is rarely used for its intended function. Players often use this monster as a Foolish Burial to bring monsters like Yellow Marten , Emerald Bird ,... to revive them to create more bodies. Furthermore, because having to send Lunalight monsters to the grave is COST, Ash Blossom or other negate abilities of Infinite Impermanence , Effect Veiler cannot prevent Kaleido Chick from sending monsters from the deck to the grave, and when sending If those monsters go to the grave, this monster will have completed its mission.

This effect of Kaleido Chick is limited to 1 time/turn for each copy of Kaleido Chick on the field and does not affect other monsters of the same name. This means that if you have multiple Kaleido Chicks on the field, each Kaleido Chick can perform this effect once. Or if you somehow take Kaleido Chick off the field after using the effect and then re-summon them, you can reuse this effect again (will be discussed later in the combo section).

Kaleido Chick is an extremely important monster in strategy because of its ability to send a significant number of Lunalight monsters to the grave from the deck as well as having an extremely nice level 4 that can be easily summoned normally as well as used as material for other rank 4 monsters.

In addition to the above effect, Kaleido Chick also has 2 other effects:

Return exactly 1 Polymerization (target) card from the grave to the hand when sent to the grave by a card's effect (limited to 1 time/turn on other Kaleido Chicks ).

Prevents your opponent from activating effects, and cards in the battle phase during this monster's turn are discarded.

These effects mainly serve the Lunalight otk strategy, where Kaleido Chick should belong.

[ Pendulum Effect ] Once per turn: You can target 1 "Lunalight" monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon it, but it cannot attack, its effects are negated, also it is destroyed during the End Phase. [ Monster Effect ] If this card on the field is destroyed by battle or card effect: You can target 1 "Lunalight" monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon it. You can only use this effect of "Lunalight Tiger" once per turn.

Lunalight Tiger is a level 3 LIGHT type pendulum monster, different from most of the rest which are level 4 DARK type. It is also important that this monster is the key used to combine with Kaleido Chick .

Both the pendulum effect and Tiger 's monster effect part involve the ability to special summon a Lunalight monster from the grave to the field:

While in the pendulum zone, once/turn you can special summon 1 Lunalight monster from the grave (target), this monster will have its effects disabled, cannot attack and will be destroyed at the end. phase. phase.

Tiger 's monster effect can be activated when this card is destroyed, you can recall 1 Lunalight from the grave (target) and this monster will not be subject to any constraints. This effect of Tiger can only be used once/turn.

Similar to Kaleido Chick , Tiger 's pendulum zone effect can be reused in the same turn with multiple copies of Tiger . You can use 2 Tigers in both pendulum zones to revive 2 Lunalights without worrying about the scale value because the deck rarely summons pendulums.

Thanks to Yellow Marten 's ability to return cards to your hand, you can also return Tiger from the field to your hand to reactivate this effect again.

Because it is a pendulum monster in a fusion deck, there are not too many ways to get Tiger back while in the extra deck (pendulum cards on the field when going to the grave will be placed in the extra deck face-up instead of sending it to the grave). Tiger almost loses her looping ability when put into an extra deck that slows down your combos. Therefore, you need to consider whether you want to actively activate Tiger 's monster effects or not (usually players will use Tornado Dragon to destroy her while in the pendulum zone).

In the Lunalight card family, Black Sheep is a monster that can regain Tiger when it is in the extra deck and is in hand again. But you can only do this when she is used as a fusion material and sent to the grave, this is also to avoid players overusing Lunalight to use in other decks.

If this card is in your hand or GY: You can target 1 "Lunalight" card you control, except "Lunalight Yellow Marten"; return it to the hand, and if you do, Special Summon this card in Defense Position, but banish this card when it leaves the field. If this card is sent to the GY by a card effect: You can add 1 "Lunalight" Spell/Trap from your Deck to your hand. You can only use each effect of "Lunalight Yellow Marten" once per turn.

Lunalight Yellow Marten has 2 effects and each Yellow Marten effect can only be used once/turn. This monster is Kaleido Chick 's priority cost target.

While Yellow Marten is in the Graveyard, you can add 1 Lunalight card from your field to your hand (target), except Yellow Marten , special summon this monster from the Graveyard, however this card will be discarded if leave the yard. You can take advantage of this effect of Yellow Marten to put Tiger back in your hand and use Tiger 's pendulum effect again.

Yellow Marten 's other effects can be activated when she is sent to the grave using the effects of other cards, you can add 1 Lunalight spell/trap from your deck to your hand. This effect also only serves Lunalight in pure gameplay, the best cards that can be searched thanks to Yellow Marten include Lunalight Fusion and Lunalight Serenade Dance .

You need to clearly distinguish cost and effect from each other. Kaleido Chick 's action of sending a Lunalight monster from the deck/extra deck to the grave is considered a cost (preceded by a semicolon (;)), so Yellow Marten cannot activate the effect to get a Lunalight spell/trap. get your hands on it.

If this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can send 1 "Lunalight" card from your hand to the GY, and if you do, draw 1 card. If this card is sent to the GY by a card effect: You can target 1 of your Level 4 or lower "Lunalight" monsters that is banished or in your GY, except "Lunalight Emerald Bird"; Special Summon it in Defense Position, but negate its effects. You can only use each effect of "Lunalight Emerald Bird" once per turn.

Lunalight Emerald Bird has 2 effects and each Emerald Bird 's effect can only be used once/turn.

Emerald Bird is one of the ways to help you activate the graveyard effect of Lunalight cards. When normal/special summoned, you can send 1 Lunalight card from your hand to the grave, and draw 1 a card.

By sending a card from her hand to the grave as an effect, Yellow Marten can use the sear effect of her spell/trap cards. Serenade Dance is also easier to get to the grave thanks to Emerald Bird .

Since there is no limit on the name of the card that needs to be sent to the grave, you can absolutely send Emerald Bird from your hand for this effect. When Emerald Bird is sent to the grave by card effects, you can summon 1 level 4 or lower Lunalight monster (target) from the grave or banish to the field in defense position. This is also a way to help Lunalight continue to maintain the deck's monster resources, most especially the ability to retrieve Lunalight monsters that are being removed.

If this card is sent to the GY by a card effect: You can target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; change its ATK to 0 until the end of this turn. When a card or effect is activated that targets a "Lunalight" monster(s) you control (Quick Effect): You can banish this card from your GY; negate the activation, and if you do, each player gains 1000 LP.

Lunalight Crimson Fox provides a lot of support for Lunalight monsters in otk strategies as well as being a protector for these monsters.

When this monster is sent to the Graveyard by an effect, you can change the ATK of 1 face-up monster on your opponent's field to 0 (target) until the end of the turn.

Crimson Fox in the grave can also protect your Lunalight monsters. When any card or effect targets a Lunalight monster you control, by banishing Crimson Fox from the grave, you can negate the activation, and both players gain 1000LP.

Crimson Fox's protection helps you keep Lunalight monsters on the field away from destruction effects, targeted removal so players can continue combos by using those monsters as link materials, xyz , fusion, …

One unfortunate thing about Crimson Fox is that this monster cannot protect Tiger while in the pendulum zone as well as the ability to negate but not destroy, making Blue Cat have no place to act in the deck when Crimson Fox can respond. its owner.

In addition to protecting you from keeping monster resources on the field and preventing them from being banned while on the field by the opponent, Crimson Fox can do almost nothing when Kaleido Chick sends Lunalight from the deck/extra deck. Grave is a cost and Lunalight monsters need to be graved by effects to activate their effects, and sometimes giving the opponent 1000LP causes... the deck's otk ability to fail. In return, Crimson Fox does not have any limits on using effects on this monster.

If this card is sent to the Graveyard as a Fusion Material for a Fusion Summon: You can add to your hand, 1 face-up "Lunalight" Pendulum Monster from your Extra Deck or 1 "Lunalight" monster from your Graveyard, except "Lunalight Black Sheep".

Lunalight Black Sheep has 2 effects that can be used while in hand and while in the grave. Both of Black Sheep 's effects have no limit on the number of times they can be activated per turn.

By discarding this card, you can either add exactly 1 Polymerization from your Deck to your hand, or add 1 Lunalight monster from your Graveyard to your hand. Black Sheep is a fusion support as well as a search support for any Lunalight monster you want indirectly through Kaleido Chick .

As I mentioned, Black Sheep is the most useful Lunalight monster to help you get Tiger back from the extra deck. However, the conditions for activating the effect when this card is sent to the grave by effects are more difficult than for other Lunalight monsters. This effect can be activated if this card is used as fusion material for a fusion summon and sent to the grave, you can return to your hand 1 face-up Lunalight pendulum monster from your extra deck or 1 Lunalight monsters from your grave.

It is not too difficult to understand that this monster does not have level 4 like most other Lunalight monsters as well as the conditions for activating effects are more difficult, this helps Lunalight have more of a deck quality instead of being a hired engine. for other xyz 4 decks. However, Black Sheep does not require you to use her as a fusion material for Lunalight monsters to activate the effect. Black Sheep's grave effect can be activated even when she uses it to fusion summon other monsters. Some other fusion monsters you can play in Lunalight are Mudragon , Garura , Guardian Chimera ,...

Lunalight Wolf is a scale 1 pendulum monster from Lunalight. Thanks to this monster, your Lunalight has another way to fusion summon without having to get Polymerization through Black Sheep . This monster's effect when in the pendulum zone allows you to fusion summon Lunalight monsters by removing materials from the field and grave.

Wolf as a monster on the field has an effect that causes your Lunalight monsters to deal piercing damage to quickly finish off your opponent.

You can only activate 1 "Lunalight Fusion" per turn.

As a fusion deck, Lunalight also has its own Fusion card in addition to search support surrounding the classic fusion card Polymerization , Lunalight Fusion . You can only activate Lunalight Fusion once per turn.

Lunalight Fusion can only summon and fuse Lunalight monsters, the materials used can be from the hand or the field such as Polymerization . In addition, you can use exactly 1 Lunalight monster from the deck/extra deck if your opponent has a summoned monster from the extra deck on the field. Lunalight Fusion helps you summon monsters like Leo Dancer and Panther Dancer more easily with materials used from the extra deck, as well as helping Lunalight monsters trigger their effects when sent to the grave.

When a Fusion Monster(s) is Fusion Summoned to your field (except during the Damage Step): You can target 1 of those monsters; apply these effects in sequence. ● Special Summon 1 "Lunalight Token" (Beast-Warrior/DARK/Level 4/ATK 2000/DEF 2000) to your opponent's field. ● That target gains 500 ATK for each monster your opponent controls (even if this card leaves the field). During your Main Phase: You can banish this card from your GY; send 1 card from your hand to the GY, and if you do, Special Summon 1 "Lunalight" monster from your Deck. You can only use this effect of "Lunalight Serenade Dance" once per turn.

Lunalight Serenade Dance is a trap card of the clan, this card is mainly used for its grave effect. You can remove Serenade Dance from the Graveyard (cost) to send 1 card from your hand to the Graveyard and special summon 1 Lunalight monster from your Deck to the field. This card both helps you summon a monster you want from the deck and also helps you send Lunalight monsters to the grave to help them trigger effects from the grave.

You can use Foolish Burial Goods to send Serenade Dance from the deck to the grave. If this card is already in your hand, you can send them to the grave more easily thanks to Emerald Bird or Luna Light Perfume .

Serenade Dance 's on-field effects only support the deck's pure gameplay and are not too important. This is an eternal trap card. When a monster is summoned to your field, you can choose 1 of 2 effects that can summon 1 token to your opponent's field or your monster (target). will increase 500 ATK for each opponent's monster. Serenade Dance allows your Lunalight monsters to attack multiple times to optimize the damage dealt to the opponent.

An extremely important support of Lunalight that can both revive Lunalight monsters from the grave and be a searcher, Luna Light Perfume is not a Lunalight card (the difference is in the distance between Luna Light), This makes this card unsearchable thanks to Yellow Marten and can only wait for your turn to draw. It couldn't be more comprehensive, both of Luna Light Perfume 's effects do not have any limit on the number of uses nor are they bound to summon monsters during the turn.

You can activate this card from your hand to summon 1 Lunalight monster from your grave (target).

When Luna Light Perfume is in the Graveyard, you can remove this card from the Graveyard, then discard 1 card from your hand (cost), adding 1 Lunalight monster from your Deck to your hand.

Cat Dancer can attack each monster twice. Each time this monster declares an attack, the opponent takes 100 LP damage.

This way your Cat Dancer can hold their monster and attack them a second time to deal maximum damage to your opponent.

However, with Cat Dancer alone, you still cannot finish the opponent so easily. 3 "Lunalight" monsters Must be Fusion Summoned. Gains 200 ATK for each Beast-Warrior monster that is banished or in the GYs. Your opponent cannot target this card with card effects. During your Main Phase, except the turn this card was sent to the GY: You can banish this card from your GY, then target 1 Fusion Monster you control; it gains 3000 ATK until the end of this turn. You can only use this effect of "Lunalight Sabre Dancer" once per turn.

With a summoning condition that requires up to 3 fusion materials and only has an ATK increasing effect while on the field, Saber Dancer is often only used thanks to its ATK increasing effect in the grave or is not used in many deck lists. .

So I have finished introducing to you the members of the Lunalight archetype. This is a deck with interesting gameplay that can both go ahead and go behind thanks to its extremely strong monster spamming power without any restrictions.

In the next article, I will continue to give you engines and tech cards that can be played with Lunalight as well as some mistakes that new players often make when using the deck. Thank you for your interest.
