Instructions for playing Pendulum Magician

Instructions for playing Pendulum Magician

The first Pendulum Magician was introduced in the anime Yu-Gi-Oh Arc V when Yuya Sakaki placed the Pendulum scale 1 Stargazer Magician and scale 8 Timegazer Magician. Later on, the deck received a lot of good support cards like Wisdom-Eye Magician, Oafdragon Magician, Double Iris Magician, Harmonizing Magician and more. Thanks to the amount of strong support that this deck has, it has become a really strong deck, causing Heavymetalfoes Electrumite to be on the banned list to this day.

Style play

Pendulum Magicians are primarily composed of Dark-Spellcaster type Pendulum monsters. Although not all are Dark-Spellcasters, most are. The main goal of this deck is to try to take advantage of as many card numbers as possible so you can flood your opponent's OTK field,

A very important thing to understand the deck is to analyze your hand, see what you can use as bait for the handtrap, find ways you can counter the handtrap, find ways you can overcome the handtrap and see what fields you can create what it looks like with the remaining leaves you have.

[ Pendulum Effect ] If you have a "Magician" or "Performapal" card in your other Pendulum Zone: You can destroy this card, and if you do, place 1 "Magician" Pendulum Monster from your Deck in your Pendulum Zone, except "Wisdom-Eye Magician". [ Monster Effect ] You can discard this card, then target 1 card in your Pendulum Zone, whose current Pendulum Scale is different from its original Pendulum Scale; its Pendulum Scale becomes its original Pendulum Scale until the end of this turn.

Your main card for consistency, its main effect in the pendulum zone allows you to destroy it and put another scale magician in its place from the deck as long as you have another magician or performapal in the zone other pendulum. We'll want to play 3 so we can see it consistently to get the exact scales we need while filling the extra deck with a body we can summon.

[ Pendulum Effect ] Once per turn: You can target 1 DARK Spellcaster-Type monster you control; apply this effect to it, then destroy this card. Once applied, double any battle damage that monster inflicts to your opponent this turn if it battles an opponent's monster. [ Monster Effect ] (This card is always treated as a "Pendulum Dragon" card.) If this card is destroyed by battle or card effect: You can add 1 "Pendulumgraph" card from your Deck to your hand.

When this card is destroyed, it searches for a Pendulumgraph from the deck. It also has a nice effect that allows you to target a Dark spellcaster monster you control to then cause that monster to deal double damage to a monster this turn and then destroy the iris in the following scale when this effect is applied. The new wave of magician cards often have pendulum effects that you can activate in the pendulum zone, which will then destroy themselves, and they will have monster effects that activate when destroyed. We mainly want to focus on monster effects, and it's important to note that none of them are difficult once per turn. So if you have the ability to kill any new magician twice in one turn, it will trigger their effects twice.

[ Pendulum Effect ] All monsters you control gain 100 ATK and DEF for each face-up "Magician" Pendulum Monster with different names in your Extra Deck. [ Monster Effect ] Cannot be Special Summoned from the Extra Deck. Cannot be used as material for a Fusion, Synchro, or Xyz Summon, unless all other materials are "Magician" Pendulum Monsters. When this card is Pendulum Summoned from the hand: You can Special Summon 1 "Magician" Pendulum Monster from your Deck in Defense Position, except "Harmonizing Magician", but negate its effects, also banish it when it leaves the field. You can only use this effect of "Harmonizing Magician" once per turn.

This is one of your best cards in the entire deck, it is a level 4 tuner with a powerful effect. This card has a few important limitations that you need to be aware of, mainly that it cannot be summoned from the extra deck and you cannot use it as fusion, synchro or xyz material unless the other materials are pendulum magician monster. This is mainly relevant when you want to use it to synchro out level 8 or xyz out rank 4, but this does not apply to Links so you can summon Link using Harmonizing Magician and any monster. any other animal as raw material. When this card is pendulum summoned from the hand, you can activate its effect to special summon another magician monster from the deck in defense position. That monster's effects will be negated and will be banished when it leaves the field. This allows you to create link 2, synchro or xyz from just this one card and is important for some of our combos. We play 2 copies because we are simply allowed to play 2 copies. As for the pendulum effect, this card simply increases the monster's attack and defense by 100 for each face-up magician monster in the extra deck. This effect can be very relevant, but you usually wouldn't use this as a scale unless you start with 2 copies.

[ Pendulum Effect ] You cannot Pendulum Summon monsters, except "Performapal" monsters, "Magician" Pendulum Monsters, and "Odd-Eyes" monsters. This effect cannot be negated. [ Monster Effect ] When this card is Normal Summoned: You can add 1 "Performapal" monster, "Magician" Pendulum Monster, or "Odd-Eyes" monster from your Deck to your hand, except "Performapal Skullcrobat Joker".

Although this card is not a magician in name, when it is Normal Summoned, it searches for any magician, performapal, or odd-eyes card from your deck to your hand. This gives us very good consistency with a card that almost searches the entire deck. This card's pendulum effect is just a restriction that doesn't allow you to summon pendulums or any cards other than monsters magician, performapal, and odd-eyes. This card is almost never used as a scale pendulum because it can usually be Normal Summoned to search for the high scale you want.

[ Pendulum Effect ] If you have a "Magician" card in your other Pendulum Zone: You can add 1 face-up "Magician" or "Odd-Eyes" Pendulum Monster from your Extra Deck to your hand, except "Oafdragon Magician". You can only use this effect of "Oafdragon Magician" once per turn. [ Monster Effect ] If this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can target 1 "Magician" Pendulum Monster or "Odd-Eyes" monster in your Graveyard, except "Oafdragon Magician"; add it to your hand. You can only use this effect of "Oafdragon Magician" once per turn.

This card is your lowest scale card. When there is a magician card in another pendulum zone, you can use Oafdragon to add 1 magician or odd-eyed face up from the Extra Deck to your hand. This is important if you need to regain a body to help overcome the limit of monsters you can summon, get a card to continue your next turn, or if you have to do something like Normal summon a Harmonizing Magician to create electrumite and now you want to add it back to your hand so you can use its effect with your pendulum summoning.

As a monster, when it is normal or special summoned, it can target a magician or odd-eyed monster in your graveyard and add it to your hand. This effect is not used often because your cards only stay in the grave when detached from xyz, or are removed by Pendulum Call or negate summoned by something like Solemn Strike . This card also has an awkward level of 6, meaning it cannot be summoned normally without a sacrifice or used very easily to create rank 4 or synchro level 8, however with Links being yes it doesn't matter and so we can comfortably play multiple copies of these without worrying about it bricking our deck.

[ Monster Effect ] (This card is always treated as an "Xyz Dragon" card.) If this card is destroyed by battle or card effect: You can target 1 DARK Spellcaster-Type monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon it.

This card is no less than Double Iris Magician as a scale pendulum, as it can activate its own effect to regenerate, reduce the ATK of monsters with high damage, and revive a dark spellcaster when destroyed.

Unlike Double Iris Magician, Black Fang can be used to Link up thanks to its regeneration ability like Beyond the Pendulum (a link of 2). It can also be used in a long match as the ability to continuously regenerate is really useful.

[ Pendulum Effect ] Once per turn, if your DARK Spellcaster-Type monster battles, before damage calculation: You can activate this effect; that monster gains 1200 ATK (until the end of the Damage Step), then destroy this card. [ Monster Effect ] (This card is always treated as a "Fusion Dragon" card.) If this card is destroyed by battle or card effect: You can target 1 face-up card on the field; destroy it.

Purple Poison has a fairly low scale, but you usually don't want it because oafdragon often serves a better role with its pendulum effect allowing you to recycle cards from your extra deck. Regarding the pendulum effect, Purple Poison will increase your monster's attack power by 1200 and then destroy itself before damage calculation.

When this card is destroyed, you can target a face-up card on the field and destroy it. This is a more useful effect and when activated at the damage step, it will be more difficult for your opponent to avoid being hit. Usually you will summon this card and sometimes keep it on the field as a target for Time Pendulumgraph to destroy so you can turn on 2 cards with the effects of time and purple poison. Like black fang, I find playing 2 copies to help facilitate taking advantage of astro.

[ Monster Effect ] If this card is Special Summoned: You can target up to 2 cards you control; destroy them, and if you do, add "Performapal" monsters with different names from your Deck to your hand, except "Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer", equal to the number of cards destroyed. You can only use this effect of "Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer" once per turn.

This card is another main performapal we use. When summoning a pendulum, you can target up to 2 cards you control and then destroy them, allowing you to search your deck for a performapal monster for each card you destroy. This is very useful because you can destroy cards like Double Iris Magician to search for a Skullcrobat Joker to continue and activate Double Iris. This card is a low scale that can be used once. Its effect increases the ATK of all performapal monsters by 1000 for the turn that a performapla monster is pendulum summoned. You can play 2-3 copies depending on your preference and commonly available deck space.

[ Pendulum Effect ] When exactly 1 face-up Fusion, Synchro, or Xyz Monster you control that was Special Summoned from the Extra Deck is destroyed by battle, or an opponent's card effect: You can Special Summon that destroyed monster, then destroy this card. You can only use this effect of "Performapal Celestial Magician" once per turn. [ Monster Effect ] During your Main Phase, if this card was Normal or Special Summoned this turn: You can apply the following effect(s) for the rest of this turn, based on the other monsters you currently control. ● Fusion: This card can attack directly. ● Synchro: Your opponent cannot activate monster effects. ● Xyz: This card's ATK becomes double its original ATK. ● Pendulum: During the End Phase, add 1 Pendulum Monster from your Deck to your hand. You can only use this effect of "Performapal Celestial Magician" once per turn.

This card is quite interesting because it is both a performapal searched from Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer , and a Magician so it can gain benefits from being one of the large scales and can be summoned and used as Raw material with harmonizing magician. You can activate this card's monster effect at any time during the turn it is normal or special summoned, and it gains different effects based on the type of card you control. First of all, if you bring this card out, you will gain the effect of controlling a pendulum monster, allowing you to search for any pendulum monster during the end phase.

But there are other related effects if you control an xyz, fusion or synchro monster such as being able to double this card's ATK, attack directly, and prevent your opponent from activating monster effects this turn. As a pendulum effect, this card can activate if one of your face-up fusion, synchro, or xyz monsters is destroyed. This card will then activate allowing you to special summon the destroyed monster and then destroy this monster. We usually play a copy here so we have another target for pendulum sorcerer while this card still has a pretty good effect.

You can only use this effect of "Astrograph Sorcerer" once per turn. [ Monster Effect ] If a card(s) you control is destroyed by battle or card effect: You can Special Summon this card from your hand, then you can choose 1 monster in the GY, Extra Deck, or that is banished, and that was destroyed this turn, and add 1 monster with the same name from your Deck to your hand. You can banish this card you control, plus 4 monsters from your hand, field, and/or GY (1 each with "Pendulum Dragon", "Xyz Dragon", "Synchro Dragon", and "Fusion Dragon" in their names); Special Summon 1 "Supreme King Z-ARC" from your Extra Deck. (This is treated as a Fusion Summon.)

As you have seen this card mentioned before, this card is key in electrumite plays and allows us to gain card advantage quite easily. Its main monster effect allows it to special summon itself from the hand when a card we control is destroyed, then on the same chain, you can choose 1 monster from the grave, extra deck or be destroyed. banish and be destroyed this turn, and add 1 monster with the same name from your deck to your hand. This combo is great with electrumite because the main combo is to send astrograph to the extra deck with electrumite's effect, then you destroy a card in your pendulum zone to add astrograph, and then when electrumite's effect resolves it activates. activate to draw a card, you can activate the card you destroyed if it has a float effect, and finally astrograph will activate from your hand to summon itself and often search for the card you destroyed.

Another monster effect allows you to summon Z-ARC but it is not feasible or suitable in battles. This card's scale effect allows you to self-destruct and activate in the pendulum zone or special summon a Stargazer Magician from your deck. You usually do this so you can create an electrumite with Stargazer Magician and another Normal summoned pendulum card and get arrow links that will then allow you to summon more monsters from the extra deck when you finally do. now summons pendulum.

This card works very similarly to astro. It has a scale effect that allows you to summon Timegazer Magician or place it in the pendulum zone, which you will mainly use to perform pendulum summons with electrumite. Monster effects work similarly where if a card you control is destroyed, Chronograph will activate in hand to special summon itself but instead of searching for a card like astro, it will be able to special summon a additional cards from your hand.

This deck is mostly monster cards since it is a pendulum deck, but there are some spells that help facilitate our plays and Duelist Alliance is one of them. When a card is in the pendulum zone, this card allows you to search for a pendulum monster or spell/trap that has the word pendulum in its name. Specifically, the cards we can search for in this deck are Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer , Double Iris Magician , Pendulum Call , Star Pendulumgraph and Time Pendulumgraph . The reason this card can be searched for Double Iris is because Double Iris has an effect that always treats it as a “Pendulum Dragon” card meaning it can be searched by Duelist Alliance . We usually play 2-3 copies because we want to start with this card because the things it searches are quite good.

If a face-up "Magician" Pendulum Monster Card(s) leaves your Monster Zone or Pendulum Zone: Add 1 "Magician" Pendulum Monster from your Deck to your hand. You can only use this effect of "Star Pendulumgraph" once per turn.

This card is great for consistency because using it allows you to once/turn search for a magician monster every time a magician leaves the field.

You can easily activate this card before summoning pendulum by using wisdom-eyes' effect, but don't forget it will also activate from Linking your monsters or using them as synchro materials and fusion. It also has the additional effect of preventing your spellcasters from being targeted by spells, although this is not always present. We'll be playing one copy because it's searchable from both duelist alliance and double iris and starting more than one copy doesn't hurt us much.

You can only activate 1 "Pendulum Call" per turn. You cannot activate this card if you activated a "Magician" monster's Pendulum Effect this turn.

This card provides outstanding power by allowing you to Discard a card and then search for 2 magician pendulums with different names. Also, all magician pendulum cards in the Pendulum area cannot be destroyed until your opponent's next turn ends.

Important note: You cannot activate this card if you activated the pendulum effect of a magician monster this turn. This is important to note because you cannot use Wisdom-Eye before activating Pendulum Call . Also note that using Wisdom-Eye after activating Pendulum Call will have no effect, as Pendulum Call prevents the destruction of the magician and Wisdom-Eye will not be able to use the effect. While these limitations can be annoying, they also ensure consistency in your deck. Add at least one card to your deck, the number depending on your preferences, because this card can also be searched through the Duelist Alliance .

You can target 1 "Magician" Pendulum Monster Card in your Monster Zone or Pendulum Zone, and 1 card your opponent controls; destroy them. Then, if this effect did not destroy 2 cards, you can send 1 card on the field to the Graveyard.

This card is "searchable disruption", because by destroying a Magician Pendulum card you control, you can destroy 1 card your opponent plays. However, if this card fails to destroy 2 cards, you can send 1 card on the field to the graveyard without targeting, to be able to remove things like Mekk-Knight Crusadia Avramax which has one source is it I:P Masquerena.

Another effect is that your opponent cannot target spellcaster monsters you control with card effects. You should have x1 of this card as it can be searched with Double Iris Magician and Duelist Alliance.

The best Pendulum Support comes from a Link monster, Electrumite has had a rough time in the TCG with it being banned. It's now back in Master Duel and allows us to make very cool plays with it.

When this card is Summoned, it can send any pendulum monster from your deck to your extra deck in face-up position, primarily we will send Astrograph Sorcerer . Another effect allows you to target a face-up card you control, then destroy it and add a face-up pendulum monster from your Extra Deck to your hand. Finally, this card has an effect that forces you to draw a card if a card in your pendulum leaves the field. Beyond's second effect is also quite useful, it can destroy 2 cards on the field, even your own cards, thereby creating many diverse ways to play.

2 DARK Pendulum Monsters Must be either Fusion Summoned, or Special Summoned by Tributing the above cards you control (in which case you do not use "Polymerization"). Once per turn: You can target 1 other monster on the field or in the GY; until the End Phase, this card's name becomes that monster's original name, and replace this effect with that monster's original effects, also for the rest of this turn, if your monster attacks a Defense Position monster, inflict piercing battle damage to your opponent.

This card is limited to 1 because of Pendulum FTK, which allows you to activate both Astrograph Sorcerer and Heavymetalfoes Electrumite twice per turn by copying Electrumite's effect. It not only copies your cards but can also copy any monster in the graveyard or field, this card helps a lot for this deck's turn 1 combo.

2+ monsters, including a Spellcaster monster If this card is Link Summoned: Place Spell Counters on this card, equal to the number of Spells on the field and in the GYs. While an "Endymion" card(s) is on the field, your opponent's monsters cannot target this card for attacks. Once per turn, during the Main Phase (Quick Effect): You can remove 3 Spell Counters from your field; Special Summon 1 Spellcaster monster from your hand or GY in Defense Position, to your zone this card points to.

This is the only other remaining Link that I can say is the core of the magician pendulums. It has great Link markers for pendulums and is easy to summon with a nice effect that allows you to extend your turn. We will be playing 2 copies as she can be easily created from electrumite and on turn 3 onwards she will appear a lot for recovery plays. The fact that she is an easy to summon 3 link that can summon a link from the grave is also quite beneficial for OTK accesscode players.

This is one of the cards for your opponent's turn. Not only can it destroy your pendulum cards to remove a card your opponent controls, but it can also extend your combo even further by summoning Luster Pendulum, the Dracoslayer from your deck. This card can lead to a mini combo that surpasses Beyond the Pendulum if you have Oafdragon Magician in Pendulum Scale and a Performapal Odd-Eyes Synchron to summon.

2 Level 4 "Magician" Pendulum Monsters Must first be Xyz Summoned with the above Xyz Materials. Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; add to your hand, 1 DARK Spellcaster-Type monster from your Deck, Graveyard, or face-up from your Extra Deck. Once per turn, if a Pendulum Monster Card(s) in your Monster Zone or Pendulum Zone would be destroyed by battle or card effect, you can send 1 Spellcaster-Type monster from your Deck to the Graveyard instead.

This card helps you expand your combo a lot. Not only can it search for a Dark-Spellcaster Type monster, it can also send any Spellcaster-Type monster from your deck to your graveyard if there is a pendulum card that would be destroyed by a nattle or card effect .

This card can be combined with Wisdom-Eye Magician because Wisdom-Eye has unlimited uses per turn, you can use it as many times as you want. So the first time you use its effect, protect it with TimeStar Magician and use Foolish Burial on Spellcasters. This card also synergizes well with Time Pendulumgraph as it can protect your scale from being destroyed by Time Pendulumgraph, allowing you to send a card on the field to the graveyard.

1 "Odd-Eyes" monster + 1 Pendulum Monster When this card is Special Summoned: You can target 1 opponent's face-up Attack Position monster; return it to the hand. When a Spell/Trap Card or another monster's effect is activated (Quick Effect): You can shuffle 1 face-up Pendulum Monster from your Extra Deck into the Deck, negate the activation, and if you do, destroy that card. You can only use each effect of "Odd-Eyes Vortex Dragon" once per turn.

Note that you do not need to play Odd-Eyes Absolute Dragon alongside Odd-Eyes Vortex Dragon, but if you want, you can do so.

The main goal of this engine is to have 2 level 7 monsters on the field (Astrograph will be one of them) to create Odd-Eyes Absolute Dragon, then link it to summon a monster, then the effect of Odd- Eyes Absolute Dragon summons Odd-Eyes Vortex from the Extra Deck. This is not the only way to summon Vortex, you can also use the pendulum scale effect of Performapal Odd-Eyes Dissolver and another Odd-Eyes monster to form Vortex.

Typically, if you plan to use Engine Absolute to Vortex, you should play a level 7 Magician Pendulum monster that you can summon via Harmonizing Magician, like Dragonpit Magician or Dragoncaller Magician. In my personal opinion, you should play Dragonpit Magician for this Engine because it can destroy the backrow whenever needed.
