Instructions for participating in N/R events

This is a guide for newbies about the N/R event that was just released on March 18, 2022.




N/R

N/R actually represents Normal/Rare (which are the rarities of the cards in the game). The event was originally created to align with the TCG's "Common Charity" Format. Since then, the game has launched a format that is completely suitable for the event. Therefore, this guide is written for those who want to gain a deeper understanding of the format, not only for events but also to play for tournaments and even duel rooms just for fun.



How to play?

Of course, the first thing you have to know in an N/R event is the limitations of your card pool. A big part of this event is playing with what you have. This means you will also have to change your thinking a lot, both in deck building and combat; You won't have easy access to negatives, nor will you have the usual secrets to stalking your opponents. You will have to think more resource-centric when playing. Although this event has strong staples and techs, using them carelessly can cost you the advantage, if not the entire match.

Since this event is very resource intensive, balancing consistency with staples will be key. You'll want to build your Deck as consistently as possible, but you'll also need to cover the bases using appropriate techs. So here are some simple techs to consider:

                  Difference between Standard Format and N/R Format

                  The difference between Standard Format and N/R Format, boils down to a few basic differences. The biggest thing, is the focus of the match. Standard Format tends to be more negative, while N/R Format tends to gain the advantage. The difference between a player's advantage, be it through slow methodical play, or through relentless combos, is the deciding factor in winning. A well-placed interruption that takes away a significant amount of advantage can completely change the course of the match in N/R Format, while in Standard Format your advantage can come from many external sources on your hand, field and extra deck, so an interruption doesn't tend to change much in the course of a match, unless it inhibits your opponent's ability to play the game (For example like a Floodgate or unresponsive effects).



                  Meta

                  The Meta of the N/R Format is VERY different from the Meta of the TCG Format or Master Duel. This is, again, due to the slow pace of matches in this format, as well as negates being much less common, match-based handtraps becoming more common, and other new strategies being formed. wall.

                  Additionally, the meta is determined by, not only a list of strong decks to dominate tournaments, but also "The Trinity".

                  2 Link Monsters Gains ATK equal to the combined Link Ratings of the monsters used for its Link Summon x 300. Unaffected by monster effects, except Link Monsters' effects, and cannot be destroyed by battle, except by battle with a Link Monster.


                  There is a Trinity system worth noting (Trinity system, refers to a system in which 3 rotating cards counter each other.) between these 3 pseudo-boss monsters, with some nice options between them .

                  The system is divided as follows:
                  • Number 70: Malevolent Sin , using its effect, removes material from Number 92: Heart-eartH Dragon , and banishes it for the turn, so it cannot use its effect to banish the opponent's field direction.
                  • Number 92: Heart-eartH Dragon can still attack Doublebyte Dragon , to deal damage to your opponent, while ignoring its protective effects.
                  • Doublebyte Dragon counters Number 70: Malevolent Sin , by not being affected by unlinked monsters.
                  Fringe options include Odd-Eyes Vortex Dragon which can negate the banish effect of Number 70: Malevolent Sin , to prevent attack advantage for your opponent, if you have a pendulum monster in your extra deck, Odd- Eyes Meteorburst Dragon counters the same platform-based combat handtrap as Odd-Eyes Vortex Dragon , and Number 50: Blackship of Corn can eliminate your opponent's Number 92: Heart-eartH Dragon in an instant.

                                                          Final words

                                                          A small note is that although the event has just been launched, you can only actually participate in the event on March 23, 2022, so this will be the best time for you to prepare.
