Borrel Link Play Guide

Borrel Link Play Guide

Although it's a bit late, after Banish, Borrel Link was not affected at all even though he was ranked at Tier 1. So today I will post a Guide about Borrel Link (Star Seraph)

Overview

Overview

Rokket is an Archetype consisting of DARK Dragons, whose gameplay mainly revolves around destroying itself and "Floating" into another Rokket monster during the End Phase, or spamming the field by destroying other cards you control to summon Rokket monsters. These Rokket are often paired with their cousin: Borrel.

As for Borrel, it's an Archetype that also includes DARK Dragons that act as the Boss monster Rokket. Most Borrel monsters are Link-4 or higher (except Miniborrell Dragon and Quadborrel Dragon, which are Link-2s), but there are also non-Link Borrel monsters, each with a unique summon type (except Pendulum). And of course, these will also have a strong connection to Rokket.

I won't talk about the effects of the Skill again, just focus on the tips to use.

Tip : Because Borreload Riot Dragon has the ability to fly from the grave to hand, 90% of the time we will put Riot + Galatic Spiral in the grave, search for Double Disruptor to get the maximum benefit. If you already have Double Disruptor , get Red-Eyes Black Meteor Dragon to add 1 summoning material for Link and 1 Light Monster in the grave for Levianeer

Monster (Monster)

Magnarokket Dragon

Magnarokket Dragon when targeted by a Link Monster can destroy itself and send an enemy monster to the graveyard (this is not a Target) and means this is a pretty strong removal effect.

The rest is mainly like other Rokket, it is a material to summon monsters from Extra but has the effect of summoning more monsters at the end of the turn when destroyed, from there combining with spells to gain many advantages.

Metalrokket Dragon (x1-3)

Metalrokket Dragon has the same effect as Magnarokket, but instead this card can destroy all cards in the column, from there we can deal with some cases where the opponent plays many spell traps.

Perhaps just talking about Silverrokket 's most special effect, the activation condition is the same as other Rokket, then we can "See through" the enemy's extra deck and banish 1 card in it.
This will be a nightmare for some Decks that rely heavily on a boss in Extra.

-2000 LP for both players (In Duel Links, 1000 is quite painful). And of course, when targeted by a Link Monster

It is the only level 7 Rokket and ATK + DEF = 4000 so when used with skill, it will help our deck stabilize and not brick.

Rokket Tracer (x2-3)

Rokket Tracer

First, let's talk about the Deck's main starter: Rokket Tracer . A card with a quick effect that allows us to target a face-up card on our field and destroy it, while summoning another rokket from the deck.

What makes this card special is the Quick Effect, let me explain:

  • One common thing about starters with quick effects is that they can be chained right after being hit by destructive effects, so they can still activate the effect by targeting themselves while they've just hooked the opponent's staple.

  • The second thing is that it can combine very well with quick spell: Quick Launch , these two cards can complement each other to avoid the enemy's disturbing effects. At the same time, if we turn on Toggle On , we can Chain Quick Launch right after Tracer, Tracer targets Quick Launch and destroys the spell we activate to save resources.

*NOTE: This is a bit confusing to write, but you'll know it right away when you play :v
You should also pay attention to the side effect of Rokket Tracer, which is that it locks summon Extra decks only in the Dark system.

Search Rapid Trigger and Heavy Interlock by Banishing itself from the graveyard, and can revive 2 different Rokket monsters from the graveyard by Tributing itself.

Surely you have realized: The total Attack and Defense of this card is more than 4000, when combined with the skill we will benefit a lot from it. 1 is we can summon this card to the field to revive, otherwise throw it to the grave and banish it with the 2nd effect of Skill Borrel Link

Borrel's Great Bright Star

Negates 1 opponent's monster summon, then destroys a Rokket monster you control or destroys itself. It also has a respawn ability that works well with child Roksets because it has Destroy.
The important thing here is that when Ritual Summoned with Heavy Interlock , it will become a nightmare for Decks that use bosses in Extra (this is something that every deck has, right :v)

Extra Deck

The summoning condition requires 3+ Monster Effects so we cannot summon it with 2 Link 2 cards (We will get 1 free Link 2 through the 3rd effect of that Skill)

Untarget by monster effect, block effects that turn cards upside down like: Book of moon,... ( because it is a Link monster ), Quick eff target reduces damage ( we can activate this effect in the enemy's turn to target our own cards, activate the effects of the child Rokkets and make it difficult for the opponent ), or even Steal. Its Steal ability is not even a target, just attack and steal but remember to leave the space empty and still steal.

This is also a Link 4 borrel Boss. The effect is not too impressive, just mainly attack type like Borreload Dragon.

Cannot be destroyed by Battle, targets 1 monster and changes it to Defense Position (can combine with effects of child Rokket), increases ATK,...

Borreload Furious Dragon (x1)

Borreload Furious Dragon

The Quick Effect and not being one per turn is what makes this card truly scary. If we go Turn 1 and fuse with Rapid Trigger , then on the opponent's next turn we will have 2 meatballs and 2 destroys from Furious Dragon. Its 2nd effect is also quite easy to use to be able to comeback the match when both are late.

There is a small problem here, the second effect of the Skill locks us from summoning Link in that turn, so we cannot summon this card in the turn we use the Skill. But don't worry too much because
Rapid Trigger Quick Play Spell so we can still summon during the enemy's turn.

Discard 1 card from your hand to destroy a monster on the field, and if it is a Link Monster, you can summon Rokket at its Link level. Note: for the rest of your turn, you cannot summon Link-2 or lower monsters if you use this effect.

Tip:
when we go later, we can completely use the 3rd ability of Skill to Free Summon this card. And because it is summoned by Skill, it will not be counted by the Effect of Nibiru or Winda. Then we can activate the effect of this card to catch handtrap, if it is negated, we can completely Link 4 to Borrel as usual.

The simple atk buff effect becomes useful when our Rokket monsters ( except Tracer ) when targeted by Link Monster will activate the effect, from there we can use this card to bait the abilities of the child Rokket.

This is also Link 2 that can be released for free by Skill. Its ability to crawl back from the grave is really good for climbing Link, or simply to have more body to stand on in the enemy turn.

Because this is a deck that focuses on Link, spamming body and climbing Link is quite easy. Here are the best Link-3 support cards for this Deck:

  • Triple Burst Dragon : This card is quite good compared to the rest, the ability to Negate all in Damage Step helps us to confidently finish off the enemy. The important thing is the second effect is extremely good because it will combine very well with Quadborrel and level 4 Rokket.

  • World Gears of Theurlogical Demiurgy : This card requires 3 level 5 monsters or higher, so we cannot slowly climb Link. However, 3500 Atk is not affected by any Monster effect, which will be a difficult problem for the opponent.

  • Flash Charger Dragon : 100% chance that we will summon this card to the Extra Monster Zone, so 2/3 of this card's Link arrows will point to the enemy's side of the field, leaving them with only 1 safe space to summon monsters.

  • Decode Talker : Increases Damage, has some protection effect but requires sacrifice

Spell/Trap

Quick Launch (x3)

Quick Launch

1 quick spell deserves 3 slots in our deck. As mentioned above, this card can combine very well with Rokket Tracer , we can use this card to summon Tracer from the Main deck and start the combo. Or even if our combo chain is interrupted by the opponent's effect, we can keep this card as a backup and continue the combo.

Handwriting is a bit difficult to visualize for those who don't know, but remember to turn on Toggle On to be able to use Tracer destroy Quick Launch at the same time.

Rapid Trigger : We can only get these 2 cards in the game and the impressive thing is that it is Quick Fusion. In addition, fusion by destroying material will also trigger the effects of the Rokket and summon other Rokket from the Deck.

However, some of you who build decks without playing Furious can skip this card.

This card takes Riot Dragon to the next level, making it a monster that cannot be destroyed by battle or affected by active effects when facing monsters summoned from the Extra Deck. It's also easily searchable through Double Disruption Dragon.

Tech & Staple

It's not for nothing that these Tier 1 decks are extremely stable and hard to brick. So we can easily push this deck to 25 cards or even more. Even though it's locked around Dragon and Dark Cyberse cards, we still have a lot of good options with Dragon Level >7 cards.

Galactic Spiral Dragon (x11)

Dragon - level 8 - ATK + DEF > 4000 (Ez sends to grave via skill)

Since our deck is all Light/Dark Dragon, it means we only need 2 monsters to special summon this card from the grave, freeing up 1 piece of meat to play with.

Chaos Dragon Levianeer (x1-2)

Chaos Dragon Levianeer

Levianeer was once a big hit with its ability to clear the enemy field and finish them off. It requires us to have both Dark and Light monsters in the graveyard to achieve the best effect (while the locked deck can only summon Dark), but this is also easy to do because we will play around Light HandTraps like Effect Veiler, Lance or even Light Dragons level > 8.

But ATK + DEF is not 4000 so it can't be searched through skill

This card mainly acts as an Extender and support for Levianeer since it can send an additional Light card to the graveyard.

The summoning condition is extremely simple when going with Borrel, +1 Destroy and causing a little more Effect Dame, 1 slot right away for this one.

Because of his skill, Mr. Liem's Blue-Eyes was used as a background, similar to the dragon cards > level 7 of the Light system.

HandTrap cards like Veiler and Lance are great because they can be thrown to the graveyard easily. Artifact Lance in particular has at least 1 copy of this card because it can be searched through Skill 2's ability.

The Melody of Awakening Dragon (x3)

Since the deck has so many Dragon cards that satisfy The Melody of Awakening Dragon 's conditions, the search range for this card is extremely wide. Changing a card to put down can sometimes even be an advantage if you put down Light cards.

These are very popular cards in Duel Links, so there is no need to say much. We can completely put these cards in the deck, even if the number of cards in the deck is up to 30 Cards, there is no need to worry because there is Skill.

Combo

Combo

For Link Borreload Decks, the combos are less structured than the old Borrel Launch decks, making the deck a little more complicated. This is because there are many factors, like going first or last, the opponent you encounter, etc., that will force you to choose different paths. Let's use this hand as an example:

  1. Activate the skill's 2nd ability: Reveal an Exploderrokket Dragon , send Galactic Spiral Dragon and Borreload Riot Dragon to the grave, add Double Disruptor Dragon to hand.

  2. Normal Summon Exploderrokket Dragon

  3. Special Summon by sending any Normal Red-Eyes Black Meteor Dragon monster from the deck to the graveyard.

  4. Activate Borreload Riot Dragon 's ability, target itself and destroy Double Disruptor Dragon in hand then add Borreload Riot Dragon back to hand

  5. Banish Double Disruptor Dragon to add Heavy Interlock

  6. Destroy Exploderrokket and sacrifice Red-Eyes Black Meteor Dragon to summon Borreload Riot Dragon

  7. At the end of the turn, your destroyed Exploderrokket Dragon in the graveyard will summon another Rokket, allowing you to keep Borreload Riot Dragon on the field after negating a summon.

  8. Activate Artifact Lancea during your opponent's draw phase if you suspect they're running a banish-heavy deck.

Another way: you can sacrifice Galactic Spiral to Borreload Riot Dragon if you don't want to spend too many resources (and will have the potential to use said resources to summon Borreload or Borrelsword if you go later).

If you don't mind using Borreload Riot Dragon to self-destruct if you've already made your Negate summon
, you can banish Exploderrokket Dragon, Red-Eyes Black Meteor Dragon , and Galactic Spiral Dragon to summon Chaos Dragon Levianeer and activate its ability to discard a card from your opponent's hand!

Advice

  • Practice a lot. I recommend playing against NPCs first so you can get a better understanding of your deck. Also, you can ask a friend to play against you, this will help you understand how to deal with other decks and their weaknesses.

  • Never be afraid to experiment. The deck builds I have given in this guide are just examples, feel free to change them to suit your own needs! If you think a card might work well in your deck, try it out! Who knows, you might discover a new combo for that deck.
• "Know yourself and your enemy and you can fight a hundred battles with no danger of defeat." Knowing the other decks that are appearing on the leaderboard will be very useful information. That way, the element of surprise won't catch you off guard and you'll know your opponent's weaknesses.

• 3 decks with the same tier 1 but I have Star Seraph being cut. Rumor has it that it's because the deck from Zexal brought little profit to Komoney so they left. As for those who build this deck, rest assured for now =))
