Lunalight Gameplay Guide (August 22, 2024)

Welcome to the Lunalights guide!

In this guide, I will guide you through how to use Lunalights, mostly Archetype cards but will not limit playstyles, cards, winning objectives, combos and priority Skills. Hopefully after this guide, you will be more ready to use Lunalights.

Gameplay

Lunalight

Lunalight was introduced as an Archetype in the Main Box: Judgement Force , on February 28, 2020, and received a pretty big buff when the Deck Build Box: Wild Spirit came out on November 13, 2023. As well as getting a playable character with specialized skills, Celina . Lunalight is one of the cheapest decks in the game and is very F2P friendly; with the most expensive deck I've seen being around 20.5k gems. The deck uses Fusion, Pendulum, and Xyz monsters to get its win conditions.

Play style

Lunalight is an OTK focused deck , mainly focusing on releasing Lunalight Leo Dancer , a Fusion monster that is (almost) Completely immune to card effects, attacks twice, and the first attack will clear all special summoned monsters on the opponent's field. The deck can build stable Fields and is very good at running out of resources thanks to monsters like Lunalight Tiger and Lunalight Black Sheep.

Advantages and disadvantages

Advantage:
  • There are many ways to build a high ATK voltage stabilizer field
  • Has the potential to cause extremely annoying disruption with Abyss Dweller and Evilswarm Nightmare .
  • Having too many slots in the deck is quite flexible.
  • Good skill

Disadvantages:
  • Obvious Weakness: Chick and Wolf
  • Can be heavily bricked and forced to surrender
  • To play well, the Player must also be good.

Skill & Lunalight Monster

Skill

The Lunalight Alleviation skill has two different effects.

  1. Send a Lunalight monster from your hand to the Graveyard to turn a fusion card in your hand into a Lunalight Fusion.

We will almost never use this effect , unless your deck has a copy of Poly; but that will almost never happen.

  1. Send a Lunalight monster from your hand to the Graveyard, then send a Lunalight monster from your Deck or ExtraDeck to it with it.

This effect is the main reason we use this skill. It can send down any Lunalight, giving us a near-infinite supply.

It has a drawback that you cannot use the effects of cards with the same name as the cards you send to the GY, but this only lasts for one turn.

Lunalight Kaleido Chick (x3)

Lunalight Kaleido Chick

This card is the lifeblood of the deck, the ability to send a Lunalight to the GY is essential to start combos. Chick allows you to send important combo pieces to the GY including cards like Lunalight Yellow Marten ; to start an Xyz Summon, Lunalight Panther Dancer ; to create Lunalight Leo Dancer or essential combo pieces; like Lunalight Emerald Bird or Lunalight Crimson Fox .

Lunalight Tiger and Lunalight Wolf (x3 both)

Both Pendulum monsters in the Lunalight archetype are required (x3). Both Wolf and Tiger's Pendulum Effects are important to gameplay; Tiger is the easiest way to create Xyz monsters, while Wolf is one of the few ways to Fusion Summon. (If you're not playing Lunalight Fusion )

Lunalight Black Sheep (x2-3)

Lunalight Black Sheep

Lunalight Black Sheep

Lunalight Black Sheep is your primary way to restore monsters from the GY, and you'll need this card to ensure you don't run out of resources too quickly. You'll often use this card to re-use cards you've discarded with Lunalight Alleviation or Lunalight Kaleido Chick .

Lunalight Emerald Bird (x2-3)

Lunalight Emerald Bird is also a way to send cards to the graveyard (from the hand). Basically, you can send any LV 4 monster to xyz summon; by combining it with Lunalight Tiger 's ability . You can also send Lunalight Yellow Marten to activate its effect, then search for Lunalight Spell/Trap

Lunalight Yellow Marten (x2-3)
SR rarity
Lunalight Yellow Marten

Lunalight Yellow Marten

Yellow Marten is also a very important link in the combo. Her effect allows you to return an LL card you control to your hand to summon Marten in defense position. This means you can send her to the GY with Lunalight Kaleido Chick , then return a Lunalight Wolf or Lunalight Tiger on the field to your hand to summon, then create an Xyz monster. Plus, if this card is sent to the GY by a card effect, it will search your deck for Lunalight Spell/Trap!

Lunalight Crimson Fox (x1-2)

Lunalight Crimson Fox

Crimson Fox is a useful and versatile card, with two powerful effects that you can use throughout the game. Her first effect is: "When this card is sent to the GY by a card effect, Target a face-up monster your opponent controls; cause its ATK to become 0 until the end of the turn." This effect makes Crimson Fox a good card to send to the GY with Lunalight Emerald Bird . Meanwhile, her other effect is: "When a card or effect is activated that targets a Lunalight monster you control (Quick Effect): You can banish this card from the GY; Negate that effect and if you do, each player gains 1000 LP." This effect is very useful when your opponent plays a card like Book of Moon or Ice Dragon's Prison .

Lunalight White Rabbit (x0-1)

Lunalight White Rabbit

Lunalight White Rabbit is a reviver and counter backrow; it has the ability to clear the entire backrow quite reliably. When normal summoned, she summons a Lunalight from the GY in defense position. This effect makes Rabbit very good at rebuilding the Field and then advancing to Link Monsters, such as: Knightmare Phoenix or Fire Fighting Daruma Doll .

Lunalight Blue Cat (x0-1)

Blue Cat is often played in decks with more than 21 cards. This card is a pretty good anti-brick card, and if special summoned, Blue Cat can double the ATK of Lunalight monsters on the field.

Lunalight Purple Butterfly (x0-1)

Lunalight Purple butterfly can be used as a hand-trap, and a board-rebuilder. Purple Butterfly's first effect is: "You can send this card from your hand or field to the GY, then target a Lunalight monster on the field; it gains 1000 ATK until the end of the turn." This can power up a Lunalight monster, if you really need to KO something, like Raviel, Lord of Phantasms . You can also use her second effect to special summon Lunalight cards from your hand to assist in an Extra Deck summon.

Spell/trap

Fire Formation - Tenki (x1-2)

Fire Formation - Tenki

Tenki is the game's go-to Beast-Warrior finder, allowing you to find any Beast Warrior monster level 4 or lower, opening up many combos. Most of the time you'll be looking for starter combos like; Lunalight Kaleido Chick , Lunalight Emerald Bird or Lunalight Yellow Marten .

Storm

Storm is a way to clear the back row by destroying all the face-up Spells/Traps you have (mostly Tenki), so you can attack freely without worrying about cards like Book of Moon , Crackdown , Forbidden Droplet , etc.

Allure of darkness

Allure of darkness is an anti-brick card that allows you to draw two cards, then banish a dark monster (that doesn't accept Pendulum) from your hand. If you don't banish the card, you'll have to discard the entirety of your hand. Allure is a way to dig deeper into your deck and get more combo starters.

Treacherous Trap hole

Treacherous Trap hole will help break up tight opp fields and make it easier to get ahead against jumpy decks.

Lunalight Fusion (x0-1)

Lunalight Fusion

Lunalight Fusion serves as a way to create Fusion monsters without Lunalight Wolf . It has the following effect "If your opponent controls a special summoned monster from the Extra Deck, you can use 1 Lunalight monster from your Deck or Extra Deck as Fusion Material. This card can also be added to the hand by using the discard effect of Lunalight Yellow Marten .

All of these staples are great, all-rounders, and can target all sorts of different monsters. If you're going to put a staple in, use one that can target anything. Staples that haven't been used yet but are good examples of this include: Forbidden Chalice , Xyz Import , and Xyz Block .

Extra Deck

Lunalight Leo Dancer (x1)
UR rarity
Lunalight Leo Dancer

Lunalight Leo Dancer

Lunalight Leo Dancer is your main OTK monster; it can attack twice for 3500 ATK, is almost completely immune to card effects, and the first time it attacks, it clears all special summoned monsters on the field. This card requires Lunalight Panther Dancer as a material, but the deck has many ways to make that weakness almost minimal, like Lunalight Kaleido Chick , Lunalight Fusion , and Lunalight Alleviation .

Lunalight Panther Dancer (x1)

This card can only be used as fusion material for Lunalight Leo Dancer . If you go later and want to summon Leo Dancer, you need to find a way to send this card to the GY so you can summon it with Lunalight Wolf ; or, if your opponent controls an Extra Deck monster, take a Lunalight Fusion and two Lunalight monsters to summon this card that way.

Lunalight Cat Dancer (x0-1)
SR rarity
Lunalight Cat Dancer
SR rarity
Lunalight Cat Dancer

Lunalight Cat Dancer is a pretty versatile first-turn defense card because Cat Dancer can't be destroyed by battle. Then, if you Tribute a Lunalight monster, you can activate its effect, "For the rest of this turn, the first time each of your opponent's monsters is destroyed, it is not destroyed, this card can also attack each monster your opponent controls, twice each, this turn." And if Cat Dancer declares an attack, it will deal 100 damage. (This is Lunalight's old OTK-kill combo when combined with Crimson Fox)

Lunalight Sabre Dancer (x0-1)

Lunalight Sabre Dancer

Lunalight Sabre Dancer

Sabre Dancer is a high ATK, more versatile Fusion monster. She gains 200 ATK for each Beast-Warrior monster banished or in the Graveyard. She also cannot be targeted by your opponent's card effects, making her less afraid of the backrow. She offers quite a bit of utility and is a good choice to add if you have any extra deck slots.

Abyss Dweller (x1)

Abyss Dweller

Abyss Dweller

Abyss Dweller is a floodgate Xyz monster, once per turn, you can detach an Xyz Material to Negate all of your opponent's effects below the Graveyard, until the end of the turn. This effect disrupts any deck that relies on a Graveyard strategy, as well as cards like Doomking Balerdroch , The Phantom Knights of Torn Scales and Glow-Up Bulb , to name just a few.

Evilswarm Nightmare (x1)
SR rarity
Evilswarm Nightmare

Evilswarm Nightmare

Evilswarm Nightmare is the main card you want to call out, if you're going first.   Its effect allows you to detach an xyz material when your opponent special summons one or more monsters, to flip it to face-down defense position. This effect is not a Target, so cards like Number 49: Fortune Tune can still be flipped face-down.

Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Tiger King (x0-1)

Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Tiger King

Tiger King is a pretty nifty card that feels really good when used correctly. When Xyz Summoned, it can place a Fire Formation Spell/Trap directly from the deck. We often use this effect to set up Fire Formation - Tenki , to add a Lunalight monster. Its other effect allows you to detach an Xyz Material to negate all the effects of a face-up non-Beast-Warrior type monster until the end of your opponent's next turn. Its effect is the main answer to countering cards like: Yubel - The Ultimate Nightmare , Mimicking Man-Eater Bug and Honeybot .

Bujintei Kagutsuchi (x0-1)

Bujintei Kagutsuchi

Kagutsuchi protects us on our first turn. It has an effect that prevents it from being destroyed if you detach an Xyz Material. It also sends the top five cards of your deck to the GY. If you send cards like Lunalight Emerald Bird , Lunalight Crimson Fox , or Lunalight Yellow Marten , their effects will activate and can help you summon another powerful monster on your next turn.

Arc Rebellion Xyz Dragon

Raider's Knight is an easy way to get Arc Rebellion Xyz Dragon and can be easily summoned with the Lunalight Kaleido Chick and Lunalight Yellow Marten combo
Arc Rebel is a more flexible way to OTK, and makes high attack cards useless. It can carry an entire match by itself, but it takes up 2 slots in the Extra Deck, so some people don't like to include it.

(These two cards must go together)

Knightmare Phoenix (x0-1)

Phoenix is a form of Spell/Trap removal. If you discard a card from your hand, you can destroy a Spell/Trap your opponent controls, and if Phoenix is linked when its effect is activated, you can draw a card. Additionally, if you discard a card like Lunalight Crimson Fox , you can activate its effect.
