Instructions for playing BlackWing

Instructions for playing BlackWing

“Blackwing” is an archetype full of DARK Winged Beast monsters, whose main gameplay revolves around spam monsters flooding the field and Synchro summons.

Although this Deck is no longer as strong as before due to some cards being put on the banned list, it can still be played quite stably thanks to Black Whirlwind. Something that can help you have up to 2-3 powerful Synchro monsters in just 1 turn

After Komoney's moves to buff Blackwing a bit, will this OTK deck that likes to go turn 2 come back or will it still sink as deep as MCK :v

Black Wind to the Top (Skill Card)

If you are someone who has never experienced the BlackWing deck, reading through this skill you will see that it is quite weak and nothing special. But the truth is not so, this skill helps BW much faster so the usage percentage of this skill is up to 100%.

Adding the Field Mountain card buffs 200 ATK is not much different from the old skills but remember that Black WhirlWind will search for a monster lower ATK than the summoned monster. Simoon has 1600 ATK, so when we summon Blackwing - Zepyros the Elito, we will search for Simoon to extend the combo.
In addition, adding Hogan's Ace card will reduce one slot for this card in the extra so we can combine it with the trap card Blackbird Close. In addition, the second ability of the skill also combines very well with Black-Winged Dragon.

Core

Blackwing - Simoon the Poison Wind

Simoon's normal summoning effect is considered an effect, meaning it does not count towards your normal once-per-turn summoning rule. Black Whirlwind's effect activates when Simoon is on the field, and you can normal summon another monster to activate Black Whirlwind again.

We often take advantage of this opportunity to summon Simoon and then use Black Whirlwind to search for Oroshi. Special Summon Oroshi and combine it with Simoon to Synchro summon a level 7 monster. If you already have a tuner in hand, you can consider using Black Whirlwind from Simoon to search for Zephyros instead.

Blackwings has always been quite weak when Black Whirlwind is not present, but thanks to Simoon, we now have a way to bring it deep without being negated by monsters like Legendary Six Samurai - Shi En and Silent Magician.

Black Whirlwind (x3)

Black Whirlwind

Black Whirlwind is the deck's core searcher card and it can be activated up to twice per turn if you use Simoon's effect.

If you are using a skill like Harpies' Hunting Ground or Peak Performance, summoning Simoon will grant an additional monster with less than 1800 ATK (instead of 1600), allowing you to search Zephyros. If you already have Black Whirlwind in hand, remember to activate it before using Simoon's effect so you can search twice.

During the End Phase, Black Whirlwind placed on the field by Simoon's ability is sent to the GY and you take -1000 LP, but you can prevent this from happening by regaining the Countinuous Spell to your hand via its Eff. Blackwing - Zephyros the Elite.

Zephyros is the ideal monster in that you always want to use it to Synchro, then it will stay in the grave. Once it is in the grave, you can activate its effect by returning Black Whirlwind to your hand to Synchro out a cloak monster or simply add a third monster to attack at the same time.

You can easily search for Zephyros if you are using a skill that gives you +200 ATK like Mountain / Harpies' Hunting Ground, then activate Simoon's effect.

This card's special summoning ability is what makes its name. With 1700 ATK combined with WhirlWind, it is easy to search for other monsters. On the other hand, Level 4 can be easily combined with Blackwing's level 3 tuner monsters to synchro into level 7 and OTK monsters.

Blackwing - Kris the Crack of Dawn (x0-x2)

Blackwing - Kris the Crack of Dawn

Similar to Bora, Kris is a level 4 Blackwing, who can special summon himself if you control another Blackwing. It is also resistant to being destroyed by Spell/Trap, once per turn, with 1900 ATK able to search all other BlackWings swimming with Black Whirlwind. The only problem with Kris is that it is limited to being special summoned only once per turn, so you don't want to have a lot of these cards in your hand.

However, it is still a Core card used in the deck because it is used to make good Synchro materials and normal summons. If you don't have much money :v , you can substitute one Kris for a third Bora.

Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind (x3)

A level 3 tuner can be easily summoned to synchro to level 7. This is the tuner you want to find in most cases, especially if your opponent has a face-up monster.

Besides being just a level 3 tuner, it has a pretty powerful eff that isn't difficult to use either. If you can special summon Gale twice, you can use its effect on the same monster twice. We will be able to overcome most monsters, even if they have 10,000 ATK.

A card should also be in the deck when we can combine it with Simoon to Synchro to create a level 7 monster or combine it with a level 7 Synchro to create a level 8 Synchro. Having 400 ATK each helps us to search for anything. When

Trishula, Zero Dragon of the Ice Barrier

We can summon this card to the field by using 2 level 4 Blackwings ( Zephyros + Kris/Bora) along with the level 3 tuner Gale. Banish up to 3 cards your opponent controls, clear the field and OTK them (remember that this card's effect is not the target).

Ancient Pixie Dragon (x1)

This deck can easily Synchro summon level 7 due to the harmonious combination of monsters and Black Whirlwind's search ability, so the ability to destroy beast monsters like this can be quite handy. However, sometimes it is better to summon Raikiri because it is part of the Blackwing deck, allowing you to perform long combos.

The +1 card draw effect can be used when you activate Necrovalley or by returning your Mountain/Harpies' Hunting Ground from the skill using Zephyros' ability. Just reactivate the field card and we can draw 1 more card.

Ancient Fairy Dragon (x1)

Ancient Fairy Dragon

Blackwings do recover things from their graves, but it is not an essential ability. Therefore, the decision whether you choose Ancient Fairy or Ancient Pixie will be up to you.

When facing decks like Shiranui or Crystron that use graves better than Blackwings, it's better to synchro Ancient Pixie Dragon and activate Necrovalley to keep the opponent from playing the game. This also limits you from using Hawk Joe, but what's more important is stopping your opponent properly.

When facing decks like Gouki and Gravekeeper that can use Necrovalley as a control card and are not disrupted by Necrovalley itself, we can choose Ancient Fairy Dragon to destroy the opponent's Necrovalley. This allows you to search your own Necrovalley to thin your deck but does not activate it. Without Necrovally on the field, we can freely create powerful combos with Hawk Joe.

Assault Blackwing - Chidori the Rain Sprinkling (x1)

Assault Blackwing - Chidori the Rain Sprinkling

With Chidori's own ATK boost and the monsters you used as Synchro materials, this card will usually start with at least 3200 ATK, enough to defeat even Blue Eyes White Dragon. Chidori is capable of reaching quite high ATK numbers, giving him the ability to deal with monsters that Raikiri cannot destroy.

When it is destroyed by battle or effect and sent to the GY, it allows you to target 1 WInged Synchro in your GY and Special Summon it. This effect makes Chidori the perfect monster to make a comeback when you are sure that your opponent has run out of attack abilities, defend until the next turn and we will attack the opponent.

Assault Blackwing - Raikiri the Rain Shower (x1)

Assault Blackwing - Raikiri the Rain Shower

Raikiri is one of three level 7 Blackwing Synchros cards that the deck needs. With how easily Blackwings are summoned to the field, this card can destroy more than 2 cards (if you have 2 other Blackwings on the field). Its tuner effect is useful when used in conjunction with Blackwing - Steam the Cloak to create an easy level 8 Synchros. Note that this card's eff is "soft one per turn", meaning you can reuse its effect if it leaves and returns to the field.

Blackwing Tamer - Obsidian Hawk Joe (x1)
R rarity

R rarity
Blackwing Tamer - Obsidian Hawk Joe

Hawk Joe's revive effect can be used to force monsters with high ATK onto the field. This effect will mainly be used to revive your Synchro monsters. Usually, your opponent will destroy Raikiri to remove the effect that destroys many of your cards. In that case, you can revive Raikiri with Hawk Joe's effect.

With another Blackwing on the field, Raikiri will be able to use his effect immediately. Resurrection also gives this deck good comeback potential, so much so that summoning Hawk Joe when you're on the losing end can turn the tide of your game.

Redirecting effects targeting Hawk Joe is actually a good form of protection, allowing Hawk Joe to dodge things like Fiendish Chain, Raigeki Break, and Ballista Squad. But it can be expensive because you essentially have to sacrifice another monster on your field. Hawk Joe's revive effect can allow you to redirect targeted effects, then you can simply revive that monster next turn.

2 trap cards cause discomfort to the opponent, which Blackwing is very suitable for. It goes without saying that Blackbird closes because it is a trap created for blackwing, and the fiendish chain can be reused many times thanks to Zephysro.

7. If you suspect your opponent saved his Floodgate Trap Hole for your Synchro summon, Synchro Summon Assault Blackwing - Raikiri the Rain Shower instead of Hawk Joe using the Oroshi trick, then use the Raikiris effect to destroy destroy it.
