Instructions for building and playing Spright - TCG
Sections covered in this guide:
Introducing Deck and Foreword
According to a reliable source, the dark age in Yu-Gi-Oh is coming and most players already know it. One way or another, the inevitable collapse of what was supposed to be a slow but smooth recovery turned into another avalanche, of inexplicable proportions. The existence of Spright decks makes it possible to easily create decks without having to rely on any special mechanics or anything unique or beyond the grand scheme of things, e.g. Meta candidates then and now. With that said, the TCG variant is lucky enough to not be truly "Tier 0" like the OCG variants are. However, only time will tell if this happens, and how Splight actually becomes a truly competitive deck.
Finally, if you have come to this article, I hope you can somehow find the answer for yourself as to why Spright is so strong!
Core
Spright monster
Spright Red
ATK:
1200
DEF:
1800
If you control a Level/Link 2 monster, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand). You can only Special Summon "Spright Red" once per turn this way. When your opponent activates a monster effect (Quick Effect): You can Tribute 1 other Level/Rank/Link 2 monster; negate that effect, then if you Tributed a Rank/Link 2 monster to activate this effect, you can destroy that monster. You can only use this effect of "Spright Red" once per turn.
Spright Jet
ATK:
1300
DEF:
700
If you control a Level/Rank 2 monster, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand). You can only Special Summon "Spright Jet" once per turn this way. If this card is Special Summoned: You can add 1 "Spright" Spell/Trap from your Deck to your hand. You can only use this effect of "Spright Jet" once per turn.
Spright Blue
ATK:
1100
DEF:
1000
If you control a Level/Rank 2 monster, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand). You can only Special Summon "Spright Blue" once per turn this way. If this card is Special Summoned: You can add 1 "Spright" monster from your Deck to your hand, except "Spright Blue". You can only use this effect of "Spright Blue" once per turn.
Spright Carrot
ATK:
1000
DEF:
1900
If you control a Level/Link 2 monster, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand). You can only Special Summon "Spright Carrot" once per turn this way. When your opponent activates a Spell/Trap Card or effect (Quick Effect): You can Tribute 1 other Level/Rank/Link 2 monster; negate that effect, then if you Tributed a Rank/Link 2 monster to activate this effect, you can destroy that card. You can only use this effect of "Spright Carrot" once per turn.
- Blue and Jet will help search (Blue is a monster and Jet is a spell/trap)
- Red and Carrot will negate quite often (Red is a monster, and Carrot is a spell/trap). Not to mention, if you sacrifice Link or Rank to negate, you will be allowed to completely destroy that card.
Spright Starter and Spright Smashers (Spright Spell)
Spright Smashers
Banish 1 "Springans", "Therion" or "Spright" card from your hand or GY, then activate 1 of these effects; ● Special Summon 1 "Springans" monster from your Deck. ● Special Summon 1 "Therion" monster from your GY. ● Banish 1 Level/Rank/Link 2 monster you control and 1 card your opponent controls. You can only activate 1 "Spright Smashers" per turn.
- Starter is mainly used to Summon Blue onto the field to connect your combo to Gigantic. If your starting hand reaches the Starter, you can have just one more round of Normal Summon to connect the combo after reaching your boss (quite a crack because you simply have to special summon until you see It is also possible to satisfy the following r normal).
- Smashers are often added as an option to help your ending set become safer and more reliable ( banishes monsters from both sets ).
Gigantic Spright and Spright Elf (Spright Extra Deck)
Gigantic Spright
ATK:
1600
DEF:
1600
2 Level 2 monsters For this card's Xyz Summon, you can treat Link-2 monsters you control as Level 2 monsters for material. The original ATK of this card that has a Fusion, Synchro, Xyz, or Link Monster as material becomes doubled. During your Main Phase: You can activate this effect; detach 1 material from a monster you control, and if you do, Special Summon 1 Level 2 monster from your Deck, also neither player can Special Summon monsters for the rest of this turn, except Level/Rank/Link 2 monsters. You can only use this effect of "Gigantic Spright" once per turn.
Spright Elf
ATK:
1400
LINK-2
Link Arrow:
Bottom-Left
Bottom-Right
2 monsters, including a Level/Rank/Link 2 monster Cannot be used as Link Material the turn it is Link Summoned. Your opponent cannot target monsters this card points to with card effects. During the Main Phase (Quick Effect): You can target 1 Level 2 monster in your GY, or, if your opponent controls a monster, you can target 1 Rank/Link 2 monster instead; Special Summon it. You can only use this effect of "Spright Elf" once per turn.
Tech & Engine
Deep Sea Sentry and Deep Sea Diva (Deep Sea Engine)
Deep Sea Sentry
ATK:
400
DEF:
2000
If this card is sent to the GY to activate a WATER monster's effect: You can make your opponent banish 1 card from their hand face-up, until the End Phase. If this card is Special Summoned: You can send the top 2 cards of your Deck to the GY, then target 1 Level 4 or lower WATER monster in your GY, except "Deep Sea Sentry"; add it to your hand. You can only use each effect of "Deep Sea Sentry" once per turn.
- There's not much need to say about Diva, but the Normal Summon I mentioned above is the monster you need to use to extend your combo. In addition, the main target for Diva to summon can be Sentry or Diva herself (the eff does not limit the name of the level 2 monster summoned).
- Sentry is extremely useful in this deck! While the first eff can completely reduce the resources in the opponent's hand, with the 2nd eff (after being summoned with Diva), it is possible to mill 2 cards and recycle 1 level 4 WATER (suitable for using Frog Engine). . Of course, milling cards like that will be quite risky (in case there is no WATER) but it helps pile resources into the GY for Elf to continuously combo.
Frog Engine
Toadally Awesome
ATK:
2200
DEF:
0
2 Level 2 Aqua-Type monsters Once per turn, during the Standby Phase: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; Special Summon 1 "Frog" monster from your Deck. Once per turn, during either player's turn, when your opponent activates a Spell/Trap Card, or monster effect: You can send 1 Aqua-Type monster from your hand or face-up from your field to the Graveyard; negate the activation, and if you do, destroy that card, then you can Set it to your field. If this card is sent to the Graveyard: You can target 1 WATER monster in your Graveyard; add it to your hand.
Dupe Frog
ATK:
100
DEF:
2000
This card's name becomes "Des Frog" while it is on the field. Monsters your opponent controls cannot target monsters for attacks, except this one. When this card is sent from the field to the Graveyard: You can add 1 "Frog" monster from your Deck or Graveyard to your hand, except "Dupe Frog".
Swap Frog
ATK:
1000
DEF:
500
You can Special Summon this card (from your hand) by discarding 1 other WATER monster. When this card is Summoned: You can send 1 Level 2 or lower WATER Aqua monster from your Deck or face-up field to the GY. Once per turn: You can return 1 monster you control to the hand; you can Normal Summon 1 "Frog" monster during your Main Phase this turn, except "Swap Frog", in addition to your Normal Summon/Set. (You can only gain this effect once per turn.)
- Ronin can summon himself at the cost of 1 Frog in his grave
- Dupe then search the card after using it for Link Summon, or any form of sending it from the field to the graveyard.
- Swap will help you not have to spend a normal summon but will also help increase the number of normal summons. Not to mention it can mill your grave by sending 1 level 2 WATER Aqua from the Deck or the field to the grave (giving Ronin or itself if sent from the Deck and giving Dupe if sent from the field). This will start your combos smoother and smoother
- The final boss of the deck - Toadally Awesome, a card that seems to be too familiar to OCG and TCG Duelists as it has to stand on the banlist time and time again. Being able to add 1 Frog after each Standby Phase helps a lot in expanding the combo as well as its 2 effect. Negate , although only once per turn, does not send the negated card to the GY but sets it on your field (very useful). And if destroyed, it helps you continuously recycle your resources (can also recycle itself).
Handtrap
Infinite Impermanence
Target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; negate its effects (until the end of this turn), then, if this card was Set before activation and is on the field at resolution, for the rest of this turn all other Spell/Trap effects in this column are negated. If you control no cards, you can activate this card from your hand.

Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring

During the End Phase, banish the face-up monsters Special Summoned by this effect.
Tech
Crossout Designator
Declare 1 card name; banish 1 of that declared card from your Main Deck, and if you do, negate its effects, as well as the activated effects and effects on the field of cards with the same original name, until the end of this turn. You can only activate 1 "Crossout Designator" per turn.
Dark Ruler No More
Negate the effects of all face-up monsters your opponent currently controls, until the end of this turn, also, for the rest of this turn after this card resolves, your opponent takes no damage. Neither player can activate monster effects in response to this card's activation.
Pot of Prosperity
Banish 3 or 6 cards of your choice from your Extra Deck, face-down; for the rest of this turn after this card resolves, any damage your opponent takes is halved, also excavate cards from the top of your Deck equal to the number of cards banished, add 1 excavated card to your hand, place the rest on the bottom of your Deck in any order. You can only activate 1 "Pot of Prosperity" per turn. You cannot draw cards by card effects the turn you activate this card.
- Pot helps detect cards effectively but at a price that is too simple for you to manage
- Crossout and Called have the same uses, but both should be put in the Deck because of their situational nature
- DRNM helps you clear monsters on the opp field faster so that next turn you can end the game early.

General
What makes Spright so great?
- Sprights is extremely interesting because the core strategy of the deck doesn't use too many cards. You don't need much to really get started with your Spright combo. One or two cards are all you need to get started and set up almost a full yard.
- What's the best part? The card is arguably one of the strongest cards since it was released - Nibiru, the Primal Being , can NOT do anything against Sprights. Nibiru is great because it absolutely destroys the field when it successfully activates, so having a deck that shuts it down completely is crazy. That's right, Branded Despia plays around Nibiru and can go full field without losing against Nibiru, but Spright just says "no" to Nibiru without offering any negate.
- There is one more thing about Spright where the deck uses a lot of Rank 2 . Rank 2 in YuGiOh are great cards but haven't had a chance to shine until Spright was released. Rank 2 has a certain place in all formats and is gradually being taken more seriously.
Weakness
- However, even though it's pretty great, like many other meta decks, Spright is very susceptible to hand-traps and temporary shutdowns (that's enough to finish a game).
- Spright's biggest weakness is too many Special Summon . I know this can be a strong point, but let's face it, there are a lot of decks that lock down your field and don't let you summon too many, or you will be limited to summon levels and summon monsters. ,... kind of. Or the most obvious thing is that if you Special Summon, the opponent will quickly Maxx "C" you immediately, and of course, if you are lucky and have the ability, you can force them to withdraw until they die, but if you are unlucky, then you will die. They already have the key to defeat you: v
