Voidvelg gameplay guide (July 2026)

Voidvelg gameplay guide (July 2026)

Possessing the dark power of the deepest reaches of the galaxy, Voidvelg (also known as Dark Galaxy) has officially risen to prominence in Rush Duel thanks to its new Requiem Contact skill and incredibly versatile Contact Fusion mechanism.

The most appealing aspect of this playstyle lies in its ability to rapidly rotate resources, constantly creating advantages in card stacking and overwhelming opponents with Boss cards boasting immense Attack Power like Voidvelgr Forbidden Requiem or Dark Matter Requiem . While there's a bit of luck involved in milling cards to clear the board, Voidvelgr remains an incredibly robust and explosive Tier 2 force, making it the perfect choice for players who prefer an aggressive control style combined with powerful OTK (Out-of-Kill) plays. Let's explore how to master the darkness and crush any opponent's defenses!

[REQUIREMENT] Send the top card of your Deck to the Graveyard. [EFFECT] This card gains ATK equal to [the number of face-up DARK Attribute monsters on your field] x 300 until the end of this turn. Then, if your opponent has a face-up LIGHT Attribute monster on their field, this card gains 600 ATK until the end of this turn.

This is the main boss monster and the primary target of the Requiem Contact skill. Not only is it easy to summon it as a Sacrifice with just one monster (thanks to the skill's advantage), but it's also a mandatory material for performing the deck's most powerful Contact Fusion moves.

At the same time, with an Attack Power of 2500, Voidvelgr Requiem is one of two targets in the deck that meet the "1600 Attack Power or more" condition to trigger Voidvelgr Forbidden Requiem 's board-clearing effect.

An incarnation of the netherworld's sovereign, it claims the souls of the living and carries them to its realm. None may escape its violet edge.

It serves as an essential fusion piece that pairs with Requiem to summon Voidvelg Forbidden Requiem .

The most important value of this card lies in its ATK. In this deck, besides Requiem, Voidvelg PaleRider is the only monster with ATK reaching 1600 or higher. Therefore, keeping this card in your deck (or shuffling it from the Graveyard) is crucial to ensure you can successfully Mill your target and activate Forbidden Requiem's card-breaking ability.

A Normal Dark-type monster, yet central to the new Fusion variations. It's the designated material to summon Dark Matter Requiem or the trap-breaking monster Voidvelgr Beyond Probe . Thanks to its Skill and other digging cards, you can easily find and acquire this card in your hand very frequently.

[REQUIREMENT] Send 1 card from your hand or the top 2 cards of your Deck to the Graveyard. [EFFECT] This turn, this card's name becomes "Contact Darkmatter Explorer". If you sent a card from your hand to the Graveyard to meet the requirement, you can have this card's name become "Voidvelg Requiem" this turn instead.

The greatest "pioneer" and the heart of the new gameplay. By sending 1 card from your hand or 2 cards from the same deck to the Graveyard, its name changes to Contact Dark Matter Explorer , meaning you essentially have up to 6 copies of Explorer in your deck to freely Fusion.

Its flexibility is even more terrifying: if you choose to pay by sending one card from your hand to the Graveyard, its name can change to Voidvelg Requiem . This feature allows you to create Contact Fusion plays instantly from seemingly "brick" decks.

[REQUIREMENT] You have another face-up DARK Attribute monster on your field during the turn you Normal Summoned this card. [EFFECT] Send the top card of your Deck to the Graveyard. If you sent a monster to the Graveyard by this effect, you can add 1 Level 8 Galaxy Type monster from your Graveyard to your hand.

This is a perfect (+1) resource-generating tool when combined with the Requiem Contact skill. The strategy is simple: use the skill to place a necessary monster (like Requiem or Explorer) on top of your deck. Then, summon Voidvelgr Cataphract , use its Mill effect to send that card to the Graveyard, and immediately retrieve it to your hand. A smooth combo chain allows you to obtain exactly the resources you need without any additional cost.

[REQUIREMENT] If you have 10 or more cards in your Deck. [EFFECT] This turn, this card's name becomes "Voidvelg Palerider". Then, excavate 3 cards from the top of your Deck and show them. You can add 1 "Voidvelg Requiem" or 1 DARK Attribute Galaxy Type Normal Monster from those cards to your hand. Place the rest of the cards on the bottom of your Deck in any order.

Despite being Limit 3, preventing you from using powerful Traps like Star Protector's Protection , this card's power is well worth the trade-off. When you have 10 or more of these cards in your deck, its name will be counted as Voidvelg Palerider – instantly providing a valid Fusion material.

Furthermore, the effect of digging up the top 3 cards of the deck and taking a Voidvelg Requiem or a Normal Dark-type monster into your hand turns it into an incredibly powerful search machine. You can pre-arrange your cards using a Skill and then use this card to dig them up, creating an overwhelming card advantage.

[REQUIREMENT] Shuffle 3 DARK Attribute Galaxy Type monsters from your Graveyard into the Deck. [EFFECT] This turn, this face-up card can be treated as 2 Tributes for the Tribute Summon of a DARK Attribute Galaxy Type monster in Attack Position.

At first glance, this card might seem superfluous since its Skill already helps reduce the Summoning cost, but it's actually a crucial recycling tool. Since Voidvelg Forbidden Requiem is a bundled card, you only get one. Globule is the only way to shuffle this boss card from the Graveyard back into the Extra Deck for reuse.

Additionally, it allows you to continuously add 1600+ ATK targets (like Requiem and PaleRider) back into your deck to optimize the chance of their disruptive effects triggering. In some cases, you can use it to Summon Requiem with a Tribute without using a Skill beforehand, saving your Skill privileges for later combos after Fusion is complete.

This is a fantastic boss in the Voidvelg Archetype with incredibly powerful board-clearing abilities. However, it's limited, so we have to give up.

[EFFECT] Destroy all monsters on the field. Then, you can add 1 Galaxy Type monster from your Graveyard to your hand.

Dark Hole Device is still very effective and has even received a significant buff from the new cards recently released in the Minibox. This card excels at recycling Dark-type monster resources, while also putting pressure on your opponent to clear their monsters, paving the way for devastating finishing moves.

You should only use a maximum of one copy of this card. Theoretically, activating it costs you one resource. However, its value lies in its ability to provide an emergency "solution" in situations where you're short on resources. It helps you retrieve the exact card you need to complete that turn's combo – usually Voidvelg Stolk, or profitable cards like Voidvelgr Cataphract or Voidvelg WhiteRider.

Since the deck is assigned quite a few numbers, here are some strong cards in the meta that we can use.

"Voidvelg Requiem" + "Voidvelg Palerider" You can Summon this card by Contact Fusion. [REQUIREMENT] Send the top 3 cards of your Deck to the Graveyard. [EFFECT] This card gains 900 ATK until the end of this turn. Then, you can destroy cards on your opponent's field, up to [the number of DARK Attribute Galaxy Type monsters with 1600 or more ATK sent to the Graveyard to meet the requirement].

The Contact Fusion monster is Summoned using Voidvelgr Requiem and Voidvelgr Palerider . Its effect allows you to send the top 3 cards of your deck to the Graveyard to gain an additional 900 ATK (reaching 3900), then destroy an equal number of opponent cards on the field equal to the number of monsters with ATK of 1600 or higher that were milled to the Graveyard. If you're lucky enough to destroy 2 or 3 cards, this monster can instantly decide the game.

However, the annoying part is that after performing Fusion, you are forced to shuffle two materials into your deck, discarding the card you intentionally placed at the top of your deck using a Skill. This creates a bit of difficulty, making the success rate of destroying cards sometimes dependent on luck. If the mill fails completely, you will lose a huge amount of field-clearing damage.

"Voidvelg Requiem" + "Contact Darkmatter Explorer" This card can be Contact Fusioned (Fusion Summon by shuffling the above face-up monsters from your field into the owner's Deck as materials). [REQUIREMENT] During your Main Phase that you Special Summoned this card. [EFFECT] Change 1 face-up monster on your opponent's field to face-down Defense Position. This turn, this card gains 1300 ATK, and inflicts piercing battle damage.

Summoned from Voidvelgr Requiem and Contact Dark Matter Explorer , this is an incredibly powerful attack machine. During the Main Phase of its Special Summoned turn, it can flip one of your opponent's face-up monsters into face-down defense position, then buff itself with an additional 1300 ATK (bringing it up to 4300) and gain increased attack penetration.

The biggest drawback of this card is that it only receives the ATK and armor penetration buff IF it successfully flips a monster. If your opponent's monsters are already face down, this card becomes a useless 3000 Attack "meatball". The best solution in this case is to borrow power from Curse of the Rising Light to raise your opponent's monster before activating its effect.

"Contact Darkmatter Explorer" + 1 Level 4 or lower DARK Attribute monster This card can be Contact Fusioned. [REQUIREMENT] During your Main Phase that you Fusion Summoned this card. [EFFECT] Destroy 1 face-down card in your opponent's Spell & Trap Zone. This turn, you can only attack with DARK Attribute Galaxy Type monsters.

An exceptionally effective backline clearing monster, easily Fusion created from Contact Dark Matter Explorer and any 4-star or lower monster. Upon Fusion Summoning, it can destroy one of your opponent's face-down Spell/Trap cards. This effect not only clears a safe path for other Boss monsters but also forces your opponent to flip their traps early, creating the perfect opportunity to activate Curse of the Rising Light.

Despite the limitation of only allowing Dark-type Galaxy monsters to attack during that turn (which doesn't affect anything since the entire deck is of that type), its 2000 Attack Power can sometimes be a small hurdle. In many cases, if you combine it with Voidvelgr Forbidden Requiem (3900 Attack Power) on an empty board, the total damage only reaches 5900, leaving you short 100 damage for an OTK finish.

These are all traditional Fusion monsters with the destructive power of the Archetype. However, the biggest reason these three cards are often absent from new builds is that decks now focus 100% on Contact Fusion – the ability to summon a boss monster without using a Fusion spell card.

If you include these three monsters in the Extra Deck, you will be forced to add Fusion cards and other special materials to the Main Deck. This will take up space that could be occupied by card-picking cards (such as Voidvelgr Stolk or Voidvelgr White Rider ) and disrupt the consistent structure of the Contact Fusion strategy.

If you enjoy the traditional Fusion playstyle, you can absolutely build a Fusion-based variant around these cards.

                  How to play/How to combo

                  Gameplay Overview

The gameplay of this Voidvelg version revolves around an extremely fast and flexible Contact Fusion mechanism. Instead of relying on traditional Fusions, you will constantly send monsters onto the field, gaining a (+1) advantage through Skills and search tools, and then instantly "transform" them into powerful bosses.

The deck's most distinctive feature is its aggressive nature, yet it demands skillful resource management. You'll need to constantly recycle cards and carefully consider prioritizing safe trap clearing or maximizing damage. While there's a bit of luck involved in clearing boss fights, the pressure this deck creates in the mid-game is immense, easily punishing weak defenses with unexpected OTKs.

                  How to Perform Core Combos

                  1. Combo for Free Resource Acquisition (Add Card +1)

These are the most basic steps to ensure you never get a "brick" in your hands:

                  • To activate Requiem Contact, select Voidvelgr Requiem or a necessary Normal monster (such as Contact Dark Matter Explorer ) and place it on top of your deck.

                  • Summon Voidvelgr Kataphrakt . Use its effect to mill the very card you just placed in the Graveyard, then immediately retrieve it to your hand.

                  • Alternatively, you can summon Voidvelgr White Rider to dig up the top 3 cards and directly take the card that was just arranged straight into your hand.

                  2. Instant Fusion Combo

When you're short on materials on the board, Voidvelgr Stolk will be the universal key to solving all your problems:

                  • Option 1 (Summon Probe / Dark Matter Requiem ): Activate Stolk's effect, sending 2 cards from your deck to the Graveyard. Its name will change to Contact Dark Matter Explorer . Use it in conjunction with a Tier 4 monster or Voidvelgr Requiem on the field to instantly Contact Fusion.

                  • Option 2 (Summon Forbidden Requiem ): Activate Stolk's effect, discard 1 card from your hand to the Graveyard to pay the fee. Its name will immediately change to Voidvelgr Requiem. Immediately combine it with your existing Voidvelgr Pale Rider to directly summon a boss to clear the board.

                  3. Trap-Breaking and Card-Drawing Combo (Trap on top of trap)

A perfect sequence of actions to clear your opponent's back row and refresh your hand resources:

                  • Perform Voidvelgr Beyond Probe Summon.

                  • Activate its effect to specifically destroy one of your opponent's face-down cards. This action often forces opponents to panic and reveal their Traps early before they are broken.

                  • When an enemy Trap activates and changes the position of a monster on the field (e.g., Shiny Shady), the condition for Curse of the Rising Light will be met. Activate this spell immediately to force the enemy monster's position back in your favor (to pierce their defense or destroy them), and draw two additional cards.

                  4. Forbidden Requiem Combo

This is the decisive combo that can decide the outcome of the match:

                  • Before proceeding, make sure you've used Voidvelgr Globule to shuffle monsters with 1600 Attack or more from the Graveyard back into your deck to increase the chance of triggering effects.

                  • Perform the Summon Voidvelgr Forbidden Requiem.

                  • Activate the effect, Mill 3 cards from the top of the deck to the Graveyard. FR will automatically increase to 3900 Attack.

                  • Destroy the number of cards on the opponent's field corresponding to the number of monsters with 1600+ Attack power that Mill just defeated. Wipe out the opponent's defenses, open a path to victory, and launch a direct attack.
