In this area, where you will place your monsters when they are Summoned. You can have up to five cards here. Your monster can be in one of three positions: face-up Attack, face-up Defense, and face-down Defense. Cards placed vertically are in Attack Position and cards placed horizontally are in Defense Position.

2. Spell & Trap Zone - Spell & Trap Zone - S/T Zone

In this area is where you can place your Spell and Trap cards. Similar to MMZ, you can have up to five cards here. You can place cards here face up to activate them or face down to activate them later. Details about the types of Spells & Traps will be given in the following section. Pendulum Monster cards can be placed in the left and rightmost zones as Spell cards and turn the corresponding zone into a Pendulum Zone as long as the Pendulum Monster remains in that zone (Pendulum Zone).

3. Grave - Graveyard - GY

When monsters are destroyed and when Spells & Traps have been used, they are sent to the Graveyard, face up . All cards in the GY are public and your opponent can look at your GY at any time except during a card effect, such as when a player activates an effect and appears Question list. The order of cards in the Graveyard should not be changed - but in Master Duel, if a card in the GY is targeted, it will be placed above all other cards in the GY (if any).
In addition, GY can also change its themes such as the ring and mascot. You will have to go to the store to buy the theme you like!

4. Banished Zone - Banished Zone

When cards are banished, they will be sent here instead of the GY. All banished cards (except face-down cards) are public and can be viewed by your opponents at any time. Only you can view your own face-down banished cards.

5. Deck Zone - Deck Zone

Main Deck - Your Main Deck is placed face down here. During the Duel, you will draw cards from the top of your deck, but be careful - if you run out of cards to draw, you will automatically lose the Duel ! This is called Deck Out. If you activate any card or effect that requires you to reveal a card, look through your Deck (even if you don't), or add/remove cards from the deck, you You must reshuffle your Deck afterward unless the card effect requires otherwise (the reshuffling is done by the machine, don't worry).

6. Environmental Zone - Field Zone

Your Environment Zone is used to place certain Spell cards called "Field Spells" (also known as Field Spells) face up or face down. Each player can only control one Field Spell . When activating a Field Spell from your hand, you must send any cards currently in your Field Zone to the Graveyard. Cards in the Field Zone do not count towards the limit of five cards available in the S/T Zone.

7. Extra Deck Zone - Extra Deck Zone - ED

Your Extra Deck is placed face down here. During a Match, you can glance at your ED at any time. In game, ED monsters can be Summoned from here to the EMZ or MMZ using their appropriate Summoning methods. Pendulum Monsters will be sent from the field to the ED instead of being sent to the Grave.

8. Extra Monster Zone - Extra Monster Zone - EMZ

EMZ is where you can Summon monsters from your ED onto the field. If a Link or Pendulum Monster is Summoned, it must be placed in the EMZ or MMZ that a Link Monster points to. All other ED monsters can be Summoned directly to the MMZ . Each player can only occupy 1 EMZ at a time unless a specific condition called "Extra Link" is met (you can learn more in the article " Link Summon Guide ") Any monster Any animals placed in the EMZ do not count towards the five card limit in the MMZ.
