How to Play Dogmatika

How to Play Dogmatika

Join me, follow the will of Lord Horus, seal away that pathetic tyrant - The Dark King, who crowned himself emperor in his own shit and wiped out all heretics.

Dogmatika is notorious for its anti-Extra Deck playstyle, locking itself out of the Extra Deck while utilizing your Extra Deck monsters by sending them to the Graveyard for various effects, even capable of snatching the opponent's Extra Deck.

Dogmatika can pair well with many decks thanks to its search, negates, and Turn 0 plays,... but at the cost of being Extra Deck locked. Ironically, Dogmatika is now stronger when mixed with plenty of Branded cards, whereas the reverse—Branded mixing with Dogmatika—even though it's Extra Deck locked, can still summon boss monsters during the opponent's turn. However, if you run the Branded variant of Dogmatika, it plays almost identically to pure Branded; the only difference is you pack in more URs, and sometimes you brick :v

Yeah, it looks pretty bad at first glance, but it's a very important card because it can retrieve Ecclesia

The effect that sends monsters from the Extra Deck related to Fallen of Albaz to the Graveyard to Special Summon itself is an extremely powerful ability. Since sending is a cost, it cannot be negated, so you're guaranteed to have resources to combo or disrupt.

However, after using that effect, it locks you down, restricting your plays to only being able to Special Summon Level 8 Fusion or Synchro Monsters from the Extra Deck.

Dogmatika Ecclesia the Virtuous (x1-2)
SR rarity
Dogmatika Ecclesia, the Virtuous
SR rarity
Dogmatika Ecclesia, the Virtuous

has the ability to tune itself when a monster is Special Summoned from the Extra Deck on the field

since anti-heresy sentiment was still prevalent back then, so it is not a Tuner

when Summoned, you can search a Dogmatika monster/Spell/Trap Card from your Deck to your hand, then the rest of the turn you cannot Summon from the Extra Deck

you can perform various Extra Deck combos first, and at the end of the combo bring this card out to search cards anyway, since the lock only applies after searching :3

Incredible Ecclesia, the Virtuous

Draws 1 combo piece, can be played on the opponent's turn, recycles itself, and is a Level 4 Tuner for Synchro Summons

Special Summons itself from your Hand if your opponent controls more Monsters than you do

Can Release itself during Main Phase (Quick Effect, Release is a cost) to Special Summon Fallen of Albaz (or a Swordsoul) from your Hand or Deck to the field

As a Level 4 Tuner, it can provide further support and draw additional combo pieces

Features recursion: Returns itself from your GY to your Hand during the End Phase if a Fusion Monster was sent to the GY this turn

Fallen of Albaz (x1)

Must be Fusion Summoned to your field to target 1 monster on the opponent's field, at the cost of discarding 1 card when this card is Summoned.

You can Special Summon it during your opponent's turn thanks to Incredible Ecclesia and other cards, allowing you to take control of opponent monsters for Fusion materials.

It can sometimes act as a brick when held in hand, but it's still played because it's incredibly powerful and serves as a crucial Fusion Material for summoning many of the deck's bosses.

 wife t

has a negate effect that works on both the opponent's turn and your turn, but is typically used on the opponent's turn to stop their combos. Specifically, during the Main Phase, if the opponent has a monster Special Summoned from the Extra Deck on the field, this card jumps from the hand automatically, and if you control another Dogmatika monster at that time, you can negate the effect of 1 face-up monster they control (does not target, until end of the turn)

possesses the ability to permanently grant +500 ATK to all Dogmatika monsters when it attacks, which is quite useful for OTKs or clearing the opponent's field

a turn 0 disrupt exists, but the condition is quite restrictive: the opponent must control Fusion, Synchro, Xyz, or Link monsters with 2500 ATK or higher; usually by that point they already have negates, or it isn't a choke point for several decks (those with ATK lower than 2500, such as Junk Speeder)

you can only disrupt by activating Traps from your Deck, so if you hold a Trap in your hand, your only option is to concede

while there are many ways to disrupt, the most commonly used method that doesn't require an ideal hand to maximize its power is Dogmatika Punishment, which incredibly restricts the opponent's Extra Deck, locking it until the end of the next turn

Dogmatika Lawbringer (x1-2)
Card rarity
Dogmatika Lawbringer
Card rarity
Dogmatika Lawbringer

can be searched for by The Three Champions of Swordsoul and can be easily Normal Summoned or set, with the ability to banish 1 Extra Deck card from both players' Extra Decks (cannot be activated if your opponent does not run an Extra Deck)

Generally, Extra Deck monsters you control sent to the Graveyard will generate resources for you or reduce resources for your opponent, meaning you will almost always gain an advantage over them, unless they also possess Extra Deck cards that trigger effects when sent to the Graveyard like yours

When sent to the Graveyard, it recovers Dogmatika Monster/Spell/Trap cards from the Graveyard to your hand, providing you with additional disruption to use this turn or the next, and can even retrieve specific monsters you need to build resources and continue into further combos

peak generates resources and can also search a one card combo. Although it locks the Extra Deck, the restriction only takes effect after activation, allowing you to still summon from the Extra Deck before using it.

Sending a monster from the Extra Deck to the Graveyard can be any monster, it doesn't have to be a dark monster, so you can utilize cards with Graveyard effects to boost your own resource count while depleting the opponent's. This is why it gets picked up by a few decks as support, such as the beloved Stun deck.

broken, simultaneously gaining resources (sending monsters related to Fallen of Albaz from the Extra Deck to the GY, and those monsters possess search, draw, disruption effects, etc.) and banishing 1 face-up card on the field, plus it's a Quick-Play Spell, allowing you to set it on Turn 1 to disrupt the opponent, Turn 2 to break boards, etc.

it has the ability to return 1 monster from the GY of either player, capable of pulling out an opponent's disruption or recovering your own one-card combo,...

Ever since the channel owner was born, this card has remained highly viable

While locking out opponents is absolutely shameless and ruthless—you lock their entire Extra Deck until the end of their next turn—it's undeniable that it's incredibly strong

In theory, it's essentially a locked version of The Fallen & The Virtuous, but while it lacks the ability to special summon monsters, the fact that you can send any card from the Extra Deck rather than being forced to specify that Dark monster allows this card to run well in many decks (Stun and its friends run it quite heavily as well)

Back in the day, running this card to mill 2 Extra Deck cards was really good, but it also forces your opponent to mill 2 cards, so if they have effects that trigger when sent to the GY, it gets annoying, especially now that the meta is all Branded. Oh, and after you use it, it locks them out of summoning from the Extra Deck anymore :D (for the entire turn)

if you're running a pure Dogmatika deck, you can play these, but bricks are terrible. Mainly you just steal the Extra Deck and hope they aren't using any that trigger GY effects when sent there.

the interesting thing about these is: instead of using monsters from your hand or field as Ritual materials, you can directly use monsters from the Extra Deck, and those Extra Deck monsters will have their GY effects activate, so you'll gain decent value (until you brick, lmao)

Was anti-heresy until I got obsessed with hot black guys, then went from disliking heresy to abandoning my home and following heresy, because this farm dragon’s aura is just ridiculously cool.

effectively utilizing Fallen of Albaz's Fusion capability to push a disruptive boss monster (I’ve detailed each card in the Branded article, feel free to check the specifics there)

serving as fodder to pitch The Fallen & The Virtuous to disrupt

Luluwalilith (my wife transforming into this badass form, woohoo) can easily set up negates thanks to the effect of Granguignol the Dusk Dragon , and if sent to the Graveyard, it directly special summons itself to the field as a LIGHT Spellcaster from the Deck or Hand to back up your next turn

Slot in whatever you like; the deck is already quite tight, so it's fine if those cards don't see play (most of these are UR, so collecting them is pretty tedious)

As for the Arc Light, it works quite well with a Ritual strategy since it can search cards.

II> Dogmatika Lawbringer jumps onto the field and sends Herald of Arc Light to the GY, Herald of Arc Light searches for Mitsurugi Habakiri.

III> With 2 Level 8 monsters on the field, Xyz Summon Number 90 to gain a negation.

IV> Habakiri jumps Saji then tributes Saji , searches for Mitsurugi Ritual, Ritual sends Aramasa and Kusanagi to the GY for a Ritual Summon of Habakiri.
