Instructions for building Tearlaments

Tearlaments - an archetype that is at the top tier on all platforms! YGO Vietnam already has a TCG version of it, today, I will take you through the OCG version to see if there is any difference!




Introduce

Basically, the introduction of OCG will not be much different from TCG. Yes, we are talking about a deck of cards :D But I will put the introduction of the TCG article I wrote here to have some introductory information for you to read.

- Tears of the ocean -

As the name suggests, Tearlaments is an Aqua Fusion deck that works by sending cards from the deck to the GY, mainly from the top of the deck, milling Lightsworn (like falling tears). They are mainly Aqua-type Dark monsters, ranging from Level 2 to Level 4. The exception is Tearlaments Reinoheart , which are instead Level 4 Warrior-type Water monsters.

  • Each Tearlaments has an ability that activates when it is sent to the GY as part of a card effect. It doesn't matter how they get there.
  • That gives you a lot of ways to build and experiment with the deck, there are many different approaches and different ways to finish off your opponents.

The best part is that the deck will only become more complete with future releases! Magnificent Mavens will bring us new supports from Ishizu Ishtar's deck, and with it a bunch of power for Tearlaments (to be analyzed later). But now, with Mavens not releasing until November, Tearlament has crushed the competition with its first support.

To play Tearlaments to its full potential, you need to make sure that you can play freely for most of your turns. Decks like these are fun to play, because each turn can be very different, even though your actual deck remains the same. Tearlaments are very reminiscent of Lightsworn (can be searched in the search section of YGO Vietnam), but the difference in what you use can bring a very different experience over many matches.

All 3 share an effect that allows you to fusion summon each time it is sent to the grave according to the effect

All 3 have their own secondary effects such as:
  • Scheiren is a special summon during your Main Phase and a 3-card mill
  • Havnis is a special summon when your opponent activates a monster effect ON the field and mills 3 cards
  • Merril is a normal or special summon that sends 3 cards to the GY like her starfruit sisters (better Card Trooper ).
In terms of quantity, in OCG, Havnis will be used less , it is simply limited-2 :v Well, a bit unlucky but we have to go with that banlist...

When summoned, Reinoheart sends any Tearlaments monsters from your deck to the GY, and if Reinoheart is sent by an effect? You can summon it back, then send a Tearlaments card from your hand to the grave, and yes, that means it will activate the sent card's Fusion effect.

Um, what should I say, the quantity and effects will not be much different from TCG, so the number in the deck is still 3!

"Tearlaments Kitkallos" + 1 "Tearlaments" monster Other Aqua monsters you control cannot be destroyed by battle. You can only use each of the following effects of "Tearlaments Rulkallos" once per turn. When your opponent activates a card or effect that includes an effect that Special Summons a monster(s) (Quick Effect): You can negate the activation, and if you do, destroy it, then, send 1 "Tearlaments" card from your hand or face-up field to the GY. If this Fusion Summoned card is sent to the GY by a card effect: You can Special Summon this card.


Compared to TCG, Lulu is used a lot in OCG. If you have been following the top decklists in the current meta for over a year now, almost every version of Tear has a Lulu .

The remaining 2 cards are still the same, 2 Kit, 1 Heart

            When this card is activated: You can add 1 "Tearlaments" monster or 1 "Visas Starfrost" from your Deck to your hand. Fusion Monsters and "Tearlaments" monsters you control gain 500 ATK. If a "Tearlaments" monster(s) you control or in your GY is shuffled into the Deck or Extra Deck (except during the Damage Step): You can target 1 card on the field; destroy it.             Compared to TCG, we will have Scream, a Continuous Spell that helps you search articles quite well. In addition, if you want to end the game quickly through combat, Scream will help in this!

            And Cryme, a negate can continue the effect of 1 Tear in your hand to extend the combo!

            Regarding rates in OCG: x3 Scream , x1 Primeval (limited), x2 Sullier , x1 Metanoise (can be placed in Side Deck), x1 Cryme (often used in Side Deck because of situational nature)

                    Handtrap is inevitable, but in OCG, we get the bonus Maxx "C", in TCG we will see it less, but Maxx "C" in OCG is a jungle!

                    Danger! These will be pretty good techs to expand your play, making it easier to access Rank 4 Xyz or Fusions without worrying about bricks.

                    However, in OCG, their appearance in most versions is not much, so if there is a build, OCG newbies should pay attention!

                    Tag(s):

                    The Shaddoll set is an important and indispensable part of most Fusion sets. Restocks, slows, lingers, certain annoyances your opponents will have to endure over time if they have to face you :D

                    However, just like Danger! Shaddolls appear quite rarely in meta builds, instead Xyz have more effects to end the game!

                          In TCG, this combo is being used quite a lot, but when going through OCG, we hardly see their appearance in every build version of the line. Partly because they are no longer used much due to the appearance of Kashtira, an archetype that greatly supports Tearlaments, and partly because this combo easily bricks.

This is a Quick Effect if your opponent controls a monster. If this card is Special Summoned: You can activate this effect; during the End Phase of this turn, add 1 Dragon monster from your Deck or GY to your hand, except "Bystial Magnamhut". You can only use each effect of "Bystial Magnamhut" once per turn.


                          Some players have used Beatrice, Lady of the Eternal in the Extra Deck as an additional route to send cards from the deck to the grave, essentially providing another method to activate the grave effect of Tearlaments monsters . Beatrice, Lady of the Eternal's effects are not limited to sending monsters, and can also be used to send Spell/Trap Tearlaments when the situation requires and activate their effects to search or salvage Tearlaments .

                          Beatrice, Lady of the Eternal is easily Xyz Summoned using the Bystial monster. Bystial Magnamhut Special Summoned during your opponent's turn adds another Bystial monster from the deck to the hand during the End Phase, and these two monsters can then be used for the Xyz summon of Beatrice, Lady of the Eternal.

                                        Chaos Hunter has been seen used in Side Decks as a counter to Kashtira Fenrir . You can then continue to bring bodies onto the field to really put pressure on your opponents, quickly making their lives miserable. (In my opinion, you probably understand why we have to put so much Fusion in Extra, partly to avoid bricking)

                                        If you draw any Danger, or King of the Swamp, you can really change things up, giving you an extra lvl 4 or Aqua to Xyz Summon or Fusion, and depending on the variation you can do Get more!
