Instructions for playing Sylvan

Core

Glow-Up Bulb (X3)

Normally, Glow-Up Bulb would be the staple, but currently the meta is being pressured by harpies in tier 1, forcing sylvan to be faster and Glow-Up Bulb helps with that.

Before talking about the effect of Glow-Up Bulb , it itself is a Level 1 monster with the ability to Xyz Sylvan's Rank 1 monster, plus it is a Tuner so putting Glow-Up Bulb in the deck will help. Helps your tactics become more diverse.

Effects of Glow-Up Bulb :

" If this card is in your Graveyard: You can send the top card of your Deck to the Graveyard, and if you do, Special Summon this card. You can only use effects " Glow-Up Bulb " once per Battle."

Even though the effect can only be used once per match, bringing more will increase the chance of it being thrown to the grave and it will throw additional cards like Rose Lover or normal summons from the hand for combos.

Rose Lover (X3)

As a Level 1 body monster, it can help Xyz summon the Sylvan monster. It is a Plant-type monster so it is easy to be milled to the grave by Sylvan and his companions.

Effect of Rose Lover :

" You can discard this card from your Graveyard; Special Summon 1 Plant monster from your hand, and if you do that, it is unaffected by your opponent's Trap effects for This turn You can only use this effect of " Rose Lover " one time at a time."

With the ability to summon 1 Plant monster for free, you can use Rose Lover to jump Sylvan Guardioak onto the field and be immune to enemy traps. If you don't encounter cards like BoM or Chalice , Guardioak will mill to create more combos.

Sylvan Marshalleaf (X3)

Papaya leaf ( Sylvan Marshalleaf ) has the ability to excavate up to 2 cards from the top of the deck to the grave, however, due to its low body, the papaya leaf will be OTKed. But what really makes the papaya leaf 's power is the ability when it is excavated to the grave, it will target 1 monster and destroy that card (if you send all 3 papaya leaves to the grave, it will destroy 3 enemy monsters). . Because it does not destroy monsters on the field like other cases on the field like Dragon Mech ,... So if you block the effect, although it will protect your monster, it will not kill the monster (like in the case of Ultimate Providence destroying a monster on the field but this card is in the grave so destroying it is the same), even if you set Forbidden Chalice (and cards that target monsters from the field and prevent effects like Fiendish Chain ) you still cannot stop it because it activates the effect from the grave. However, because the effect of papaya leaves is activated from the grave, when encountering Abyss Dweller or grave forbidden cards, you stop playing.

Sylvan Sagequoia (X3)

Is a Level 7 monster with a decent body and is easy to summon (as long as your Sylvan monster falls to the grave except during Damage Step, this monster will be summoned from the hand). With its Level 7 body, this card can summon Orea very easily. This card also has the effect of milling 1 card from the deck, and is once per turn, so before Xyz or using it as another material, you can mill 1 more card to test your luck. This card has a third effect that is a bit short at the present time, that is, when excavated to the grave, it will take 1 Sylvan Spell/Trap from the grave to the hand.

The effects of this card are as follows:

When a "Sylvan" is sent to the Graveyard (except during the Damage Step): You can Special Summon this card from your hand. Once per turn: You can send to the Grave the top card of your Deck, and if it is a Plant-Type monster, send it to the Graveyard. If not, place it at the bottom of your Deck. Sylvan Komushroomo (X1-2)

Mushrooms have the ability to excavate and mill up to 5 cards to the grave in one go. Because Sylvan usually plays 20 cards, this ratio is 1/4 of the deck of cards (not to mention the cards at the beginning of the game, peeled into the hand), so even if the throw is very lucky, Unlucky and sometimes stupid, but the excavate and mill tomb mushrooms are extremely strong.

It doesn't stop there, if the mushroom is exvacated and sent to the grave, it can target and shoot 1 spell/trap at the enemy.

Due to its excavate effect, it is flipped face-up, so it can easily be destroyed, pushed back to the hand, etc. So in the current meta, mushrooms are not used much.

Sylvan Peaskeeper (X2-3)

Peaskeeper ( bean )

As a Level 1 Sylvan monster that can Xyz summon Princessprite , although it has a weak body, it has the ability to be very useful, that is, when excavated and sent to the grave, it can choose any Plant monster. , as long as it is Level 4 or lower and summoned to the field, this not only gives you the goods to summon Xyz but also helps Sylvan mix with other Plant monsters more smoothly.

Sylvan Guardioak (X2)

Guardioak is essentially a 6-star monster, and cannot special summon itself to the field, so bringing it x3 will brick it, so it is usually brought less than x3.

Guardioak has the ability to excavate up to 3 cards from the deck once per turn. If you have 2 Guardioaks , before you summon Xyz or OTK, you can mill to increase resources for destroying OTK or create extreme resources. a lot and easily.

Additionally, if Guardioak is excavated and sent to the grave, it will choose 1 Plant monster in the grave and place it on top of the deck, this will help you draw that monster next turn, or excavate that monster to do what you need, helping Open combo or OTK.

Sylvan Cherubsprout (X2)

Sylvan Princessprout (X1)

Although it is Level 1, it can be used as an Xyz material from Level 1 to 8. However, this card can usually only be brought by the masters 1 (with a 100% chance of KoG bringing only 1 card). It's not too difficult to understand that this monster is susceptible to BoM or Floodgate and breaking combos, and of course, if an OTK deck is 1 beat slow, it will be very difficult. However, if you ignore the above problems, with a good Xyz ability, plus sending yourself to the grave (and regenerating onto the field or hand) to excavate 1 card, Princessprout can still play x2-3 as usual but due to search gain and increase the brick rate, something taboo in OTK decks.

Sylvan Hermitree (X1)

Hermitree really doesn't have much use in Sylvan currently. With an 8-star body and the ability to excavate once per turn, Hermitree has the ability to be a very effective material for Xyz summoning. Hermitree 's excavated effect is also more situational than practical. Hermitree is often played x0-1 to limit bricking

Mount Sylvania (X0-3)

With the ability to excavate plus being more proactive in activating Sylvan monster effects, this is a very good environmental magic card. However, when Sylvan excavates a card that is not a monster, it will place this card at the bottom of the deck and you lose an opportunity to turn the bet or win, so even though it has such uses, the risk is too high, this is still is a situational leaf.

The other leaves of sylvan are too stagnant in the current meta so they are not noticed and used.

Sylvan Princessprite (X2)

With the condition of simply being 2 Level 1 monsters and not requiring Sylvan or Plant, Princessprite is easy to summon and used a lot in decks with Level 1 monsters like Blue-Eyes,...

Princessprite has a very smart excavate ability. If it is a monster, it will be thrown into the grave, and if it is a spell/trap, it will be taken into the hand. In addition, Princessprite also recreates Sylvan monsters from the grave to be able to excavate or combo, even OTK.

Princessprite 's effects are as follows:

2 Level 1 monsters
You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; excavate the top card of your Deck and if it is a Spell/Trap Card, add it to your hand. If not, send it to the Grave. You can send 1 other Plant monster from your hand or face-up from your field to the Graveyard, then target 1 "Sylvan" in your Graveyard; Special Summon it. You can only use each effect of " Sylvan Princessprite " once per turn.

Orea the Sylvan High Arbiter (X1)

Orea is a monster with the ability to create OTK or clear the field extremely strongly thanks to the ability to push back to his hand. Orea can also place cards on the top of the deck in order, but because it is quite stagnant, it is rarely used. Although the ingredients only require 2 Level 7 monsters, because the effect is closely related to the Plant system, Orea is difficult to mix with other decks.

Orea 's effects are as follows:

Staple

Due to Sylvan's characteristics, very few Staple are compatible with it.

Rikka Engine

Because they are both Plant-type, Rikka has the ability to go with Sylvan very well and is being used for the purpose of increasing the power of pure Sylvan.

Rikka tends to sacrifice a Plant-type monster to be able to perform the abilities of each card. Rikka is often used with Sylvan to summon Xyz.

Spore, Ancient Fairy Dragon and Black Rose Dragon (Synchro Engine)

Because it is a Plant-type monster, plus it is a Tuner and 1 star, and has the effect of jumping up from the grave, Spore is very important in Plant decks that tend to throw cards into the grave. Spore combines very well with Black Rose. Because Black Rose can now use effects [1] and [2] to create flexibility for Black Rose 's gameplay, in addition you can use other cards like Ancient Fairy Dragon .

Monster Reborn (X1)

A very powerful card that can revive monsters from any player's grave and does not cost any money. This is a card that should be used in decks that specialize in throwing cards to the grave like Sylvan, however this is an optional card. situational because sometimes Sylvan will put this card at the bottom of the deck ;-;

Combo

Take the first turn

Interspersed with this, everyone will think: If Sylvan takes the lead, will he eat the pants? That's right, if Sylvan goes first, all you have to do is summon big body monsters and pray that they don't OTK you, but don't worry, here I will show you how to try to survive one turn.

If you DETERMINE the opponent is more of a battle phase and does not have a bombardment effect like Desperado , then you need to prioritize placing mushrooms in a face-down defense position. Because: if the mushroom is flipped and you throw 5 cards on top of the deck, there is a 1/3 chance that you will throw the papaya card into the grave, and thus you will destroy at least 1 enemy monster.

If you DETERMINE the opponent is prone to bombardment thanks to effects or staples like Lightning Vortex , you should keep Sagequoia in your hand, because as soon as the sylvan falls into the grave, it will jump onto the field to act as a sandbag to help you survive.

Orea, the Sylvan High Arbiter, Sylvan Princessprout and Rose Lover (OTK Bird)

In this combo you will start with excavate, you can use any card to excavate but in this combo you must try to excavate Rose Lover (combo deck similar to Lightsworn so not 100%).

You excavate and throw Rose Lover or Princessprout ( Princesprout is better).

If Rose Lover , jump Sagequoia from hand onto the field, banish Rose Lover to summon Guardioak . Use Guardioak to excavate, if you excavate right away on papaya leaves or mushrooms, it's even better, and hopefully excavate Princessprout , then use Princessprout to jump onto the field and change to Level 7.

Xyz Summon Orea and push as many of your opponent's cards to the hand as possible. Here I will give an example of pushing everything.
