When this card is Normal Summoned: You can Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower Insect monster from your hand. You can banish 1 Level 4 or lower Insect monster from your hand, GY, or face-up field, then target 1 face-up monster you control; increase its Level by the Level of the banished monster, until the end of this turn. You can only use each effect of "Dragonbite" once per turn.
Dragonbite — Power Evaluation
Final Score: 62 ± 6 · Confidence: Medium
- Intrinsic: 60 · Deck: 63 · Meta: provisional
- Primary role: Extender · Secondary: Material body
Why it scores here
Dragonbite converts a Normal Summon into a second Insect body from hand and gives Level 4 Tuner material for Insect Synchros, so its value comes from converting its own cheap body into board and Synchro material. Its ATK/DEF of 1000/1000 and its Insect restriction earn nothing directly. The card has no real interaction and no card advantage, which keeps it from scoring higher, and the absence of combo records means the conversion score rests on card text alone.
Axis scores
| Axis | Score | Evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Accessibility | 70 | Normal Summonable from hand with no setup, and it appears in 218 of 218 recent decks, though it is not a searcher (observed). |
| Combo & Conversion | 55 | Text shows one extra Special Summon of a Level 4 or lower Insect from hand, plus a Level boost; no recorded board data confirms this (inferred). |
| Resource Economy | 40 | Hand-to-board body with no card advantage; the banish cost is an extra card from hand, GY or field (verified). |
| Effect & Interaction | 10 | No negation, removal or hand-trap reach; the Level boost is not interaction (verified). |
| Material Utility | 80 | Level 4 Tuner Insect that remains a valid Synchro material even if its effects are negated, since the effects are on-summon (verified). |
| Resilience & Flexibility | 50 | Each effect is once per turn and the card is weak to being negated, but it works from hand, field and GY (inferred). |
| Deck-Building Efficiency | 65 | Three copies run cleanly in 82% Insect-gameplay decks with no garnet or lock; the Insect restriction limits splashability (observed). |
Calculation
Weight profile: 0.7 Extender + 0.3 Material body. Intrinsic ≈ 60, Deck ≈ 63, Meta = provisional. Modifiers: none. Final formula: 0.40*Intrinsic + 0.60*Deck
Strengths
- Level 4 Tuner Insect body that Normal Summons and Special Summons a second Insect from hand
- Clean Synchro material across Insect archetypes, including when its effects are negated
- Played in 218 recent decks across 22 archetypes, with 94.5% of decks also running Resonance Insect
Weaknesses
- No opponent interaction, so effect_interaction is near zero
- Restricted to Insect targets, which limits its use outside Insect homes
- Each effect is once per turn, and the Level boost does not generate card advantage
Best use
Extender / Insect Synchro material. Decks: Beetrooper, Battlewasp, Ragnaraika, Inzektor. Suggested copies: 3.
Evidence & gaps
- Verified: Level 4 Tuner Insect, 1000/1000, with an on-Normal-Summon Special Summon and a banish-for-Level-boost effect, each once per turn; Usage: 218 decks, 22 distinct archetypes, average 1.94 copies per deck; Usage statistics: 100% inclusion in Battlewasp gameplay 4 at 3 copies
- Observed: Appears in 218 of 218 recent decks at 1 to 3 copies, mainly in gameplay type 7 (82.1%); Top partners: Resonance Insect (94.5%), Beetrooper Armor Horn (93.6%)
- Inferred: Extender role: the on-summon body adds board presence beyond the Normal Summon; Material utility is strong because the body is a Level 4 Tuner that survives negation
- Data gaps: no combos supplied; combo conversion is text-only inference no guides supplied no banlist token; assumed 3 copies (unlimited)
