Instructions for playing Meklord

Instructions for playing Meklord

I'm a fan of Meklords, mainly because of their art even though they've never competed well against meta decks, but I really believe that Meklords has potential thanks to some recent support rows.

Because Primo/Placido will likely have more Meklord players in Duel Links (quite a few people are fans of these two guys :v). And now would be the best time for us to look at each of the Meklord cards and evaluate them both based on their strengths and how we would use them in Duel Links.

Anyway, this is going to be a bit of a text-heavy article so we should get started right away. :v

Oh, I'm rambling but don't forget the overall rating: 7/10

Meklord Refinement (Skill Card)

A skill that can replace all searchers in the deck. Although you are limited in turn 1/2 to only searching for spell traps, if you survive until your next turn, you can search for any meklord card, even the Eradicator from outside the deck.

This skill can only be used once per duel, so please depend on the situation and when to use it

Main Monsters

Meklord Astro Dragon Triskelion (x2)

Meklord Astro Dragon Triskelion

A Boss Monster has up to 3000 ATK and is easily summoned by simply banishing 3 Meklord Monsters of different names from your Graveyard.

Triskelion can also easily break and outplay most of the strategies for Decks that rely heavily on Extra Decks like Galaxy, Elemental HERO, especially Synchro Decks like Rose Dragon because it can attack every turn. and steal a summoned monster from the Extra Deck while increasing its ATK. Even using just 1 Extra Deck Monster is enough to make Triskelion OTK.

Meklord Emperor Wisel (x1)
SR rarity
Meklord Emperor Wisel
SR rarity
Meklord Emperor Wisel

Can be special summoned when you use Obbligato's effect or with Assembly's effect to destroy your own monster. With Obbligato and Wisel in hand, you can use Obbligato to special summon Army of Wisel and Skiel to the field as well as Emperor Wisel on the field. This can be a good field on turn 1 as Skiel has an effect after leaving the field, while Army of Wisel gives Emperor Wisel a piercing effect if it needs to attack later.

Its main purpose is to drain a SYnchro monster, but it is still useful against non-Synchro decks or even as a very good monster to summon on turn 1 as it can negate a card spells per turn, including Pendulum monsters when placed in the Pendulum zone. However, the big downside is that your other monsters will not be able to attack.

Without a Synchro monster to control and increase Wisel's ATK, you will only be able to attack with 2500 monsters per turn. This can potentially lock your field if your opponent has a monster with a higher atk than Wisel to block the attack. You can remove Wisel using Assembly effects or with abilities if you want to take a different approach.

Meklord Emperor Wisel - Synchro Absorption

1 card you can select when defending to avoid dangerous cards or block attack(s), but can only be special summoned during your opponent's turn. It can also be used to remove your Emperor Wisel if you carry XYZ rank 1 in the deck.

Meklord Army Deployer Obbligato (x3)

Meklord Army Deployer Obbligato
SR rarity
Meklord Army Deployer Obbligato

The main Starter combo of the deck because you can special summon 2 Army meklords from the deck. They can then be used to Xyz to rank 4 or simply block attacks. Self-destructing this way also allows you to special summon Emperor Wisel if you have it in hand.

Since its effect does not trigger upon summon, your opponent can still interrupt this when you summon it. If your monster is negated or Floodgate Trap Hole, then you will not be able to special summon 2 monsters from the deck, but you can still special summon Emperor Wisel if you have it in your hand using Assembly to destroy Obbligato.

All Meklord Army monsters increase their own ATK depending on the number of other Meklord monsters on the field, which... does not count themselves.

Wisel is the strongest of the group, but also has the weakest effect, giving another meklord the ability to pierce... and that's about it.

Interestingly, Skiel is the most useful card in fact, being able to Float any Meklord Army when destroyed in Battle.

Granel's effect is... it's just Armored Bee, except once. The last time Armored Bee was good in Duel Links was also the only time Armored Bee was effective in Duel Links, when decks revolved around playing things that were good rather than just playing archetype cards.

They suck, so of course we end up having a lot of them but rarely using them

However, like the Emperors, Support recently blessed them with another Meklord Army monster... and this card is actually playable. Meklord Army Deployer Obbligato !

Search is core to the deck, but can also be made play in a number of directions because of the ability to destroy your own cards.

Obbligato and Emperor Wisel are two cards you need to add to your hand to be able to play. Obbligato has a slightly higher priority because you can use special summoned monsters to Xyz Gear Gigant X to search for another card or defend with Skiels Army.

Assembly's second effect will allow you to destroy another face-up Spell/Trap like Dark Contract with Gate, one of the main search engines of the D/D/D Deck.

Draw 2 additional free draws if you are controlling 2 Meklords. But always remember that you can't attack the turn you use this card but can still add a ton of resources to your hand when going first.

Train Ironwolf will allow your Machine-Type monster to attack your opponent directly, you can combine this card with Concentrating Current to make your Machine-Type monster deal a large amount of Battle Damage.

Train Ironwolf's off-field effect can allow you to search for 1 Level 4 Machine-Type monster from your Deck, which gives you another source to set up combos later on.

Searcher for any low level Meklords. You can use Obbligato to special summon 2 Armies from the deck to Xyz this card, then search for Emperor Wisel and destroy Gear Gigant X with Assembly if you want to summon Emperor Wisel quickly.

Emperor Wisel acts as an anti-Synchro monster, while this card can be good against Xyz monsters as banishing them will also remove their materials.

It works best if your opponent only has 1 monster, temporarily banishing them means you can attack directly and get OTK.

Good ATK and defense effects to help us survive. Bring it out if your opponent only has 1 monster on the field that you know you can overcome. Destroying a monster in battle will allow you to Xyz summon a rank 10 monster, which can be used to bring out Great Magnus with 3 materials.

Other options

Special Summon Desperado Barrel Dragon when Obligato is destroyed. In particular, Oligado's effect greatly speeds up the summoning of Desperado Barrel Dragon, allowing you to bring this card into the field during your Main Phase. Desperado Barrel Dragon's non-target removal effect is great for removing monsters that cannot be destroyed by battle or cannot be targeted.

One Synchro combo card. Our deck has some level 4 Dark Machines, which are Meklord Army of Wisel and Obligato which can be combined with Black Salvo, allowing you to immediately switch to level 7 Synchro.

Meklord Astro Mekanikle (x1)

Meklord Astro Mekanikle

A Boss Monster has high attack power, is quite expensive to summon, and mainly only serves as a Beater against non-Synchro decks.

Against opponents using Synchro monsters, it is a good OTK monster because it can increase its own attack power. This is a very situational play because the character and skills are likely to let you know that you are playing an anti-Synchro deck, but it can sometimes win some games ahead with opponents. The player did not expect it.

Diamond Dire Wolf (x1)

Obbligato makes this card a little less expensive because you only use 1 card in your hand to get the effect of discarding another card.

Allows you to attack with other monsters when you have Emperor Wisel on the field. Automatically flipping it up during the end phase means you can still negate a spell card during your opponent's turn or absorb another Synchro monster if it survives until your next turn.
